My family and I came here on a Friday and had a fantastic time! Pros: - About a 50-minute drive (35 minutes without traffic) from Bed-Stuy, and found street parking right outside the entrance. - Easy check-in and seamless locker experience similar to Sojo Spa, where you put your shoes and clothes in separate lockers. They provide a bathrobe, a hand towel, and slippers. No outside flip flops allowed. When you are ready to shower, you can ask for larger shower towels. - Large, spacious, and clean facility with Greek-esque blue and white architectural details. We enjoyed the open layout with the different heated pools, the vast array of strong jets, and the hot tubs. All the jet buttons worked, and the jets turned on right away. We loved the large Himalayan Salt sauna, which was also the hottest. Overall it wasn't crowded at all! - My daughter loved the outdoor pool with the overhead waterfall, the indoor pool right by the bar, the playhouses in the relaxation area, and the kids' playroom. - The hydrotherapy pools, cold baths, and steam room in the changing areas/locker rooms were clean and well-maintained. - The Korean food is delicious! The Korean Beef Stew was some of the best we've had in a while. - Kids allowed (all ages accepted!), and my daughter had a blast! Cons: - Some of the rooms, such as the relaxation room at the top, could use an upgrade. - The co-ed outdoor dry sauna needs to be much hotter. Wish they had a co-ed steamroom like at AIRE Ancient Baths. - Some of the shower heads in the sitting shower area were weak and needed fixing. - The foosball table for kids was missing the ball, and needed extras around. - $13 ramen was the 85-cent Paldo Gomtang Korean Beef Flavored Instant Noodle Soup you can get at H-Mart. Note: - Take advantage of the 30% off admission special offers on https://shop.nyspacastle.com/newyork/index.php. $59.50 for adults M-T and $77 for adults F-Sunday. You cannot redeem and use it within 24 hours! "Any earlier attempt to redeem is invalid. If you plan to visit the facility within 24 hours, please make your purchase in-store." So much fun, can't wait to come back with a large group!

I want to preface this by saying that I came here with my mom on Mother's Day so my hope is that this place is better on less busy days. It was so crowded that none of the hydrotherapy massages were open. There was a wait for everything from the pools to the saunas. Once i finally got a place at a hydrotherapy massage the jets were so strong it nearly blew me out of the water quite literally. Think a shiatsu massage but with water pounding your back. I mean if that's what you are looking for then power to you. To be fair some of the other hydrotherapy seats were gentler. When I saw that this place would be kid friendly I really underestimated just how many kids would be there. It felt like a water park with hot water. As if water parks could get any more disgusting! In keeping with its water park motif, the floors were so dirty with cups and bandaids littering the area around the pool. They didn't have enough slippers so they just gave me one that was 2 sizes too small. I guess it didn't matter anyway because someone ended up stealing my slippers. Plus there was hair floating around in the pool. The saunas were okay but so crowded and did not seem very clean. The food was mediocre. I ordered a dolsot bibimbap and they used the wrong type of rice which was undercooked and they barely gave you any meat. I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because my mom and I did not let this ruin our day. We had a good laugh about it afterwards and it certainly was a memorable Mother's Day. We had fun but was it worth $110 per person?

I have to say for my first time at the spa place I had a good time with my friends. I always heard bad stories about this location, so I never tried it, but my friend was like she never experienced bad things there and when she goes it usually during the week when there's not a lot of people and that's what we did and we were able to enjoy every part of the location. Everybody was nice and polite. Everybody was friendly. The drinks were good. The food was good. The ambience was good. Everything about it was good. We were there from morning to close that's how much fun and comfortable. We were being there and relaxed. I will definitely will be going again. So don't go by the bad publicity or bad information you get from people try for yourself to find out how the location is.

I've been a loyal Spa Castle customer from day one, even during the times they closed for renovations. I've always supported this place and truly wanted it to continue being great. Last Wednesday, we visited from around 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM (they close at 9:30 PM), so we were mindful not to rush them or their closing shift. Overall, the spa experience itself was good. The facilities were fine, and the food was absolutely chef's kiss as always -- that part never disappoints. I also understand that prices have gone up, and while Spa Castle is now priced similarly to SoJo Spa, I didn't mind paying more since everything else in life has also gone up. However, the experience was completely ruined at the very end. When we were about to leave, we realized there were no hair dryers at all -- not even one. Yes, you read that right: a spa with NO hair dryers. I asked the three ladies at the front desk if there were any hair dryers available, and they told me, "We don't have any. Customers steal them." I was shocked. That is not the customer's responsibility -- it's the spa's responsibility to manage and replace basic amenities. A hair dryer is a basic service at any spa, especially in winter, when it's cold outside and people cannot walk out with wet hair. When we went to check out, a male and a female staff member were at the counter. The man asked how our experience was, and I honestly said everything was fine except for the fact that there were no hair dryers, which was very disappointing. He looked at the female staff member, and she said, "We do have one hair dryer. Did you ask them?" I told her yes -- we asked twice, and three employees told us there were none. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, her tone was rude and dismissive. There was no effort to resolve the issue or even acknowledge how uncomfortable and unfair that situation was. No spa should send guests out into the cold with wet hair after they paid full price for the experience. Sadly, the lack of basic amenities and the unprofessional attitude at the front desk completely ruined what could have been a great visit. I was very disappointed, especially as someone who has supported Spa Castle for years. At this point, I would rather go to King Spa or SoJo Spa, where customer service and basic spa standards are taken seriously. Very upsetting experience, and sadly, I don't think I'll be returning.

This is my first time at Spa Castle so I can't comment on the facility and changes pre renovation. We decided to take advantage of the spa on veterans day, which was a Monday since the weather was fairly warm for fall. I was dreading to see the place packed with kids since school was out, but was pleasantly surprised. The spa was fairly empty and had so many open spaces to eat, sit, and lounge. The locker room was clean and spacious. They provided 2 towels and a robe to be returned unless you want to pay a $35 fee. I started my day exploring all the amenities from top to bottom and was impressed by the nice decor and variety of hydrotherapy jets in the pools. The outdoor deck had 2 large outdoor pools, 2 hot tubs and a dry sauna in the middle. I enjoyed trying all the massage jets and soaking in the hot tub. The main floor had about 5 dry saunas but the most impressive one was the Himalayan salt sauna. It had lit pink walls and tall mirror ceilings, perfect for selfies. It also felt like the warmest room out of the bunch. Other sauna offerings were jade, color therapy, ice, gold, Halotherapy, and infrared. Though we did not eat at Spa Castle, there were two dining options and their prices were not terrible. I think the new admission prices ($110 for adult weekends) have reduced the amount of spa goers, keeping the place clean and spacious. I spent about 6 hours here and could have stayed longer. It was truly a relaxing and therapeutic experience that I recommend. My one complaint is the price of the Korean body scrub for $95, which is almost the price of admission.

I finally returned to Spa Castle after 16 year and it was a fantastic experience. I don't quite remember much from my last visit, I distinctly recall having a great time, and this visit didn't disappoint. We arrived on a Saturday at 10:30 AM, which is pretty soon after their 10am opening, and were pleasantly surprised to find it not crowded at all. I mainly came to test the place before planning a girls spa day for December. Therefore we decided to take full advantage of the facilities trying everything... every floor, every sauna room, steam room, relaxing chairs, pools etc. Overall, we loved the experience, although we did notice that only one sauna was truly hot; the others could have been warmer. I thoroughly enjoyed the steam room in the bath area - you really break a sweat there. I also wanted to address some of the reviews I'd read before going: Contrary to what some ppl claimed, we found that the spa provided everything we needed: robes, towels, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion. I can't believe I paid attention to these reviews and packed unnecessary items like shampoo, conditioner, and slippers and body lotion. And the food was priced FAIRLY. What do guy guys want? A dollar tree meal Did they even go to the lookout floor (level 4) ... we found it to be great, with prices for food that felt appropriate for a spa setting. Overall, our day at Spa Castle was great and I will definitely go ahead to plan a girls spa day for my friend's birthday in December

One of my favorite places to unwind. It is especially nice in the winter with the outdoor heated pool. I find it is always clean and the locker rooms/bathrooms are well maintained. I cannot speak for the food but drink options (non-alcoholic) are good. It can get particularly busy during the weekends but it is perfect on an early weekday.

I took a friend to this spa for their birthday. It was outrageously expensive for a facility that has kids playing everywhere. Robes, slippers, etc weren't provided. We got a massage and it was so rough and not at all relaxing although we asked for less pressure. The pool was packed! But the saunas were empty. I don't think I'd go back. It was a nice thing to do once.

