When I called to confirm the appointment 3 days before the actual appointment date, they said they needed to cancel/reschedule it. 3A. They scheduled me with a nurse practitioner, my problem required a specialist. 3B. The NP they scheduled me with was a female. The problem I was being treated for required a male physician for multiple reasons as I am a male (especially because this is a urology clinic). I went back to my PCP for a referral to a different urologist.

We were told again to "Go Somewhere Else" twice again this morning. So, we are asking our primary for a referral somewhere else.

I was basically given the ultimatum of a much more painful and invasive surgery or spend an extra $1200 out of pocket. Mind you, we had something scheduled and agreed to for a MONTH before it was cancelled on me last minute. After sometime trying to find a date and location, I was told they wouldn't be able to fit me in months. This was honestly the worst experience I've had with a medical practice, to be totally blunt. I understand things happen but I feel I was treated with absolute disregard and I had to bother people along the way for everything... there was nothing down proactively to advocate for me at the patient, NOTHING. Even to get a referral took my reaching out more than once after being yanked around for two months or so. This cost me a LOT of unnecessary pain with a stone I was unable to pass during this whole ordeal too, mind you. I'll refrain from naming a particular doctor though, which is more than polite of me to be honest. I'd have been better served to have just seen another practice, who got me in in less than a week and actually seemed to care. I'd suggest looking for another practice, but this was simply MY awful experience in all openness too. My co-payment for seeing a specialist is $30 per visit. However, there is a little clause in many health insurance policies that allows a nefarious practice to raise that dollar figure by adding additional diagnostics even without the doctor advising it or informing you about it. It's called "PADDING THE BILL." Ethics matters. I had Dr McPhail for a prostate biopsy. I sat in the room about 20 minutes in the fetal position…read morebefore Dr McPhail came into the room. He inserted the ultrasound which caused very much pain and then he explained that he was going to numb the area where he was going to take the biopsies. After about one minute he started taking biopsies and the pain was excruciating. I could feel the needles as if I had gotten no numbing medicine whatsoever. I was yelling in pain each time he took a sample. That didn't seem to bother him as he just kept going. When I got home I was in so much pain that I was sweating and nauseous. I called the doctors office and explained my symptoms, they told me to go to the emergency room even though I did not have an elevated temperature. The person I was talking to at the doctors office did not seem to know for sure what was going on, she was just repeating what she had been told by someone else. I decided to wait a little while to see if the nausea and sweats would pass. I stopped sweating about four hours after the procedure. I stop being so nauseous after about 5 1/2 hours. Looking back it seems to me that the pain from the procedure must have been what caused the sweats and my nausea. It must have been quite traumatic to my body to have caused that reaction. Nowhere in the literature that I have looked at that I found where they warn of such pain caused by this procedure. It is now halfway through the day after the procedure and I still have not heard from the doctors office. To be fair on this review the office staff was very nice.
