I was seen at this clinic on 7/30/25 for Visual Disturbances which I've had in the past but this time I'm seeing squiggly lines and visual disturbances all day and it started happening to this affect 3 days ago I was seen by Optometrist Dr Doctor who did an exam and said my Retinas were healthy and what I had were floaters which I already knew but in the past this issue would resolve normally within an hour and I would get them once in a while but not every day all day which is what is happening now I told this to the Optometrist who had no time for questions nor did he ask me if I had any So basically they allowed me to leave with this issue which again I'm gett all day and has not decreased without any follow up for me at all I called the nurse line through my insurance who stated they should have also discussed the medications I was on as well as address some type of follow up I have requested a 2nd MD opinion offered by my company This clinic will send me an exorbitant bill for basically do an exam telling me I have floaters and allowing me to leave with my vision impaired with absolutely no follow up instructions Terrible care I'm supposed to just live with these visual disturbances all day every day now I'm tempted to notify the Attorney General office about this clinic terrible experience now I'll have to incur even more heal care costs because I'm not going to live with dots and squiggly lines in my vision all day I expect the manager of this clinic to return my call read more

Took my daughter out of school for an 830 eye exam... First time ever for her going to the eye doctor. However, upon arrival I had to wait one minute (you'll understand why I'm mentioning the one min) and then was denied service because we were outside of the "late" window. The receptionist said that their cut off for late appointments is eight minutes. I looked at the time and said what time is it? She said nine minutes! I honestly wish they either would have told me they have an "eight minutes" late policy (though I was standing there waiting) or honestly why have such a tight schedule? No thanks! I scheduled an eye exam for September 10 picked out my frames added scratch cover and they questioned me on my insurance coverage and asked me that when I got home if I would email a screenshot of my coverage to prove it so I did that when I got home, they said they were going to check with my insurance company as well which I am on Medicare I'm 71 years old. September 12 they called me back and said they got everything confirmed with my insurance and I was correct about my coverage and that my copay is $250. Which covered the difference on my frames and pay for the scratch cover I asked if I could pay that when I came in to pick up my glasses. They said my bill needs to be paid in full before they even put the order in so I gave her a credit card payment over the phone October 2. I a text message that my glasses are in same day I get a bill for $85.70. I tried calling them They rerouted me to Chaska routed me back to billing in which I got voicemail. I left them a message as far as my bill first of all they told me that I had to be paid in FULL before they submit my order. they turned around and took my credit card payment and divvy it up between all the different charges, which that was ALL covered through my Medicare insurance and I upped my frame to $359 pair Medicare will cover $200 of my frames this was all confirmed with UHC so now I've been waiting all day to try and get this straightened out. Medicare tried calling them and they got the same runaround as I did so not only are they billing me an additional $85.70 they owe me nine dollars as they overcharged me according to my insurance my total amount out of pocket is $241 which $250 was paid on September 12 . I will never use this provider again! read more

If you want to talk to a real person then forget using this company ... it is virtually impossible to get a hold of a real person and when you select a call back request they ignore you. They sent my wife's prescription to the wrong Insurance company because they did not listen/follow her instructions in her message - they just went ahead and sent it in to the old (wrong) insurance company. She has been trying to get this corrected for several days and cannot talk to a real person. THEY ARE A FRICKEN JOKE! read more

They seemed nice enough but insisted that I needed cataract surgery ASAP and that they couldn't do anything more for me for the blurry double vision. Went to another eye doctor for a second opinion and they started from scratch with the Rx and gave it a healthy bump and lo and behold, no more double vision or blurriness. I feel like they were more interested in pushing the surgery than giving me an Rx that would allow me to see. read more

Requested an appointment for first Saturday opening. Was informed by the staff it was over two months out, but proceeded. Upon arriving the day of my appointment, the office was closed. No phone call or anything advising me my appointment was cancelled. Now I need to find another doctor after already waiting over two months to be seen. read more

My son was diagnosed with Lazy eyes when he went for Wayzata early school checkup and I was looking to see a doctor. Based on reviews, I went to see Dr Christopher Freed in 2017 and he asked us to wait it out and see if it improves. Next we went in 2018 and he did a couple of more tests and he clearly explained to us on why it is something not to worry about (1) he is able to have depth perception (2) can see with both eyes - he makes the effort. While still there is a small problem, he has asked to observe for 6 more months and come back if there is a problem, but very likely it will resolve by itself. We also had a consultation for my wife and he recommended that her eye problems were due to dryness and provided an OTC eye drops. I was playing outside with the kids and he came out of the clinic to explain what was happening. He is one of the best Eye docs we have seen and wish every doctor had this kind of patience to observe, explain and dianose. read more

I had an accident on a weekend and burned my cornea. I went to urgent care but their recommendation was to see an eye doctor within 24 hours. I'm not even a patient of Southwest Eye Care, but I googled and noticed that they had Saturday hours by appointment and I gave it a shot. Dr Chris Freed met me at the clinic within a half hour, provided the care I needed to begin to heal, and even called me the next morning (on a Sunday) to check in on me. Thank you so much! read more

I like the doctor that I have there but I am considering leaving the clinic as I've had many problems with this clinic first of all when you get there you never get in on time. Then there was an issue with my glasses and returning calls and trying to find out where my glasses were as an asked to have them sent to bond. Also when my husband injured as I recalled there in for some reason their emergency line wasn't working that evening.. They just don't return calls you if you wanna call back you need to go online and do a email to that then they seem to call back but then when you asked for that them to do something they don't do it they sent you text messages saying that the glasses are ready but they're not. read more

Wow! Scratched cornea emergency on a Sunday morning. Miserable to say the least! One phone call is all it took to be connected to the on call doctor....so refreshing in today's day and age of automated phone services to be connected with a live person. This place is amazing. I had an evergreen needle scrap off part of my eye two day before I was leaving town for Thanksgiving. Dr. Chris Freed got me in right away and was able to take away the pain instantly. He end up placing a bandage on my eyeball then he called in his wife to look at it who is also an Optometrist. Dr. Chris Freed was tied up the next day and wanted someone to be able to see how much it had healed before I left town. I meet with Dr. Amy Freed the next day at there Norwood location. She decided it was closed enough to healed that it would be better to take if off then leave it on for the weekend. Good and friendly service so far, but what Dr. Amy Freed said next is what WOWed me. "If it still bothers you a bit in the morning we can put a new bandage on. I'll take some of these bandage home and if need be you can come by our house on the way out of town or we can run by your house and put a new one in. " The next morning was Thanksgiving and Dr. had offer to fix my problem at there home or even drive to my house. This whole event was way beyond what I would ever expect in regards to customer care. Two Dr. willing to do what ever was best for me. Luckily I did not have to take them up on this offer my eye felt great the next day just like Dr. Amy Freed had thought. If want great service and knowledgeable eye care I would highly recommend you go to one of the South West Eye Care locations. read more

I've finally found my eye care home! After trying other eye clinics and retail eye places, I've found that Southwest Eye Care does it all. I've been trying to find contact lenses that work for me. Other places seemed to throw samples at me with the direction of "try this". Southwest applied science and medical knowledge to find a solution to my contact problems. The technicians are kind and helpful. Three of them worked together giving me opinions on finding the right frames for my face. I left feeling great. Dr. Freed is knowledgable and spent time explaining exactly what my eye issues were and had solutions and options for me to try. Was a long time patient. No complaints about the Drs, but rather than informing us that our insurance did not cover routine yearly exams and that they didnt accept our new vision plan, they just went ahead and billed us full price. Wont be going back. read more