LOVE this place and send all my loved ones here when they are in town. Worth going early or at otherwise not busy times. My girl Emily brought me here and I am hooked. LOVE the pools in petal outlay with ascending temperatures as you bathe clockwise. Love the jet pool where each underwater lounge chair shape has various trigger point jet massage. Each chair is different and if you make your way around entire pool all trigger points will be worked. I was there on a cloudy day and we spent quite a while on roof in hot tub under the soft cool rain, it was dreamy. My favorite part though was the salt scrub! WILD and wonderful. I am a big woman and when I saw the tiny women in bikinis who work you over I was skeptical for about 15 seconds because they are STRONG and do a wonderful job of exfoliating anything from your body that is not healthy glowy skin. Not cheap but worth every penny in my book. I also love how they throw the warm big buckets of water on you to rinse after the almost violent scrubbing. Very fun and leaves you tingly and refreshed. The only thing that I felt was not perfect was... we both had a facial and it too was pricey. I don't mind paying the price for great work and I myself work in the spa industry so can tell you what good work is... the facial technicians seemed bored and unattached to their work. We were both left in room alone for various amounts of time when they would put whatever on our face. I think Im spoiled because the spa where I work the facialists are sublime and are working every minute of your hour and half in chair either with scalp or neck or chest work and they also work on your hands and feet if waiting for a creme or lotion to set or do its work. Here they gingerly touched our faces while working and left us alone a lot. My guess is owner and management does not know this because everything else is SO Great. Bring the Bar up on facials and it will be perfect:) read more

I've been to Spa Castle for different special events to spoil myself or my loved ones for birthdays or just to break the sad cold wintry blues/monotony that it's easy to fall into here in NYC. There are many many temperatures and styles of pools, whirlpools, saunas and showers, options for skin treatments, massage, food, drinks, etc. It's very futuristic and stimulating and very different from what most people think of when they think of "Spa"--It's a bit of an amusement park during busy times with families and holidays. I highly recommend going on a weekday with just one or two close friends or significant other and spending a slow day doing exactly what you want with all the choices you're given. It can get expensive adding things here and there on top of the regular admission price but, it is a very special and specific place to be used sparingly. It's a hike to get to wherever you live so, keep that in mind when you plan your day too. You may want to just fall asleep afterward. Spoil yourself and try something new ! read more

My mother and I (caucasian females ages 58 & 30) went to Spa Castle (SC) this past Sunday from 2:00pm - 8:15pm. Overall we had a good experience and would recommend it to others, but with some considerations (read below). SC is not your normal spa by any stretch, but more like a "Theme Park meets Spa" experience. Things We Really Enjoyed: We enjoyed the vast variety of options that we could do for free. We spent 5.5 out of the 6.25 hours using SC features included with admission. All the different types of saunas were great - the far-infrared Saunas were our favorite (hot but not scorching, soft music, and comfy seating. The Iceland sauna was also an unexpected enjoyment and great respite between other saunas. The Bade pool (the 2nd floor/3rd level outdoor pool) was relaxing and fun. It was unique to be outdoors in the fresh air, but in a large heated pool with a variety of different aqua massage, each section of jets were different and intended to massage various muscle groups. Also outdoors was a wet sauna, a separate waterfall area, heated whirlpool, and pine Hinoki bath (all of which we enjoyed as well). The aqua bar pool (the 2nd floor/3rd level indoor pool) is one of the indoor pools with a few jets similar to the Bade pool and a walk-up (not swim-up as the pool is only waist deep) bar that had delicious non-alcoholic ($8) and alcoholic ($14) beverages. Also indoors is a water foot jet pool and a water body jet pool, which was good. We opted to pay for a foot massage for 30 minutes ($40), which was wonderful and included a leg massage up to the knee. Tip is included in all the prices for spa treatments. No SC staff pressure to purchase additional services other than general admission. The food court (includes salad/light entree bar, Starbucks, little Italy cuisine, sushi, frozen yogurt), juice bar, aqua bar, Korean restaurant, and Tonic lounge were great options for food if you wanted to eat. It was quality food, but was on the pricy side. Open convenient hours 6am-12midnight and liked the free valet service. Things for Consideration: The lobby/ground floor/ 1st level where you enter is where the women's area/locker rooms areseparated from the men's area (the rest of SC is co-ed). In the women's area, other than the 4 bathroom stalls, there are no private enclosed areas to change or shower, therefore you are unavoidably among naked women of all shapes and sizes. You do not need to spend much time in this area except to store your belongings and get your uniform (more on that later), unless you wish to utilize the nude-only pools/baths and showers or not nude-only 2 sauna's. There are additional showers on the 2nd floor/3rd level by the pools, which are a little bit more private and do allow for you to shower in your bathing suit if you would prefer, however you do not have access to your belongings (unless you lug them along), which are 2 floors down. The showers on the 2nd floor have little glass dividers between them, that the 1st floor showers do not have, but they are still open and you still may be showering next to naked women, even if you are not. All other areas are clothed and people need to wear bathing suits in the pools. It was helpful to go to SC already wearing a bathing suit under clothes. The uniforms must be worn - orange t-shirt and pink shorts combo (men wear blue/grey) which run at least 1-2 sizes smaller than stated. I did bring my own pair of cotton shorts, which I wore with their t-shirt, and no one said anything to me. People also brought their own cotton robes & were allowed to wear them. They do not allow you to wear shoes/flip flops of any kind. Prepare to go barefoot. Half of the saunas did not have seats or benches and so we had to sit or lie on mats on the floor. You can really only get between levels by using the stairs. SC only lets elderly people or people with physical challenges/limited mobility use the elevators, which you need to be escorted through a dirty back hallway while barefoot in order to use. Go on a weekday or after 5pm on weekend to avoid crowds and children. If interested in spa treatments you should book before you go or right when you arrive that day. Treatments like massages, facials, scrubs, and wraps cost extra, gratuity is included. Items you should bring: -At least 2 towels - one for the pools and 1 to dry off at the end of the day. SC towels are the size of hand towels and only accessible through the nude-only shower/pool area. - bathing suit - lightweight robe (not necessary but helpful for outside pools) - Plastic bags for wet items - water In Summary, although at times SC lacked peace and tranquility, mostly due to the unknown & busy time that we were there, the advantages outweighed any negative experiences we had. We left there feeling like we enjoyed our day and that it was well worth the admission cost and realized we would be more prepared the 2nd time around. read more

Pretty sure I got a yeast infection either from the outdoor pools or indoor nude baths. I recommend avoiding the nude baths if you have sensitive skin read more

Went there today for the first time and I was baffled by the number of people and lack of relaxation. When I arrived I waited on line which is expected, changed into my suit and headed for the saunas. Every sauna was full of little kids without supervision and they had TABLETS blasting music and games. The kids were disrespectful and left unattended. Tried to move to the indoor pool upstairs with the massage chairs where most jets are broken and the sign that says not children 4.5ft or under was clearly disregarded because it was littered with children as if it was a kiddie pool. The lifeguard that was working said nothing and she didn't ask people to leave when it was over crowded because it only holds 13 people. After going through this I decided to try the outdoor pool because it was cold outside and I figured there wouldn't be as many people BOY WAS I WRONG. Started on the smaller side of the pools next to the outdoor Hotevent tub and this couple was touching each other my younger brother was with me who's 14 and I was appalled....So we moved to the other side where a grown man was standing in the corner facing one of the back jets touching himself..... needless to say we left shortly after which was a shame because we only arrived at 2:30 and didn't really get our money's worth. Won't be coming back. read more

It shouldn't be call a SPA. SPA is a location where you can improve you health, beauty and relax. In spa castle is always crowded and extremely loud in addition to dirtiness. Walking barefoot is insanitary, they do wipe the floor however those wipes do not disinfect the floor. It such an unpleasant experience. They should better look at European spa , which are half price, you are allowed to bring own drinks and some snacks in, you do walk in your own flippers, you have quite and relaxed environment, ppl are coming in to have a relaxed day. read more

I went to Spa Castle last year. Didn't think to much of it. Don't like walking around nude,so i wore my swim suit in the wet sauna and hot tub. Nudity is stupid because all the pubic hair falling off and landing on the seat of the wet sauna...That's Gross. Don't go there nude-it's stupid. read more

I had the opportunity of visiting Spa Castle last week with my brother and since some of the reviews suggested going in a weekday we decided so and had an incredible experience. Clean, not so crowded, good prices, food was good and the body scrub was AWESOME. Still I would have expected a more service oriented culture from the employees especially explaining to us how to navigate the place. As you have probably read you need to be fully naked in the same gender bath premises. If you are not used to hang out naked in front of a crowd the first five minutes will be kind of awkward, but since everyone is naked you will get used to it and employees enforce this. For instance, I saw two or three guys entering the area with shorts only to be followed by one of the employees to explain in simple English "naked or out" (the guy was a Korean). So if you want to stay in the same gender bath area you need to be naked, forget about any unnecessary shyness and enjoy the different temperature pools. There's an open area in the bath in where you can enjoy a body scrub --- yes, you will continue to be naked, but the scrub it's worth the effort. After 30 seconds you will relax and enjoy the rest of the experience forgetting about being naked there. I was worried about the cleanliness of the place (you need to be barefoot), but they made an effort to maintain all floors, saunas & pools very clean. I can tell you that Spa Castle is worth the try and for $35 bucks (entrance fee) you can have relax time. And for the ones worried about the nudity issue just go with someone you feel secure with, like I said I went with my brother, and just enjoy the ride. Definitely I would return any time soon. They don't take American Express. read more
I've been to Spa Castle twice, and both times I've left feeling the same way I went in. I didn't feel more relaxed or zen, so to speak. You are given a wristband that allows you to access your personal lockers and charge food and services you use to your account so you can pay for everything at the end of the day. You are also given shorts and a shirt (hospital scrub type garments) to wear over your bathing suit wherever you go. In the locker rooms, there is ample space to store a large bag or items while you are away, and I'll admit that access to the locker room and your personal items was always very convenient. There are also lots of showers and nude pools/hot tubs for use down there too, which wasn't my cup of tea. Out of locker room and in the main area of the building, there are 3 floors of things to do. The main floor has about 8 saunas with different temps. and themes to them, and one "ice room" that frankly isn't too cold. Perhaps after coming from a sauna it felt chillier. There are many places to sleep and lay, both inside and out. The small food buffet is on this floor too, and as you're not allowed to bring your own food, things get very expensive. Food is weighed and its $12-13 per pound! The hot food and meats were cold and not enjoyable. The second floor is where there are large pools with massage jet seats and fountains outside, as well as a kids pool. There are also a lot of other spa services offered there (massages, facials, mani/pedi, etc.) but at an expensive price. There is a bar with a mini swim up pool inside, with $10 beers and $14-$15 and up for mixed drinks and specialties. People were also eating lots of fried food and snacks they ordered inside the pool because it has tables in it, which didn't comfort me since I saw floating crumbs. Yuck. The third floor has sun decks (small areas) and a restaurant for those who rather see a menu than a buffet. I am making the obvious assumption that weekdays are less crowded and more relaxing. However, since I went on a weekend both times, the overall experiences I had were not amazing. The first time I went for the experience to see what it was like. The second time, I went for a family member's birthday since he wanted to go. The whole Saturday for food, drinks, and general admission cost me alone $80. The place does a nice job of keeping things looking clean, however, knowing that so many people are sitting on chairs sweating without having showered between hot saunas and the outside heat, laying on the same used mats, and a very warm overcrowded pool that felt like a city public pool didn't make me feel clean and good. Also, the children are all over the place. I love kids, but not when there's no regard for space and splashing into my beer in what is supposed to be an ADULT pool bar, and lots of crowds and noise on a RELAXING spa day. And frankly, I don't want or have to pay so much extra for other services that I could find way better and cheaper elsewhere in Queens. All in all, I would go once to have an interesting day here, but I wouldn't go more than that to have a relaxed spa experience. It's not personal, quiet, and chill. It felt more like a water park that provided some quiet sleeping spaces and saunas here and there. read more

