I wanted to know what the scents were like so I spent some time checking them out. This was my first time in their store. Everyone was some what friendly. Some were great and others were really not engaged and standoffish. The store is definitely expensive. I saw a few things I wanted and will be coming back for later. I was able to find a great Maison Berger (this was the last one and was the display) and since it was my first time I got 10% off. The lady in the gifts/candle section was able to help me with my purchase and decent experience. Might go back to check out new scents and purchase a couple for family.

I sincerely wished that I had gotten the name of the wonderful man, who was working at Bering's and who immediately began helping me find what I needed to buy. He literally walked me around, asking others who also worked there, where to find these items. Of course we ended up in the right section with a multitude of selections which I truly appreciated. I found what I needed and I was a very happy customer! This person's excellent professional service was extremely appreciated. Next time I'm at Bering's I will try to find him, so I can edit this review and add his name so he gets recognized for his over-the-top service!!!

I got the Purdy extension pole for painting, and it works like a charm with the Purdy roller with the quick click) and rather abysmally with the Home Depot brand Wooster (that I bought because Sherwin Williams already closed for the day). Andreas said I would be treated like family and wow the employees all are able to look me up without asking for a phone number or anything by the second visit. I was greeted at the front by a friendly lady who guided me to what I was looking for. She went above and beyond with explaining the different types of pesticides and her personal experiences and recommended methods of application (scatter the boric acid around instead of a straight line for roaches, which I didn't know!). It was a lot of fun browsing the store because there was so much to take in. The layout is like an antique store but for hardware, from plumbing to doorknobs to cleaning supplies, they had just about everything. I had an extremely great experience at Southland and will be back! And do not fret about parking, there is a large - by Montrose standards - parking lot in the back.

On my way after a Yelp pick Up at Cosmic Juice across the street, I saw Southland Hardware and we decided to drop by. It was like going to the candy store for my husband. He was enthralled with all of the knick knacks that he was in one aisle for a long time while I chased around my three year old who was equally entertained by all of the parts such a store can have. They sold everything from small appliances to gardening items and anything you might need to help your home. I didn't know what anything was except for the snacks and they had a good and unique variety of those. Everyone was helpful and super chill. I appreciate the chill these days a lot more than I used to. What a great neighborhood find and yes things might seem a little bit more than say Amazon or another big box store but putting money into a community store helps save your community in the long run. You help the people who live there and put back into the place you live.

Either way, plants don't like me. Much to my sadness! I received a peace lily when my aunt passed and for many sentimental reasons I am dead set on keeping this one alive. It's been hard, and I've tried everything mentioned online- changing the location, repotting, giving water daily, giving water once a week, etc. Nothing worked! Finally a friend mentioned this place, and how you can take your plants there, and they'll provide TLC and I figured what the heck! But TLC is the bare minimum, they do so much more! They drilled a hole into my pot for better drainage, changed the soil, added fertilizer, and some rocks on top for better protection. I feel like now I have a fighting chance for my plant. I didn't even know this was a service that any place provided. I felt so looked after and taken care of. Everyone here is so kind to boot, and it's a beautiful nursery with so much parking. The pottery and planter selection is gorgeous!, and the little shop inside is full of charm (curated clothing, glassware, and home pieces) that feel effortless but elevated. Right next to Tiny Boxwoods and Tiny's Milk and Cookies, so it's perfect for a relaxing browse before grabbing a treat or lunch. Great stop for a little inspiration (and maybe a splurge!).
