I greatly appreciate the service I received. When planning my mother's memorial lunch I honestly could not make another decision and everything seemed more complicated than it was. I happen to call and at a particularly low moment I confess to the gentlemen who answered the phone what I was dealing with and that I just didn't know how much of everything I should get. He talked me through it, gave me advice on what to get and in some cases not get, and told me he could pull it all together quickly if I wanted to come right away. I pulled in to the shop, they loaded it carefully into my car, and the gentlemen who helped said with a sincere and honest delivery "I am so sorry for your loss". I asked them to hold a keg for us, and they put MY F*&+ING NAME ON IT, and then they go and SELL IT OUT FROM UNDERNEATHE US TO SOMEONE ELSE.... With no replacement of this seasonal beer; they blamed it on the Warehouse... They had one in THEIR COOLER WITH MY NAME ON IT and THEY SOLD IT TO SOMEONE ELSE... Joe and Al (the owners) should be ashamed of themselves for a lack of accountability and trust... As a loyal customer of their business for 20+ years, and someone who buys $200+ kegs more than once a month from them, this is UNACCEPTABLE. Not bad if you want to buy beer and ice for reasonable prices and have the convince of not getting out of the car. However I do not recommend large purchases such as draft systems. I recently dropped off 4 bags of cans for recycling and was credited for 37 total cans. That's 3 supermarket bags worth plus one large bed bath and beyond bag which is at least 3 of those smaller bags. When I looked at my receipt, I went back to double check and they confirmed I only had 37 cans. That means I had roughly 9 cans in each bag which is ridiculous and obviously not the case. I wrote them via their website after I thought more about it and never heard back. I should have been concerned when they asked me how many cans I had when I first came in. Total rip off and shady business practice. I don't really care about the 5ish dollars, it's more the point--how many other people are they stealing from on a daily basis? read more

I was VERY pleased with my experience using Southtown Beverages's bottle return service as a fundraiser for my sixth grade students. They were able to keep a running tab for us over the 6-7 weeks we were collecting. Every time I drove through, I was greeted politely, they took the bottles right out of my car, and counted them honestly. I would highly recommend them to others! I always go out of my way to buy beer at Southtown. It isn't fancy, it isn't Wegmans, its like Ollie's for beer. The prices are great, including their discounted micro-brew section where you can mix and match cases, as well as their normal stock beer. They also occasionally have great sales like when I got Blue for $10/case. They also take your cans and bottles out of your car and count them for you. But bottom line I go back because of the service here. They go out of their way to make sure you don't have to carry your own cases to the car (if you've chosen to get out, walk around and browse). Not only that, despite what the first reviewer had to say, they have spoken with me and my brother AT LENGTH multiple times about our kegerators, that we didn't even buy from them. When I bought a keg there (which i've done half a dozen times), they always ask me how everything is running and then provide advice, even drawing pictures for me to understand how it can work better. I've had issues with foaming and also with having the wrong connections. They sold me a used $10 part and didn't try to sell me a whole new system. They've also recommended multiple times to shop online for a particular item (tap fan) that they didn't sell but knew would make my system better. In other words, I have no idea where that guy is coming from saying they will screw you, sounds like someone is confused, or maybe just confused about the difference between the expensive draft systems he has seen in bars and the $160 sankey system you put in an old fridge, or maybe just confused about what "screwing" is? They are very nice people, great prices, and its convenient (other than W. Henrietta rd, which sucks), it is the best beer store in Rochester, I send everyone I know there. read more

My daughter and I dropped off 5 contractor bags of bottle and cans. They filled the entire backseat and trunk.The guy asked us how we could fit so many bags in our car. I was asked to drive up while they counted and a minute or so later they came back with the count of 400 bottles. I was puzzled because each bag had to be at least 400. They told my daughter there were a lot of non deposit bottles in it. I was stuck because the bags were in their room but I will never return again. I have a video of the amount of cans I have if anyone would like to see, Thieves!!! Please go some where else or demand for someone to watch them! read more