Website clearly says children 1-2 years old are a reduced rate. After lugging both kids out there they tell me that means 12 months to 24 months, so not really 2 year olds, but only the first month of being a two year old. It might sound like I'm making this up, but it's true, and they should change their website to reflect their actual policy. Place was PACKED on a Saturday with no chairs to lounge on outside. Most of the pools were packed to capacity too. Food is overpriced and pretty bad, and you obviously have no options. Will not return. read more

This place is getting so run down. You can't even walk in peace, it's always someone telling you what u can and cannot do. They charge $40 for kids no problem, my two daughters went they with me and my husband one is 12 my next daughter is 13. The life guard going to tell me and my husband that we can't lay down on the chairs one of us have to go with the kids in the pool. The pool is 2 feet deep like seriously, if that's the case charge kids price difference from adult price and send home the life guard. I came here to relax and make the kids have some fun not run behind my teenage daughters in the pool. I'm surely not coming back here. read more

My sister, mother and I spent the day at Spa Castle. After reading some reviews, I was a little skeptical. Our experience, overall, was pretty decent. We got the k scrub special, the scrub was amazing the massage was decent can't complain but it wasn't the best I have ever gotten. The locker room hot tubs were nice, relaxing enough and same for the saunas. The rooftop scene was a disaster, especially if you are looking to relax, avoid this all together if you want to have a pleasant time. It was full of horny adults, drunk couples and screaming kids. Not to mention the smell of pee everywhere. Also, the food was overpriced and prepackaged microwaved food but honestly, I didn't expect differently so this didn't matter much to me. I am barring the rooftop experience from my review because I did not and would not go there, and would give the place a one star review if I based it off of that. Everything the rooftop has, your locker room has. If you go with your boyfriend or husband, obviously they can't be with you as the locker rooms are gender specific and nude only but for me this isn't an issue. The facility was clean enough. The front desk staff were awfully rude but the k scrub ladies were great. Overall, we had a pretty good day and left feeling very very relaxed. The spa we usually go to is in NJ but tolls are expensive and it's a trip. We'd come back for another mini staycation! read more

The line was very long and not enough people to check you in. The employees were not very friendly. The atmosphere felt more like a water park. It's way too busy and felt more like a hang out spot. NOT WHAT I'M USED TO AT ALL! The hot stone massage was horrible and it felt like I was pressured to leave a tip, which I did. Couldn't believe I was fully clothed during a massage. NOT WHAT I'M USED TO AT ALL! They should just call it a pool/hang out spot for kids. It's over priced and they charge you for everything. Go with your own towel, washcloth, soap and robe, you'll thank me later. read more

Came here with my husband about 3 years ago for a Hot Stone Massage. We previously had a couples massage on a cruise ship, which was an unforgettable experience, so we were both looking forward to it, the place looked amazing in photos. From the very beginning things were a bit uncomfortable; the front desk gave us watch-like bracelets without explaining what they were and just pointed to the framed sign that read "$50 if you loose your bracelet" !! Aside from the fact that everyone walks around naked in the locker rooms, they dont give you disposable shoes so you walk around barefoot! My husband came out of the men's room with a traumatized expression on his face after seeing too many naked men lol. The massage experience was NOT relaxing at all. It was too rough, it actually hurt for days after. At the end the man that was doing mine offered to help me put my bra on! which just proved again that there wasn't a slightest hint of manners or training. I would never get a facial in this "spa". The worst part: i now a have two gift cards to this spa.... not sure what to do with them... :( read more
i can not say enough good things about spa castle...its fabulous! i have been wanting to go to spa castle ever since i knew jimjilibangs existed in New York! I went a few times while in Korea and absolutely fell in love with the idea. The spa castle here is even better than the ones I've been to in Korea because they have a nice outdoor section (bring your own big towel if you want to swim outside)! after you pay, theres a men's section and women's section, make sure you enter through the correct door because at one point, there was a guy standing at the doorway looking very confused...luckily, i was not naked yet. they give you a bracelet so you can use it to (un)lock your shoe locker and your clothing locker as well as charge you for services rendered/food. there are 4 hot jacuzzis, 2 cold baths, wet sauna, dry sauna, showers and a scrub section. yes, you have to be completely naked to partake in any of the locker room jacuzzis, it's how they do it in Korea, this is a Korean spa, get over it! You are much more conspiculous when you try to cover up your bits with their tiny towels. just let go and enjoy. you can also get a body scrub ($95) and massage in the locker rooms. the scrub hurts like hell, but is well worth it if you want to shed some dead skin, its about a half hour long and you are naked on a slab next to other naked women (however you can get this service in a private room with an extra cost) and the massage is about another half hour long (fyi, they will tell you to shower off and sit in the jacuzzi in between, which can be confusing bc they ladies who give you your scrubs don't speak english very well) after you are done with the locker room section you can put on your uniforms and enjoy the co-ed sections upstairs, where they have several saunas (jade, salt, etc.), starbucks, buffet, reclining section, outdoor pool. you can spend the whole day there. my advice is to be as respectful of the rules set by spa castle as you can be...there are rules for a reason...and there were other patrons there that did not follow them. They can only keep the spa clean and enjoyable if everyone would do as requested...so shower in the locker rooms before stepping into the jacuzzis (no one wants to bath in your dirt, and you will get nasty looks, and rightfully so); dry off or shower and change out of your bathing suits before you put on your uniform when you are in the common areas because you are dripping all over the clean floors!; control your children, people come here to relax, it's a spa! i can imagine it being a lot less enjoyable when it's crowded, it already felt a bit crowded on a Thursday. they have thought over EVERYTHING here to make your stay as enjoyable as possible...you come out groggy and puffy-faced, but happily relaxed...well worth the $35 entry (we came on a week day) + $95 body scrub (my skin is still baby-butt soft!) + $30 meal (decent nyc prices for standard korean fare)...CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK! **the free shuttle is on the corner of Union and 39th Street, they don't specify where it is online, so we were wandering around hoping we don't miss it, but luckily bumped into a lady who worked there. read more

Enjoyable experience. Because the baths are separated by gender, you might have less fun with a mixed group than just girls. Book your treatments in advance if you're picky, they have three levels of spa services that increase in price and privacy. read more

never have i felt more comfortable as a woman... no jk. this was my first korean bath house - spa experience. i went with three female co-workers. stupid us, we were not aware of the first floor gender segregated nude baths. but guess what, we ended up loving the first floor the best out of the entire building. the only relaxing part of spa castle was the small sauna on the first floor on your way upstairs. i figure most people miss it and so it stayed empty while we used it. however, as soon as you go to the other floors it's a lot of little kids and families running around and general buzzing. i enjoyed the experience as a whole, but walked out of there with a headache. if you go, check out their cigarette depositories outside the spa because i know i felt like i needed one afterward. there were some questionable moments where we saw some women hugging the water jets for too long. sadly this is true. i am probably not coming back.. but i still pass on the legend of spa castle to all my friends. I'm sure it's better on a weekday morning. it's just too noisy on weekends but i appreciate the idea. read more

Spa Castle missed on lots of spots, even though I welcome a facility in Flushing/College Point I wish the management can try and experience what's wrong so I don't have to go farther for my spa day. Has anyone notice the towel stinks? No sure why it has to be green, where they can't use bleach to disinfect their towels. and charging customer for towel or change of uniform isn't a great practice. I have a full spa day at the other place and took two meals and a drink/shaved ice because I am able to change out of stinky uniform anytime. When you only have one uniform you make people leave and spend money outside. The quality of foods are below restaurant quality in Flushing area. The shower water had problem for years, going hot and cold, very dangerous. I do hope the business success but these problem need to be addressed. The chairs/resting lounge need to be cleaned, some are just stink. The main room is just too noisy. Not sure why there is a sleeping area in the noisy environment. The goods: Good to have a gym and free weight. Street parking pretty good to find on weekdays. Love the size and temperature of the big sauna room but not sure why the floor isn't even and the straw mat need to be changed. read more

I used to be very excited to come here but then the last two times that I came here everything changed. They were way too many kids and loud people and also got way more dirty than before. It seems like is not a spa to rest anymore, but instead it became some sort of park or something. I decided so gave it up and would not come here anymore. read more

Came there about 930pm...3rd floor was already closed which sucked but at least front desk told us this beforehand. The facilities looked really clean.... naked area was weird.. Only eye contact with the guys lol... was very quiet when I was there... I can imagine kids really ruining the time.. should be an age restriction because quiet is what really makes this place good... not everyone will like it and I think you should experience it at least once to see if it's for you... You could stay there the entire day... Doesn't get better than that... read more

I can't believe it either but Spa Castle isn't good anymore. I feel like they were GREAT when I started going years ago and as it became more popular they just stopped caring. Not clean anymore- women's event baths use to have beautiful herbs in them and now they put day glo green chemicals that are suppose to be "scented". Day glo water? No thanks! It just got really trashy....so sad. read more

