Eighteen months ago I bought a $1400 power lift recliner from Southside Furniture. Although the sales and service was good at the point of sale, the customer service a year and a half later leaves much to be desired. 18 months from the date of delivery the power lift portion of the chair stuck in the up position and would not move. Although I knew it was out of the warranty on the parts I called to see if they could service the chair. I was told they no longer sold Mega Motion chairs and since they now sell mostly Ashley furniture they wouldn't/couldn't provide service. When I asked who they might recommend to service the chair they didn't know and couldn't help me. After a bit of researching I was able to order the part online from Ashley/Franklin furniture and will repair it myself by removing the two bolts and cotter pins that hold it in place and reconnecting the power cord. Needless to say, Southside has lost any future business from me. read more

I bought a bed frame, had it less than one month and it fell to the floor. Broke into several pieces. when I spoke with the warranty dept person whom I can't remember her name, informed me that all sales are from nap with or without a warranty. WOW!!!! Not only is this a piece of crap bed frame, the worst I've ever purchased, they will not replace it or refund my money under any circumstances. I bought this online and it said I was in stock when I ordered it and I waited over 6 weeks for it to arrive. Had I known it was such poor quality material and all sales are final with no replacements or refunds I would have never ever bought this bed. Southside Furniture is beyond the worst reatiler I have ever done business with and I am warning all to purchase from them only if u like to throw your money away on crap furniture with crap warranty. read more

Good location, spent a total of about $7800 here salesman was Aaron he was nice and spent a lot of time with me. When I spend Cash I take my time, went back and spent more on A bedroom set and 2 chairs another time , the movers bought every out EXCEPT the mattresses we bought, was told by the movers that they were not available. I was told on the phone when I requested they be bought with everything else they were there and reDy to be delivered, this was around Aug 1st -3rd when I went back in to purchase the chairs, I was lied to again that the mattresses we're waiting to get them in . Someone chimed in From the side of the cashier area there in we were confused where to have them delivered. WHY were they confused when the paper I signed when my other items were deliver said my address, that's right the right address on the receipt. So clearly I was upset because I was not told the truth, I did not receive a follow up call at all from no one no owner, no sales person, this was an issuer to me being lied to. Still have the paperwork to prove The lie, no one call or emailed to see if the delivery went ok or was the items what I wanted nothing that was the 1st and the 2nd problem is they need to tell people up front NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES, I did not want one but I would have shopped differently. We looked all over Tyler for a simple twin metal bed frame and couldn't find one anywhere until we called Southside and they were so friendly and hooked us up. I will shop there in the future for higher end furniture next time :) read more

I selected a table that seemed to be a reasonable price and was told that I could not pick it up then because their loading area was already closed. This was on a Thursday and I told them that I would be back on Saturday to pick it up. I paid for the table (with a credit card thankfully) and was given a receipt (handwritten receipt detail because their system was "down"). On Saturday we changed our mind about the purchase. I returned to the store and let them know that I would not be picking the table up, and requested a refund to my card. I was told that all sales were final and that they did not do refunds (even though I had not taken delivery of the merchandise). I looked around the store for any sign posted that said anything about "All Sales Final" or "No Refunds" and there were no such signs. I looked at my receipt and it also said absolutely nothing about all sales being final. I told the salesperson that I was not told anything about all sales being final. She said that she would go and check with the owner and see if there was anything they could do. When she came back she said that they could offer a store credit, but no refund. I again stated that I was told nothing about all sales being final and that the receipt said nothing about this. She apologized for not letting me know and stated that if their system had been working then the receipt that I got would have stated this. I told her that if I had known their policy then I would never have made the purchase in the first place and would not have been shopping in their store to start with. I informed her that I had no intention of taking delivery of the merchandise and was not interested in a store credit. I let her know that I would be disputing the transaction with my bank. In short, buyer beware of this place. Having a No Refund / No Exchange / All Sales Final policy and failing to let customers know about it before making a purchase is bad business and definitely deceitful. read more

While shopping for furniture at Southside I found a chair with an ottoman I really liked. I really was interested and in a lighter solid color to contrast my wall color. The salesman pulled up one on his computer which I liked. The swatch had specs which I told him m wouldn't work. He said it was more like the solid color in the big picture. I asked him if I could return it and he said I could and that it was no problem. While paying I looked at both him and the cashier point blank and again said now I can return this right -you stated that I could. He repeated that it was no problem but just to call him when the delivery arrived if I didn't want it. When the deliverers arrived I looked at it while it was on the truck and stated that it wouldn't work. He then informed me that it was a special order (I was never told that) and he could only give me half my money back. I lost $350. I wouldn't recommend this store due to their lack of integrity. read more

My overall in store experience was positive and I had a friendly and knowledgeable sales person. My issue with Southside arose because I made a mistake on the product I ordered (my fault) and ultimately what I paid for and received was not what I wanted. It was not something they had on the floor, and their website has basically no information on the product. At the end of the day, I ended up with a sectional couch by Ashley that was not what I wanted, and Southside took a firm stance on the "all sales are final" fine print in their policy and offered absolutely NO help to try and make me happy. No restocking fee option. No take it back and pick out something you do like... Nothing except the "Sorry, we have your money now and there's nothing you can do about it. All sales are final.".. I'm sorry, I really wish you would see the bigger picture of your own customer's experience and care about the customer more than the transaction. The Ashley sectional we ended up with is cheap quality and will not last long with our kids, and even though they are the "biggest Ashley distributor" they cannot get the Ashley section that the Ashley Homestore has that is much lower price, better quality, and would stand up to the punishment of kids. I would pay you a restocking fee so you could recover your precious margin and you would resell this thing in no time and we'd both move on and be happy. But no, all sales are final. On top of that, the "employee pricing" discount you gave me, the "as low as I can possibly go" price was followed by a 20% off sale the VERY NEXT WEEK that was not as big of a "discount" as provided to me.
