I had a floor lamp that needed a special halogen bulb and after years of standing in a corner of our music room at home. I took it in to Southside vacuum Center and a new bulb was quickly found and replaced in its socket. Took it home and turned on the roster switch and brilliant white light flooded the entire room. I was so happy with the customer service I received from the gentleman (who I assume is the owner), when I took some antique lamps to be re-wired. He was friendly and gave me a rough quote for the work to be done. He was also super fast. I expected over a week to hear back, but he called me in three days to say my lamps were ready. Not only did he re-wire both lamps, but he also changed out the harps and replaced the felt on the bottom of the lamps. When I told him I wanted to be able to put a higher wattage bulb in the lamps to be able to read, he suggested a three way bulb. Brilliant! He installed a fixture that works for a 3-way bulb. I am very happy with his work. He even helped me carry the lamps to and from my car when I dropped off and picked them up! Now THAT'S service! :) read more

Took in my upright vacuum cleaner to get it back In shape and the owner was very nice and explained everything to me that needed to be done on it and he had it ready to pick up in a few days time. Michael was extremely helpful and polite. He fixed our immediate vacuum problem for just $12.50 and gave us a fair quote for a complete service down the road. This was a completely different experience from the one my wife had with the place in McHenry Village, where the person she dealt with was rude and unprofessional. I never thought to take my vacuum in for cleaning or maintenance for that matter. But searching online to see about evaluating my vacuum situation was a last stitch effort prior to dropping $200-300 for a new vacuum. Wow, am I glad I did. And this place had consistent positive accounts and close enough to me so took the chance. The gentleman was quick to identify the issue and it would be a quick fix for little money. I opted to pay for full maintenance which wasn't much more- since I don't know the last time I washed my filters- oh, and had no idea I was to be in charge of 3 filters!!! Upon pick up, I seriously didn't recognize my vacuum (Shark- bought in 2016/2017 brand new). The canister appeared to be washed out, and he showed me the new filters in all 3 spots that he replaced. It looked shiny new. Friendly service, and quick, ready in a day (though I told him I was in no hurry to do housework). Ha! The $60 bucks was worth it and I'm happy to bring it back. read more

I have been to all three Vacuum Repair places on McHenry a few times each. This one is the best. I am very happy with them. I brought in my Morse Evolution for repairs (an amazing Vacuum Cleaner, but it's over 10 years old). It needed three things repaired, and it still had good suction on the tall shag, but would NOT get everything off the soft dark green carpet in one room. The guy did MORE than I asked for, replaced everything that needed it, repaired things, cleaned it really good inside, and charged me a VERY reasonable amount of money. And the suction is now as powerful as brand new. I was amazed. I also bought a new vacuum cleaner there because the suction was so bad on my old one, and the wheels broke right away, but he repaired that and one other thing under the warranty. Also, compared to certain other places, this place is CLEAN and the people are honest. They are by the Goodwill donation spot, north of the Safeway a bit. read more

We are so happy that we got the vacuum fixed. It had been broken quite a while, but since it was a Dyson, we really wanted to fix it. Michael told us he would call with an estimate, and he kept his word. The repairs were completed in a timely manner. We were pleased that it was able to be repaired, and at a reasonable cost. I have a lamp that needs repair every once in awhile. Once I took it to a "lighting" store and they kept it for 3 weeks and when I went to check on their progress I found they had not touched it. I took it to southside Vacuum on McHenry Ave and Michael fixed it in an hour.I took it again today because it has a specialty bulb that is hard to replace and he inserted it in a minute. No charge. Took my almost non-functioning vac in and was met a very friendly staff person. He was able to repair two cracked hoses and change out all the filters for a very low price. Took it home and tried it out. Where it use to take three passes to clean the rug I was able to do it in one. Repair time was very short. Such great service and speed! I dropped my vacuum cleaner off yesterday about 45 minutes before closing, and they called me with an estimate first thing this morning. After I gave them the go ahead, they call back an hour later to say it was done. Super polite and super expedient, they really couldn't have been better. I also like that they gave me multiple options and price estimates for the repair that my vacuum needed.