Have no idea what the hype is all about. We ordered 90 min deep tissue massage... What a mistake. Fred doesn't know what massage is, leave alone what deep tissue is all about. Everything closed at 10:30 even though it supposed to be opened till 12:00 am. The only area worth mentioning is an open pool where half of the underwater jets don't work. One and out for me. read more

Hello Alex,…

i love this place. The entrance is a little pricey ($40 for weekdays and $50 for weekends) but they have groupons $30 for weekends! Also get there early, the last time I went, there was a line out the door with a 40 min wait just to get in. But you couldn't tell once you got inside. It's so big, it doesnt feel packed at all. I also recommend eating before you go because the food and drinks are really pricey for the quality. I do recommend the spa treatments, ive had body scrubs and massages here. My favorite are the saunas and the body pools. Warning, there's no changing rooms so nudity is normal and the body pools inside the locker rooms don't allow any clothing. read more

I think that best comment one can make is that it was what they advertised (on the website). I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a "spa guy." So why did I go? The day at the spa was a present from a family member and a bunch of us went. The place was extremely clean--without that, who would want to go. The facilities were excellent--exactly what you see on the website--actually, better--their pictures don't do a good enough job of promoting the place. The saunas were great--quiet and relaxing, even if people were speaking, which is no crime. And the baths/jacuzzis (aka "bade pools") were great too--very powerful jets, not those wishy-washy ones that you can hardly feel. Some of these are "knock you over" powerful. My family (not me--I'm not a spa guy) got massages and facials, and everyone liked them. The food was good--most of it reasonably priced, but some is crazily priced. Burger for $10--a little high but not to crazy, and there were meals for around $12 and a nice salad bar (at $12 per pound). On the crazy side--$17 for a mixed drink in Queens is a bit pricey--you're already paying for the atmosphere; and $11 for yogurt seemed high (even if they give you enough for three people), but $4 for ice cream seemed okay. Just some odd pricing on the food. Anyway, it was a great place. I'd definitely go back, and I'm not a spa guy. read more

Definitely a good place to pamper yourself! i've been to many other spas this place is among Top of the list. Excellent swedish massage.. Saunas(5 differnt types to choose from).. Jacuzzis everywhere you turn.. relaxing areas to lounge. i had no problem going bare foot, locker rooms and entire place is clean thru-out. Only reason i didnt give 5-stars, drinks at the bar WAY over-priced ($12 for jack & coke, $3 cup of seltzer water) other than that it deserves all the accolades.. i will be returning . read more

This place is what you make of it. I went with friends who were expecting a high-end spa, which is not what it is. If that is what you are looking for I wouldn't recommend it. If you want to spend a day at the pool then this is definitely for you. If you don't want to spend extra money besides the admission fee then you are basically going for the pools. The outside pool reminded me of the baths I've been to in Europe. The outdoor pool is open in the winter. It's heated and it is totally worth the quick run through the cold air to be in a rooftop heated pool. The indoor pools were warm, although not particularly hot. We enjoyed sitting at the pool bar, which is actually inside one of the pools. The drink prices are outrageous but you can put all your expenses on a waterproof watch they give you when you come in. This also serves as a your locker key so you don't have to carry anything around all day. There are a lot of rules and procedures at this place. As a first time visitor it definitely takes a bit of getting used to and it is easy to break the rules especially on a crowded day when no one really has time to explain them to you. We went this week, during the holidays, and it was very crowded with families and kids. We waited in a long line to get in and then we were shuffled off to a locker room without much info. Be warned, the staff will yell at you if you unknowingly break their many rules. I literally got dragged out of the shower because I had my bathing suit on and was trying to rinse off before leaving. I hadn't spent any time in the nude area but just assumed the showers (which are at the entrance to that area) were open to anyone since those were the only showers in the building. The majority of the people at the showers wore bathing suits so I followed the lead of the others who were there before me. I was quite surprised when some lady literally grabbed me and dragged me out! There are nicer ways to ask a person to leave and I would have happily accommodated had I known. Likewise, when we first walked into the locker room and were being directed to get our "uniforms" we got yelled at for still having our shoes on. We had assumed that our shoes could be taken off when we got to our locker but this was clearly not the case. Maybe on a less crowded day this info would all be communicated properly but I didn't really appreciate the way we were being informed of these rules. While I really liked the pools and the $3 massage chairs I can't say I found this place relaxing. I didn't care for the rules and uniforms nor the general attitude of some the staff. If you're going for a day at the pool then I think this place is great. However, if you're looking for relaxation I think there are better alternatives. read more

Every staff member in this establishment was completely rude. from the moment we walked in the manager demanded that my bag and my relatives bags check twice. I had to indicate to her that the security was doing his job leave him alone he checked my bag. Later we saw what we thought was a security officer who checked our bags being a lifeguard. Not sure of their mixed roles here. While we were there staff was extremely rude there was a girl hanging out with the bartender who clearly work there and ignored customers though she was behind the counter. the shower staff barely knew English and continued to yell at people then entire time we were in the locker Room. Upon leaving in checking how I had an elderly relative and someone with a child sitting waiting for us to check out. Once we checked out the tall Asian guy checking us out made motion to them to shoo shoo shoo go. This was extremely rude considering we spent hundreds of dollars there this day. We were not the only ones that felt this way several other people spoke about the rude staff. Even in the food area they were not polite and were perceived to be annoyed while we decided what to order. While I sat by the entrance and waited for my relatives to get dressed so that we can leave I observed staff members being unprofessional mocking other patrons of the facility and having inappropriate conversations among each other that clearly other people could hear. This place already has a badd rap and I believe the staff members they are hiring are making the reputation worse. read more

We had a group of 4 who all got spa services. 3 of us had a good massage. 1 was terrible. The staff is so VERY rude!!! They won't allow you to speak with management or give you the name of the manager. Be very careful when you get lunch. They go by weight and the salad was $24.00!! We all enjoyed the steam rooms but honestly the attitude of the staff makes us never want to go back!!! If you don't like your service you are to get up and walk out in the middle. This is what the rude girl at the front desk told me. read more

After my first visit to Spa Castle in 2013, I never thought I'd come near a mile radius of the place again. I was put off by gross reviews, nacho chips floating in the water, and kids running around all over the place. But this review isn't about that visit. My friend somehow managed to rope me back here as it was a new discovery to her. By rope I mean free passes and begging. I agreed under the condition that I refused to get into any of the unisex hot tubs, which left not much else to do except the saunas and locker room. I loved the saunas in 2013, especially the Himalayan salt sauna, and turns out I still loved them in 2017. Though, the color therapy is still as gimmicky as it was then and the ice room looks a bit run down now -stains on melting ice? I actually tried some spicy squid and white rice up on the Sky Garden this time and it surpassed my expectations... for Spa Castle anyway. It was a trip full of things I'd never tried. Including the sleeping-room that had bouts of noisiness as people came in, and the nude area in the locker room. There's little shame to be had in the nude area and turns out there's a steam room in there, a new favorite. But what visit to Spa Castle would be incomplete without my rented towel being stolen. It blows my mind that anyone could give five stars; in 2013 I would've gave it two but now I would say it's no more than a solid three. Word of advice, bring your own recognizable towel. read more

Depending what you're looking for, Spa Castle is good and not so good. Positives: - Cool, different thing to do a little outside of the city. They have a few different kinds of sauna rooms, including a "cold" room (not super cold), a fun pool, and some rest areas, massages (pay extra), fitness center, etc - Neat system where you wear a watch that opens and locks your lockers, and also lets you pay for things in the dining area without having to have your credit card on you (you get charged at the end when you get out, the watch thing keeps a tab) - Food is pretty good, a bunch of different options - If you have kids, could be a fun alternative for a half day trip - Nice to have some different sauna options and good if you want a detox kind of day, can easily lie down in many of the rooms Negatives: - Lots of kids running around everywhere, and even the adults are pretty loud.. the sauna rooms aren't really relaxing because people keep coming in and out and talking and taking pics on their phones, etc. The doors also almost all creak making the coming and going more noticeable - The sleeping and resting areas are also overrun with loud kids and adults - The only free water dispensers have these tiny paper cups that hold about one sip of water, which is annoying and time consuming to hydrate yourself after sweating in a sauna. You can bring your own water bottle though, and others are available for purchase, but the system they have just seems cheap - Even though I liked the food in the buffet area, the tables and chairs were oddly set up.. the table too low and/or the chairs too high, so it was uncomfortable to sit and eat, you basically had to have your food on your lap or sit on the floor - The pool was cool with lots of different jets and fun things, but half the time the buttons to start the jets didn't work I'd say check it out for a day, but don't expect a luxurious spa experience. Go into it just looking to try something different and unique in the nyc area. read more

Very disappointed. This place is not what it used to be. I was here a few years ago and I returned last night. I will never go back. Go to Sojo spa in NJ instead. The place was filthy. Water everywhere. I slid twice. You have to pay to rent a towel. Lol. Isn't that part of using a spa filled with pools? I didn't pay the last time I was here for a towel. It seems they try to make a quick buck everywhere they can. That's what an admission fee is for. Not a single, clean refreshing pool anywhere. The only one that wasn't filthy and overcrowded with people on top of one another was In the locker room. I was so happy when I finally found it. But was told I couldn't go in with my bathing suit. I had to be naked! Isn't that my Decision?! Kids running around everywhere. Isn't it supposed to be a relaxing spa? It seems it turned into a pool club now and it's no longer a spa. Waited on line for 20 minutes to get a drink and the line never moved. I gave up. The outdoor pools were overcrowded and filthy. The water was cloudy. It was disgusting. People on top of one another. Bottom line don't come here if you're looking for a relaxing experience. It's very hectic and overcrowded. The only good thing that came out of this was that I was refunded immediately. I nicely explained to the manager and he didn't ask any questions. He checked to see how long I was there and he refunded me. I guess this happens often. I spent a total of 30 minutes and ran out of there. Fifteen minutes I spent trying to get a drink. And the other fifteen minutes I tried to find a clean pool to relax in. It's a shame this place lowered their standards. I used to enjoy it years ago. read more

