My son had played for their football team and I was utterly appalled by how everything was run and the adults dealing with the children. To start, my first horrible experience had started when my son was called a racial slur and when it was brought to the coaches on the team there was nothing done about it. Next, the coaches only want to play their own children. It is basically a game of daddy-son time. I do understand that the coaches are volunteers but if you're going to volunteer then it should be a fair game for every child. We pay too much money to watch the same four children play every game. Then when it is again brought to the coaches attention about this obvious favoritism they say that their child is the "only one" that can play that position. IF YOU ARE COACHING AND ONLY ONE CHILD CAN DO THAT POSITION THAN YOU MUST NOT BE A GOOD COACH! These "men" coaching have truly no idea how to coach everyone. When the Bulldogs then made it to the Super Bowl (congrats) and they were put in the newspaper, only four of the boys named were put in the paper and not the whole team. Can you guess whose child's names they were? THE COACHES! It is crazy that these four kids are being considered the best only because their father's coach. After watching many games they aren't the best and barely make it to the mediocre mark. Than the coaches son, the coach who said that "only his kid can throw", he cried the whole game. This little boy is a cry baby. Everytime he doesn't throw the ball in the right spot, tears. The coach( his father) pats him on the back but says nothing. Yet when another child messes up instead of a pat on the back they are being yelled at. I don't see how this fair to any child. These people need to do better as a team. The bulldogs suck and I want my money back! Bulldogs do better! I will not be silenced!

I strongly recommend this to anyone that needs a meeting and event space. You can rent out one of the picnic areas in addition to the indoor meeting space. That is what we are doing for the ceremony. Extra Tip: Walk around the property, there is a ton of great picture moments, look at the fairway on hole 1 and 17 of the frisbe golf course. There is a great picture perfect moment.

Would I rent a kayak here and kayak the river alone? Yes. Would I personally use a tour guide here? No I wouldn't. Would I recommend? If you're a family with little kids or a drunk sorority house, absolutely. If you know what you're doing, just go it alone. You'll probably enjoy it more. The lower route is mainly for jogging and walking ... although you'll find a lot of bikes in the area also. At the other end you'll find baseball and soccer fields, skateboard, and basketball too. They also have a little dock off which you can fish. Be forewarned - no dogs allowed, which is good for some people and not so much for others. This is a sort of difficult kind of place to find, but that keeps it a treasure.

The entry/exit doors at every other rink are motion sensor activated electric sliders. At Southwest, every hockey player has to try to fling open a door and run through with their equipment bag. Bathrooms are filthy and disgusting with water damaged ceiling tiles and mold. Forget about soap. The seating area of the rink is freezing because of the poorly designed architecture; the cooling equipment has to work extra hard to fill up that much space. You'll be sitting on cement slabs. At many other rinks there is enclosed seating, a much better food counter, and some even have restaurants and full bars. The prices they charge for "food" here are comical. They won't even spend the money to have their sign lit at night. It's broke, and they aren't fixing it. Ever. It's embarrassing as that's the first impression they make on a new visitor. You can easily drive past it. Also the parking lot is dangerous to the suspension of any vehicle other than a full size truck or SUV. It will destroy your car. Southwest refuses to spend any money on repaving. It's also located in Crestwood, which is a cesspool. There are no places nearby where you could actually eat and feel safe. Enjoy the piss bums from the liquor store next door. It's a shame because 40 years ago it was probably a nice rink. But clearly whoever owns Southwest is more concerned with lining their pockets than pride in ownership. Filthy, dated, and uncomfortable are the three words that best describe Southwest Ice Arena.

Upon driving up it looks like there is a giant dome and then a "clubhouse". Inside the clubhouse was a cafe, a physical therapy room, the sauna room, cryotherapy and an area that looked like it had a lot of weights (I didn't go to that area) just saw it when I used the restroom. It appears the facility caters to baseball players but maybe anyone can use the recover services. The place was immaculately clean, the front desk staffer was so helpful. The room for the sauna/cold plunge was private and had a tv with a fire stick. I put a mediation on YouTube during my session. There was a shower available to use after the session. Overall, my expectations were exceeded.

In order to activate the jets one has to contend with the lift. It should be set closer to the whirlpool so that it would'nt interfer with people trying to start the jets. There is no problem with the other whirlpool, you just press the button and the jets go on for 10 minutes. Other than these two dificulties I would give the center a four rating.

The membership comes with access to a pretty good gym with weight machines, free weights, and several different aerobic machines. The only thing I dont like about the gym is there is very little room for stretching or floor exercises such as planks, pushups, ect. The membership also comes access to a lap pool, hot tub, and sauna. There are locker rooms with lockers and showers, I'm pretty sure you need your own lock. Also, you have access to basketball courts when open gym. They offer a two for one membership in January that works out to like $17 a month each. Cons- as stated before, the gym is sizable but can get a little crowded during peak times. I would prefer more classes such as yoga tied into the gym some how. They do have classes in their bi annual book but I never see anything about it outside of there. You can get a trainer and they say you get one session when you sign up but you rarely see them. As far as the rest of the center, I've only taken one class and we had no issues.

It's an organization which continues to be well managed. The board members, committees, and volunteers work at a level of excellence to ensure an "exceed expectations" result every year. The PBO brand will continue to prosper. It's a great example of the manner in which little leagues should be managed. The fields, concession stand, restrooms, and coaches, are the best I've seen. In 2009 (1st year), I had a minor incident with the concession stands manager (Tom G) at the time and a board member (Charles H) while performing my concession duties. After addressing my disappointment, I was immediately contacted by the league VP at the time (Jim L). Addressing my dissatisfaction promptly demonstrated the emphasis on customer satisfaction from PBO. PBO cares about their brand and reputation. Our family will miss PBO dearly and are grateful to have been a member of this outstanding organization.
