I've had to start over at DUKE. Now I'm paying to repeat what was done last year. When contacted about me having to pay to repeat tests that were of no use, I was told, "well you received the service". Even though it was botched, too bad. I think if they took their car to be fixed and the mechanic messed up, they would have a different take at it. Thank God I'm not on deaths door. Don't waste your time or money with these people. He inserted the ultrasound which caused very much pain and then he explained that he was going to numb the area where he was going to take the biopsies. After about one minute he started taking biopsies and the pain was excruciating. I could feel the needles as if I had gotten no numbing medicine whatsoever. I was yelling in pain each time he took a sample. That didn't seem to bother him as he just kept going. When I got home I was in so much pain that I was sweating and nauseous. I called the doctors office and explained my symptoms, they told me to go to the emergency room even though I did not have an elevated temperature. The person I was talking to at the doctors office did not seem to know for sure what was going on, she was just repeating what she had been told by someone else. I decided to wait a little while to see if the nausea and sweats would pass. I stopped sweating about four hours after the procedure. I stop being so nauseous after about 5 1/2 hours. Looking back it seems to me that the pain from the procedure must have been what caused the sweats and my nausea. It must have been quite traumatic to my body to have caused that reaction. Nowhere in the literature that I have looked at that I found where they warn of such pain caused by this procedure. It is now halfway through the day after the procedure and I still have not heard from the doctors office. To be fair on this review the office staff was very nice.

I went to Duke Medical Center and had my prostate removed robotically. My recovery was successful. Dr. Chamberlain told me I could not be seen by any other urologist in Pinehurst Surgical Clinic because I went to Duke. I must now find a urologist out of town due to no other ones practicing locally. I find this to be very unfair.

Dr Tapscott promised she would talk to her after the surgery. She would run hot and cold, treat use with disrespect on one visit and then tell us on the next how we were her favorite patients! One of my cylinders was a lot shorter than the other, she told me to keep cycling it and at 1 year check up she would look at it! that visit never took place. She " left" Carolina urology! I happened to call to see if my follow up appointment was still good and I was informed she had left and they would give no further information. That is how I found out she was gone! Then my appointment was mysteriously canceled! Left out in the cold! Carolina Urology practice was just as guilty! They didn't care either, just wanted all of her patients gone, or so it seems. When I called to confirm the appointment 3 days before the actual appointment date, they said they needed to cancel/reschedule it. 3A. They scheduled me with a nurse practitioner, my problem required a specialist. 3B. The NP they scheduled me with was a female. The problem I was being treated for required a male physician for multiple reasons as I am a male (especially because this is a urology clinic). I went back to my PCP for a referral to a different urologist.

I'm 93 years old, my son drove me down in the bitter cold for January appointment, which was still on MyChart as an active appointment, only to find our appointment was cancelled, which was both shocking and unacceptable. When we complained, Duke Urology blacklisted us and told my son and me that if we do not like it, then seek help for Urology somewhere else. We were told again to "Go Somewhere Else" twice again this morning. So, we are asking our primary for a referral somewhere else.

The nurse that was on duty nurse Junior RN literally argued back-and-forth with my daughter about my pain as opposed to doing my EKG as I started to experience tightness in my chest. He was so nasty and disrespectful. I will say the attended Alex, who came to my rescue was a godsend. My pain level was beyond 10 only to find out. I had a 10 mm kidney stone and the pain was excruciating. I would never go back to the emergency room at Wesley Long.