This is definitely worth a day trip to see. I've long been a fan of Japanese style onsens (geothermally heated bath houses) or sento bath houses (same basic idea, but heat is supplied by boilers)... which are rather hard to find anywhere on the East Coast (there are spas and hot springs on the West Coast and in the Rocky Mountain states, but those are much more Western in their outlook, especially the swimsuit requirement. InSpa World (or NY Spa Castle as it is currently called) is about as close as one gets to the Japanese experience, plus or minus a few features: Japanese bath houses typically have a food venue ranging from a ice cream freezer and a beer vending machine to a full service restaurant with plenty of beer on tap; the Spa Castle has a central food court smack in the middle of the complex which can get rather congested, and NO beer... an almost cardinal offense to a sauna scorched palate! Spa Castle does add the numerous themed dry and aromatic saunas to the mix, which is not typical of the Japanese experience, as well as the various hydrojet pools on the third floor. For the new visitor, one thing to get used to is the "rules" (which in Spa Castle's case, are rather clearly posted in various places - particularly the locker rooms). 1 - Taking off the shoes, sandals, or other footgear upon entering the locker room area (you secure them in a specially designated locker keyed to a wristband you get, which also functions as a tab chit for tracking all those expensive yummies and drinks you may want to buy, as well as any massages or body scrubs, etc.) 2 - Strip down to your birthday suite (get nekkid) and shower up with a good, obvious scrub. Razors and shaving cream are available along with toothbrushes and complimentary toothpaste, so no need to for gruesome grizzly stubble or the dragon breath... unless of course, you are growing a beard. But still no pass for the dragon breath. Now I've no idea about the feminine amenities over on their side, nor do I have any intention of finding out for myself. But If you are a lady in need of shaving your beard, you've probably got some bigger worries than what sort of freebies are at a Korean bath house in Queens. 3 - Getting used to getting nekkid (naked) to use the sex-segregated hot tubs. When I went there was only one guy wearing something like bike shorts, and it turns out he was one of the help, soliciting folks for massages. Otherwise, it is a free-for-all of nekkidness, which as user "Allen Y." remarked below, is quite a bit of dick (or vag) to be seen (or to pretend to avert one's eyes from whilst probably being altogether too obvious glancing at various naughty bits)... although I dare say that there was likely more than just this boy's gaydar pinging in the men's sauna. Fortunately, there was nothing of the sort of behaviour seen in "bathhouses of ill-repute" here, to say nothing of it being quite against the rules. Oh, and should you of easily tempted natures feel that your naughty bits are of an urge to go from the "I'm really trying not to notice anything" to "I'm really rather interested, actually!", the very quick fix is to stop chatting up Mr. Chiselled Pecs, and head straight for the "Chilled Water" bath, where said water will provide both cover and instant shrinkage. Not that I had encountered this mind you, but I will testify that the Chilled Water Bath is not for the faint of heart, at a brisk 57F. There is also a pair of saunas in the bathing area, a dry one at a blistering 190F and a slighlty less so steam sauna at 140F. Do put the undersized towels under your bottom before planting cheeks on the seat; "keep your naughty bits to yourself", as the old saying goes. Upon exiting the saunas, two rather large signs command you to shower before jumping in the tub. And rather conveniently, there is a big showerhead directly between the doors to the saunas, which releases a chilling dose of shrinkage (see also item 3 above) and washes away and sweaty nastiness from your person. The rest is pretty self-explanatory, with various hydrojets and waterfalls activated by hand-sensor button thingies which can be a bit dodgy, needing multiple presses to get the desired action. I wouldn't suggest smashing a non-compliant button though, as they appear to have much give to them. Upon finishing up in the bathing area, dry off with the micro-towel and toss it in the bin near the door. Grab yourself a "uniform" (the somewhat ill-fitting T-shirt and shorts) from the cubby - I recommend going a size larger than what you ordinarily wear, unless you happen to be Michael J. Fox size) and change it if you want to go upstairs to sample the themed saunas and food, and grab your swim trunks and the towel you've brought with you if you plan to "swim" in the upstairs pools, as the help may fuss at you if you go upstairs nekkidly, as well as slogging about in a soggy swimsuit. Beyond that, it is quite enjoyable, and worth the $45 admission. read more

The facility itself is nice but a little chaotic with kids running around. It would be great if there was a family floor or room for them. The customer service left much to be desired, they're slightly rude & not very helpful. I think their prices for massages, mani/pedis, body scrubs, etc. are a little steep but if you just want to enjoy some saunas, whirlpools & what not than it serves its purpose. I still gave them 3 *s since as I stated before, the facility is ok. read more

I am a big fan of Spa Castle. I have been there several times. The facility is very clean and offers a wide variety of different types of saunas, spa's, relaxation rooms, etc., which are all included in the entrance price. Spa services are additional. The only negative issue i have with this place is walking around barefoot. I wish they offered slippers that you can wear while walking around. Other then that, this is a great place to spend a few hours, and feel like you are on vacation while only traveling 20 minutes from NYC. read more

If You Survive the Rude Staff at Reception, You'll NEED to Relax, but You'll Love This Place... It sucks that I had to give this place only 3 stars, but it is SOLELY due to the lack of customer care at the reception desk. Managers, please take note. I went yesterday with my boyfriend. For my first time here, it was an overwhelming experience to walk in the door, be asked if we want a day pass, then be thrown two watch-like things that are different colors and not be told what they are for or who wears which watch. (Turns out, they are the electronic keys for opening your shoe locker and your large locker.) When we tell the receptionist that this is our first time here, she doesn't care. She has already said "Next" to the people behind us. She curtly directs us to our respective locker rooms and tells us someone else will help us once we go in. NOT TRUE. I walked in and wandered around, only to discover that my key was actually for the men's locker room. Another receptionist comes in with the correct key for me and I exchange it and treats me like I'm stupid. I told her that it would have helped if they would have simply asked us "HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO SPA CASTLE BEFORE?" when we walked in the door...Such a simple thing to do and would have taken her only 30 more seconds to explain. Apparently, she was rude to my boyfriend when he had discovered he had the wrong key and when he asked her if she could go in after me, she just said, "She'll figure it out." Nice... By now, I need a freakin' massage... I find my locker, but I'm not quite sure how to use it, so a sweet woman from the CLEANING STAFF comes to help me through the process. She tells me where to get the uniform and everything else I need and how to go up to the cafe/sauna/unisex area. Once my boyfriend and I sit for a second and enjoy the food and CALM DOWN from our respective horrible reception/locker room experiences, we actually take a look around and I must say...Despite the HORRIBLE reception, the facilities are TOP NOTCH. If you are looking for a spa retreat, it's NOT that. It is more like a family friendly, though more slanted toward adults, playground...I especially loved the pools and the saunas. My boyfriend and I decide to get a drink at one of the pools. It was a pretty neat thing to be able to get a drink and sit in a giant jacuzzi with little ledges to set your drinks on... GUESS WHAT? Reception didn't mention that you NEED TO PRESENT YOUR ID AT CHECK-IN SO YOU CAN GET A BAND FOR DRINKING ON THE PREMISES. We ask the bartender if he gets the brunt of people's frustration because reception is so incompetent and he says it happens more than he would care to admit. By the way, the bartenders are awesome and should not have to deal with the incompetence of the reception area. We go back down to reception with our ID's (in our bare feet, mind you...) and they issue us a wrist band. We return to the bar and we get pistachio coladas. THEY ARE AWESOME AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! The rest of the day we spent playing in the pools (both the inside and outside pools were refreshing), going to the saunas (the Jade Sauna was my favorite), and we both got foot massages, which were pretty great, though I would have loved to have calming music playing or something. All I could hear was the staff talking to each other. SO, Long story short...I will come back again, but reception really soured what could have been an all-around amazing experience. There needs to be some serious staff training. If you don't want to work with people, then don't become a receptionist. (And I think the worst offenders are the ones who have worked there longest.) read more

This place deserves a 5 because of the amenities but due to the lack of respect and quality (or lack there of) of customer service the staff provides, I regretfully force at best, a 3. I've been here 8 times and if you get a smile at the desk by the associates, you're lucky. If you get a hello, you're blessed and god forbid you get instructions (is this your first time here? Here's how it everything goes down..) then congratulations, you hit the jack pot. When you walk in to the locker room, there's a line on the floor that separates the area so you don't walk past that with your shoes on. But if you do, make sure you prepare for a scolding. You will literally be yelled at by the locker attendant or spoken to like a child. A very bad and incompetent child. I also think there should be some sort of supervision/life guard type person by the pools so that the obese children who dive and belly flop around doesn't ruin the relaxation of the adult patrons because sometimes, it gets a bit wild up there. Domestic beer, $10, wtf? Staff, please...if you read this message, smile, be enthusiastic and care about each and every person who walks in that door. Because you never know who they are. If they come in with a groupon, don't give them the cold shoulder. It's obviously their first time so tell them how stuff works so that they're excited about spending money and they will come back. If you're not happy working there, leave. There are many people in the world who are dying for a job and will treat those customers with the respect they deserve, especially considering how expensive everything costs. Heck, even if everything was free, that's no excuse to be so rude. If it was me, I would fire EVERYONE and re-staff the entire place. I could understand if someone (1 person) has a bad day (1 time) but I've come here 8 times and never seen the same person twice so that tells me that the management down right doesn't give a crap about staff energy, enthusiasm and etiquette. Otherwise, place is clean and the saunas are great. read more

How much Is on Fridays?
Hi Susy, Admission to Spa Castle is $110 for adults and $65 for guests 17 and under from Friday…
Are the rates cheaper during winter time?
No, the only times u can get a cheaper price for entrance is if u catch a sale, through them or Groupon.
Does anyone know the name of the soap and shampoo products they use?
Best day/night to avoid families with kids?
Unfortunately you can't really avoid kids at Spa Castle anymore. They need to implement a "no kids" policy OR a day where no kids are allowed.
Do they have man masseuses?
They do, but I believe they use females for women massages, and males for men massages.
Has anyone been there since the reopening? Any advise? Recommend?
Yes we have. We have been denied entry twice for various "spontaneous policy changes". They are very discriminatory. I wouldn't recommend it.
Do you have to be 18 or older to go on your own?
Yes you have to be over 18 and provide identification,

How much is it to rent slippers? Can you buy them and reuse them when you come to the facility again?
You can purchase them for 6.99 or 9.99 and use again when you come back to the facility but no more rental items due to Covid .
Can both male and female be nude together in the spa?
No. Locker room pools are the only area where nudity is allowed/required, and they are same gender.
When is the best day/Time to go for least crowd? When is the worst time to go?
When it first opens...period. otherwise it's a zoo...
What is the youngest age allowed to come into spa and go in saunas? Can a 15yr child come with adult?
Any age it does not matter children adults any age
I want to go on my day off but it's going to rain will the outside be close?
Not at all I went it the cold winter the water is hot outside so even if rains it feels so nice and warm you ll love it it'does not matter if rains or not you will not get cold.
I would like to book a massage. Is there an option where I can choose my Masseuse?
I'm not sure. We weren't given the option, but I recommend you call and try to communicate instead of booking via computer or using your phone.
Are all the pools heated? I really want a colder pool
They’ve not heated. Regular pools with jets. The hot tub is the only one that’s temperature controlled. Have fun!
The queens location , handicap accessible ? Elevator on site ? Thanks
I have never seen one, nor seen anyone who seemed like they could use one. I would call however, perhaps there is a service elevator of some sort that I just never noticed.
Do they charge you at the door when you have a groupon?
There is small tax fee I think. Less than 2 dollars but you pay for everything at the end. They will check your groupon when you enter however.

It's been a while since I visited Spa Castle so with a Groupon I decided to pay a visit to the "New" Spa Castle. The first thing I noticed about the "new" Spa Castle is the bright lighting in the entrance lobby. It's stark and unpleasant, definitely not what one would expect when they visit a Spa. Once I entered the locker room area, I quickly realized that there weren't too many changes. On a good note, the shoe lockers and the clothing lockers are all brand new. The shoe lockers are larger now and can actually accommodate my size 16 shoe. The front desk attendant gave me a robe, slippers, large towel and small towel and told me my credit card would be charged $35 that would be refunded in full when I returned them. Like the lobby, the locker room is ridiculously bright. I quickly put my clothes in the . On to the "gender segregated "Wet Area". This is where things started going downhill fast. First of all, it is now "clothing optional" so people wear their spandex and nylon bathing trunks without even showering in the same water that is intended as a communal bath as in traditional Jjimjilbangs. Spa Castle should be ashamed of itself for allowing this, and anyone who is aware of an follows traditional Jimilbang etiquette likely will never return. For an expensive Spa Renovation, this looked like a quick "Bathfitter" redo. The same tubs were there, but cleaned up. The steam room was remodeled a bit, but it still was the same. Some of the jets wouldn't turn off (the ones in the cold massage pool) and some wouldn't turn on (the belly massage). The temperatures of the tubs were ridiculous with most in the 90's. These are hydrotherapy baths not heated pools after all and WAY too cool. Bright unpleasant lighting has been added to the wet area including the sauna and steam room. It is definitely NOT relaxing at all. Surprisingly the two shower areas that are off to the side are dark. Their shower head and controls were remodeled but if you look up you'll see the same rusted old lighting fixtures with rusted water in them. The hall monitors come in to check on "inappropriate activity" every 5 minutes but the "inappropriate activity" takes place during the other 4 minutes. On to the second floor. Gone is the Loess Sauna, the large "barn" with dim lighting, pleasant music and a 180 degree temperature. In it's place is the new Salt Sauna. It's actually far smaller than the Loess sauna was but the mirrored ceiling and bright lighting make it feel much larger. Unfortunately, it's a tepid 130 degrees and the ultra bright lighting and mirrors make for less than a relaxing visit. The new design causes a tornado of cool air to rush in each time the door is opened. Also, there is a persistent fan rattle that is annoying. The ice room was also remodeled but it looks unpleasant now and at 59 degrees is too warm. The Infrared Sauna remains dark and was fairly pleasant. On the third floor the outdoor pools are similar to what they used to be but the temperatures are now around 90 instead of 110. These are hydrotherapy pools, not heated swimming pools and they need to be MUCH hotter. Spa Castle's best feature for years was the Hinnoki Sauna, a wooden sauna Jacuzzi with water that was kept around 111 degrees. The sauna was changed months ago to no longer be wooden, but now, not only isn't it wooden, but it's in a Gazebo instead of exposed to the sky. The dry sauna between the pools was a ridiculous 79 degrees. On the plus side, the staff was actually more pleasant than many I encountered in the past but wasn't in the same league as Jamie, a previous attendant in the mens' locker room who was always one of the most helpful over the years. But, on the whole, Spa Castle's redo is actually several steps DOWN rather than a move up. The lighting is way too intense for a relaxing spa, a mirrored ceiling in a sauna is just plain insane, and clothing optional is ridiculous. They do provide water coolers again so you can fill your water bottle. You get a robe (the waiting for an MRI type, not the thick terry type) but no place to put it as you navigate the Castle and no exchanges. Also, one big and one small towel with no exchanges. people probably forget where they put it. The biggest issue is the price. $85 M-Th and $115 F-Sun. There is NO WAY that those admission fees are worth it for this bathfitter redo. For a few dollars more, you can enjoy the pampering of the world renowned Spa in Edgewater NJ. For about 1/3 of the price you can enjoy a basic Jimjibang in Flushing with a high Yelp rating. That place charges the same admission fee 365 days a year but admittedly doesn't have outdoor pools. I have no idea who the consultant was for Spa Castle's "re do" but they obviously never visited a spa and have no idea what a spa experience is supposed to be. There is no way that this place is going to survive with the current price structure. It's just not worth it, even with a Groupon. read more

DISCLAIMER: Foul language is in abundance for this update Damn, Damn, Damn. Like I mentioned before, I was being generous giving this place a 4 out of 5. After visiting a few times, I had to render my final judgement for this score and I'll get into detail for why I give it this rating BUT I also want to touch on some pros before I shit all over this establishment. Don't get me wrong, I do LIKE this place a lot and the saunas, hot tubs, jet streams and all will make you feel like a new person. The saunas vary in temperature, feel different and will certainly detox you. The hot tubs and bubbly jet streams are nice but can be better. The place looks nice, feels nice and relaxing and CAN be a great place to relax. Now on to whats made me lower the score. After my most recent visits, I've seen a decline at Spa Castle and an incline on a disgusting, hideous demographic. As the G.R.A or Ghetto Ratchet Army (as I like to call them and of ANY and ALL races for the sensitive and politically correct) become more informed of this place, the more Spa Castle seems to be flooded with ratchet, ghetto, behemoth clientele who don't know how to act. Spa Castle used to be a decent place to have a small "get away" from the city and such untamed animals but now when I go to Spa Castle I feel as if I'm in an aquarium, sharing the waters with wild beluga whales, fat violent killer whales or I'm in the Bronx Zoo in a cage with wild gorillas, apes, tigers, lions and bears (oh my). This place has gone downhill with its demographic and for me, its a big turn off. As the weather gets hotter, its gets worse. For the GRA this is the closest they'll come to an oasis and paradise and they obviously don't believe in relaxation, tranquility and peace. They want to be loud, obnoxious, get drunk, and try to "holla at the shawties" and the dumb ghetto bitches come here thinking they're hot shit when they come together with their gurls. Besides the GRA; FUCK THE KIDS. This place isn't for fucking kids. Fuck the kiddie pool and turn that into a bigger jacuzzi or something. Why bring kids here? 95% of them don't go into the sauna and for the amount of money spent on bringing kids here you can take them to a water park or something. Seriously, kids don't belong here, fuck them. They're too loud, annoying, obnoxious, dirty and fuck everything up. Other complaints: -While this place is clean they can do some work. There's paint chips falling off certain areas, people leave their drinks and food all over the place, the sanitation has simply downgraded a little bit. -It went from 35 to 40 on weekdays and 50 for weekends. NOT a big deal and I think its fair for what you get but this place is falling off with its services. -Drinks are too damn expensive, in cheap, flimsy plastic cups, limited variety and they suck. Don't waste your money. -I think the food is good but TOO damn expensive. 12 dollars for a burger? No thanks. Save your money and eat at Flushing or bring your own stuff. -Unless you want to enlist with the GRA, DO NOT come during the summer and warmer, hotter weather. Pretend Spa Castle doesn't exist during that time. -A lot of things aren't working like they were. A lot of the water pumps and jet streams haven't been fixed since I've been going. This place is a 4 out of 5 IF: -You come during the cold weather (fall and winter) and its actually better to come during that time anyway, trust me. -Come before 11am-12PM or after 7PM (during the hot weather) Other stuff: -The pool is stupid. Come here if you really want to utilize everything else. I'd rather go to a water park or a free NYC pool if I want to be in 3 feet all around. I enjoy this place, the saunas, hot tubs and amenities and when its not infiltrated by the GRA, it can be a very nice experience and relaxing place. I love acting a fool but unlike the GRA, I understand there's a time and place for everything and during the summer you can forgot about having any real quiet time. Again, I want to reiterate that I want to keep this place a 4 since its in my borough of Queens but I guess its something like this: 2 during the summer, 4 during the cold months. Come during the cold months, since the whole point is to be hot when its cold anyway. If you want to get a tan, be next to a pool and all that summer stuff you can easily find better options, and for FREE. Don't spend 40 or 50 to be trashed by trash. read more

Well, it's been over a year since I visited Spa Castle. So, how is it now? I arrived on Friday late afternoon. No line for check in. The check in crew was unusually polite and cordial so I had high expectations. I paid the full $52.00 admission fee including tax and asked for them to check my COVID vaccination card as is required but they waved it off as not being necessary. No baggage check, no metal detector wanding. I entered a glum looking lockeroom and was delighted to see Jamie as the attendant. Jamie has been there through thick and thin at Spa Castle, and is always helpful to guests so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I got to my locker which obviously had just been used by a previous guest who had just left. I have yet to see Spa Castle actually sanitize lockers between guests. It's not the fault of the lockeroom attendants, either, because they have no way of knowing which lockers are assigned and which are being are-assigned to new guests. I already knew that Spa Castle was providing NO ammenities. That means NO towels, NO Uniform, NO robe, No Soap, No Shampoo, No Hair Dryer, No hairspray, No combs or brushes, No Toothbrush or Toothpaste, NO Razors, NO Shaving Cream. I decided to put my swimtrunks on and visit the outdoor pools. The two outdoor pools (sit down and standing) were both comfortably warm. The jets were either inoperative or operating non-stop. Wires were exposed in several of the jet controls. Since there were only about 6 other guests at the time, it was easy to find an operative jet throughout. Speaking of the guests: I was surprised at how the guests were practicing "spa etiquette". There was a family with two young children, a teenage girl with 6 of her younger female siblings or friends, and a young professional couple all acting respectful. The outdoor sauna was at 111 degrees, worth a visit to dry off before returning to the building. When the scantily clad "model" arrived in a skin color bikkini with her professional photographer, I decided it was time to leave. Sauna valley had issues. Iceland was at 72 degrees and most of the other saunas were tepid aside from the Loess which was 168, unusually low for it, and Jade which was also at 168. The Men's area, was a mess. The "Hot Pool" was at 99. One of the other jacuzzi pools was only half filled with water and was 89. The "Kiddie Jacuzzi" was at 80. Another Jacuzzi was at 101 but someone apparently put bubble bath (at least I HOPE it was bubble bath) in it and bubbles were flowing everywhere! Gay men were "prancing by" for lack of a better word, frustrated by a lack of a crowd for "steam room sex" although the steam room seemed active anyway. Fortunately, there were no families with young children in the "nude area" today. Water coolers and Water fountains were inoperative allegedly due to COVID. Other Spas in Flushing check COVID vaccination status before entering. They also provide uniforms, towels, toiletries, hair dryers, and water fountains or dispensers to fill water bottles. Spa Castle charges $2.50 for a bottle of Dasani water. It's sad to see how much Spa Castle has deteriorated since its glory days 10 years ago. It might have been able to survive during this past summer due to the popularity of their outdoor pools during warmer weather. Depsite the fact that the pools are comfortably heated even during the coldest winter days, few people have taken advantage of that in past years, and I don't think that Spa Castle is going to survive solely off the "gay steamroom crowd". Sadly, this place needs a major revamping that I doubt if it is going to get. Spa Castle sadly feels like it's in its last days. read more

I have been coming to this location for over 4 years (making at least one visit every 3 months). Spa Castle College Point provided my first Korean-Spa experience, and I can safely say I have fallen in love with the place and the tradition that it represents. I've tried other Korean Spa's (like King Spa), and they paled in comparison. The facility is spotlessly clean, the staff are courteous and ready to assist you with whatever needs or inquiries you might have. I have read a lot on this Yelp feed about the staff here being rude and / or unhelpful. In not one of my 16+ visits over the years have I found this to be true. The experience and facility can be confusing on your first visit, but don't be afraid to ask lots of question prior to or during your visit, and I think you will find that staff members are enthusiastic and glad to help. The range of saunas they have make for a full days-worth of relaxation; the hydrotherapy pools work wonders for muscle tension and stress; and the Spa Services are second to none. I've had both the Swedish and the Deep Tissue massage here and both were incredible and left me feeling limber and refreshed for days. The Estheticians, in particular, are INCREDIBLE. I have read some complaints about the price range for services being a little high, but I strongly disagree. I have had several of the facials here, and they have been far, far better than comparable treatments I've had at even pricier Manhattan day spas. I recommend the Aromatic Organic Peel for anyone who is interested in skin-care maintenance. The Traditional Korean Body Scrubs are off-the-charts! I never even knew it was possible to get skin this soft! (Plus the prices for the scrubs are really reasonable: $50 for a transformative 30 min treatment? Sold!) The Aqua bar is the perfect place to chill and enjoy a drink in a heated pool, the Korean restaurant is fantastic, and the outdoor pools are heated and open year-round (which reminds me of Spa's in Europe, where the contrast between hot and cold temperatures provides for maximum refreshment and leaves one feeling invigorated). The bottom line: when I leave Spa Castle, College Point I feel refreshed, energized, and basically brand new! A big thumbs up for my favorite Spa in NYC: definitely worth the trip! read more

First things first.. I came today with a living social voucher so this isn't about the money at all because my entrance was paid for months ago. But I want to say I think it's greedy that spa castle is charging customers the full price when TWO areas were completely closed down including the kiddie pool (which means all the kids were jumping and DIVING into the regular pools) , and because of that the other areas are more crowded. Half the Jets/Buttons in the outdoor pools aren't working. People shouldn't be paying for services that are not being provided. Also the food used to be so good at spa castle, now the menu is much shorter. I ordered a spaghetti and meatball dish which used to be great but now it was gross. I would have preferred the canned version. The drinks have become disgustingly overpriced. Almost $20 for a Miami vice when the line is ridiculous just to order the drink and the slow service to get it? So many people are crowded into that one small area just waiting for long periods of time. That's insane. I also would suggest that there should be a time limit on the three drinks policy. I understand that you're trying to control people getting out of control.. But someone who paid to be there all day, that got there at around 12 pm and stays until close, should be able to get more than 3 drinks especially because the overpriced drinks are watered down and pretty small... Maybe you should have to wait a an hour or two after the first three drinks before purchasing another? Just an idea. I liked that there was a lifeguard now walking around being vigilant from time to time because security has always been a problem at spa castle (I've been coming here for years) and I love the addition of the meditation room that was very nice. Soooo nice. I had an amazing time today because I had great company and I got my first body scrub - the ladies who do the body scrubs are great! They did an amazing job! But there is still a lot of room for improvement. And a LOT of things that need to be fixed. Ps- I forgot I wrote a review 10 months ago... Still haven't fixed the issue with the Jets not working.. No good. I still love spa castle, I'm still a loyal customer, just a customer praying for improvements to be made lol. read more

The first time I came to this place, I really liked it. Reading the reviews, you can see two types of people who come here: those who don't know how to follow the most basic rules of common space and those who are angry by the lack of enforcement of those rules. Truth be told, there's a lot of ghetto people going there who think it's a public pool. Except they get away with crap that they could not at a public pool. People complaining about the uniforms: guess what? It's a Korean spa. That's how they roll there. Also, the uniform helps to absorb your disgusting sweat so it's not left on every mat, seat and chair of the spa. Who would've thought, huh? I'm still stumped that they had to put a sign that says "do not dye your hair here." What kind of garbage person do you have to be to do that at a spa? Do you think it's your personal bathroom? People taking pictures in the nude area: are you a devolved imbecile? If you can't deal with seeing other people of your own sex naked without commenting on every different body or giggling like you're an eighth grader, perhaps don't come here. Come back when you grow up. People wearing bathing suits in the nude area. Do you not know how to read? You have like seven pools where you can wear your bathing suit, why are you wearing it at the place where it explicitly tells you not to? People with unruly children...what to say. Can you please stop reproducing yourselves? Or at least finish raising yourself before you decide to bring another human to this world? Can you teach your children basic respect for other human beings? You know it's not just you and your family who inhabit this land, right? In all honesty, I can almost understand why the staff treats all of us like garbage. It's because so many people behave like garbage and all of us have to pay for a bunch of uneducated, horny, loud, obnoxious, vulgar, rude, dirty troglodytes. Reading the articles and some comments that talk about people having sex in the pools, or hordes of men masturbating each other in the steam room in the men's sections...what to say. S**t floats too, and sh**ty people seem to be floating on the waters of Castle Spa. read more
I was on a mission to find a spa similar to this one I went to in Japan that had pools with varying levels of heat and water pressure, and this is by far the best I have tried out on the east coast! The facilities are quite clean and very spacious. It's $40 to enter during the weekday and $50 during the weekend, and you are able to use the facilities as you please (massages and scrubs are added-on amenities). They give out watches with your locker number - these watches help lock the lockers and also can be used to pay for food/drinks/massages - pretty high tech stuff. The pool complex is very spacious with heated pools located both outdoors and indoors. The outdoor space is coed whereas the indoor pools are located in the changing rooms and are gender specific/nude. There is also a bar located at one of the outdoor pools and a separate kiddie pool for the youngsters. What I loved about this place was the indoor space - highly recommend if you can get past the nudity part. Most of the pools are higher in heat here (approx. 100-180°F) and 2 of the pools are for cooling down and are approx. 50-70°F. There is also a wet sauna and a dry sauna. Also, the indoor pools are much cleaner!! The food here is gross coming from an asian with expectations of how korean food should be. It is also very expensive. My family and I ordered food at the self-serve buffet for 3 people and it was $70 total - microwavable food might've even tasted better. Water is $2.50 per bottle. There is a free shuttle service between spa castle and Flushing. Specifically the car runs approx. every 30 minutes from Spa castle to the One hotel at Union St and Northern Blvd. The shuttle runs both ways - pretty sweet if you ask me. Advice: -Bring your own towels or its $2 to rent a beach/full sized towel (otherwise they have mini towels which are free to use) -Come during the weekday, its less crowded! Recommendations: I'd have to agree with some yelpers here - management if you are reading this, please have an adults only section so that kids are not constantly interrupting my zen-mode! read more

I had a nice visit at Spacastle on a Sunday during the early morning hours..We arrived very early 8:00 am as to not be surrounded by lots of people and kids.. We spent the day and also had massages.. I was at the Spa two years ago during a week day, also started early morning.. The difference between two years ago and now is big.. Cleanliness, quiet and relaxing atmosphere, less noisy and no running around unsupervised children was how it was two years ago. Staff was always seen cleaning floor areas which made the place shine and smell clean.. This time around it was clean, but not in all areas.. The first floor bathrooms smelled like urine and the third floor pool with the jets and seats had soapy water that gave me an itch and I had to get out..the suds were not white.. My friend convinced me to dip in it later in the day again and the itching got me out right away. Since we arrived early it was quiet until after noon, many people and children arrived. I like the idea of families spending time together at this place, but I mind when I'm spending lots of money to listen and watch screaming kids run around while I try to relax and their parents are blind and deaf to the disturbance they are causing.. Kids were jumping on the couches like trampolines and not only did the parents ignore the annoying behavior of their kids so did the staff... Two years ago staff smiled and were welcoming, now they look at you as if you are a nuisance to them. In all fairness not the masseuse ladies. They were very pleasant and professional.. It's a beautiful place that needs a change in couches now and more security on each floor, enforce NO PICTURE TAKING, yes that also was going on and demand that parents supervise their children even in the bathrooms.. I will go again very early on a week day and leave before the crowd arrives. I will try it one more time only because I live near, but if there is no improvement I know many other Spas that are also great to spend the day pampering myself as I deserve..Hope SpaCastle is reading all the reviews.. read more

I recently visited the facility for the first time, despite the numerous bad reviews on yelp. It's true this spa is not your typical Day spa, and yes its true they do allow children however it's not as overcrowded and dreadful as everyone made it sound. It's Like the Six flags of spas, you welcome to enjoy all of the amenities for as long as you would like after paying the admission fee. There is no time frame and you can enjoy the facility without feeling pressured to purchase spa treatments or someone dictating which order you should enjoy the facility. Its more than just paying for the spa treatments you enjoying so much more. Your enjoying the seven different types of heated dry saunas, indoor body jets pools, outdoor spa pools, and meditation room. At first I was surprised to receive a wristwatch that would act as my locker key and would apparently hold my tab. I placed all my belongings, shoes being separate from my clothes which makes sense( Who wants there outside sneaker s with their clothes)Afterwards you see this staff at the counter for a uniform which consisted of a tee shirt and shorts. The uniform are pretty comfortable and completely make sense( I mean who wants to sweat in their own clothes! ). After spending about 3 hours inside of the facility, enjoying the heated body jets and dry saunas and grabbing a bite to eat. I finally gave in to purchase a 1 hour foot and hand massage. I figured I deserved it after a long weeks of work, the best part the tax and tip are already included in the price so I didn't have to feel awkward calculating tip and worrying about running to my locker for my wallet. The foot massage guy who's name escapes at the time was absolutely AMAZING. When I left here I felt absolutely rejuvenated , and I couldn't believe this is in hidden in Queens. I didn't have to commute far and definitely need to visit at least once a month. If you looking a quick escape this would be the way to go =) read more

Once again I am writing a review for this place. Because i decided to give it another try this past weekend to see if they had improved anything. And not surprising this place is only getting worse. I found out that the reason for all the chaos and miserable employees is because the management is NOT the same anymore. I always loved coming in to check in with Crisely, and then talk to the manager for a while, which was Kevin. We would always talk about random things and his energy was welcoming. I've encountered the managers now, and there is an Arabic girl who I saw was talking in her language while laughing at a customers face. And there is an Asian guy who looks like a high school kid running around in sneakers and jeans, who just walks away whenever he sees a customer step in. I couldn't even take him seriously. My point is, how do you expect to run a place, when you have people like this, who are not engaging and are not even acknowledging frequent customer's presence. It just all seems so boring and it sucks that almost every time I come back, it's new faces and no one knows what they're doing. Simple inquiries take hours to be addressed by who ever is there. It's just stressful at this point, rather than relaxing. I really hope this place gets shut down, because there are so many violations in this place. And I'm actually surprised that after all the complaints, reviews and pictures attached, they STILL don't get closed. I definitely will not be coming back anymore, its about time I close this chapter and look for a new hangout place for my group of friends. Honestly people save your money, $50 or $60 for an admission where you have to test your luck with the water temperatures. Sometimes it'll be cold sometimes if you're lucky it will be warm. Is not the way I want to waste my hard earned money. read more

We've had a blast but the facility itself is full of hidden fees and the customer service is basically non existent. They give you a tiny hand towel and expect it to be enough to dry your full body and hair. If you ask for a bigger towel you'll be charged extra. I forgot my hair brush at home and asked if they provided brushes, they charged me $5 for an off brand tiny brush I won't ever use again. The stuff basically doesn't care. I asked an employee 3 different questions, ''what time does the pool area close'', ''what time does the steam room area is closed'' and ''how much time I'll have to take a bath and get ready after the facilities are closed''. He answered ''10 minutes'' 3 times without even looking at me, The look on his face was basically ''I'm bored leave me alone''. Another issue is the shampoo and conditioner, LADIES PLEASE DO BRING YOUR OWN SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER because whatever cheap Chinese off brand soap they poured in those bottles will leave your hair awfully tangled and dry. I normally use Living Proof brand and have no issues, my hair is healthy strong and shiny, everyone compliments me, but after using the spa castle shampoo my hair has been falling out for a week . I was literally afraid to brush my hair, I was terrified. I miiiiight come back with my own extra large towel and hair care products but I might as well be looking for better places in NY. Thanks for reading :) PS every time me and my fiance tried kissing or hugging, a so called life-guard (life-guard for what, the deepest pool there is 3 feet deep lol) blew his whistle, I guessed he felt like a cop that night, that's what happens when a college kid gets some power ahahah that sucked obviously read more

Beware. The upstairs recreational bathing area is run by the most unprofessional wannabe thug so called life guards. Their behavior is repulsive and it is alarming that the management for this facility would employ individuals who behave and treat paying customers this way. I am a observant Muslim woman. Therefore I do not go into co-ed public areas unless I am appropriately covered. I came to the upstairs bathing area covered. I was approached by one of these thuggish lifeguards and rudely told I needed to take my covering off to be in the water. Then I was directed to an area where I could rent a bathing suit. My religious observance was completely disregarded and disrespected. Ruined my experience and those of my guests. The guards approach ,unprofessional ism ,tone ,lack of customer service was completely inexcusable. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know. So proceed with caution if your religious practices will cause the staff here to be insensitive and rude towards you as well as embarrass you. Religious discrimination. Take the time to properly train your thugged out life guards to deal with the public with respect and courtesy. Also my review is not the only review complaining about the life guards at this facility. You can provide a safe environment without insulting your guests. I suggest training be given immediately this oversight could cost you more than your establishment can bear. A few more of these and I smell a lawsuit. read more

What a cool place. There is definately nothing else like it in the new york city area. For sure worth a visit. The place itself is huge and is very nice. There are tons of areas in the facility. There are the massage areas, pools, sauna, dining, bars. The pools are the highlight of the place. Up on the roof there are a few pools which are very clean, very cute. There aren't huge, but there are not for doing laps. They are just for relaxing and light swimming. There is sundeck surrounding the pools. The decks are also nice. Again, not huge but we found lounge chairs. The bar area is cool. It is right inside from the pools. It is difficult to find pools in nyc that also have a bar! It kind of feels like you are at a resort on a vacation and I love that. The massage areas are very nice and we had a couple of massages and there were really good. The saunas areas look cool but I did not try them. The food area is kind of basic, but the food seemed fresh. It was good. The staff was very friendly. Now....taking public transportation there is a little complex. We had to take the subway then walk to a parking lot. We then had to wait for a shuttle bus. It was really bizarre, but actually kind of fun just because it was so novel! Again, kind of like you are on a vacation. Not your normal daily nyc routine for sure! I recommend it and also think it would be a great place to bring out of town guests. read more

This place used to be a perfect place to get away from hipster purgatory, Brooklyn. Hopping on 7 train for Xi'an's noodle slurp fest then hitting this hidden gem made the long train ride worthwhile. I read about death of an old man at the outdoor pool sometime last year, but this didn't really deter me from returning to Spa Castle last week. I haven't been here for a while. I guess crowd changed a lot since I was here last. What a bummer. Place got some parts remodeled so it looked nice..that is only for first five minutes. But soon I realized there's some trashy Flushing Main Street ghetto shit going down. If I ever wanted trip over disgusting food trash or get annoyed by bitchy loud mouthed girls who yaps nonstop in the dry sauna I would come here...seriously they looked like some chinese gang bangers. It was just like standing on the busy street corner in flushing, people leaving their trash, being pushy and showing zero consideration for others. I guess these people expect others to pick up after their crap since they paid their entrance fee. Hey, if you're going to act like a pig, do it in the privacy of your home. But then again spa castle's got to make money, they can't be choosy about their customers, trashy or classy Enough of my ranting. This place used to be classy and mellow, at least on the weekdays. I will miss you Spa Castle, and I won't be returning. read more

I loved the saunas! They have varying temperatures and different health benefits that they explain on a map. My favorite was the Himalayan salt sauna that was set at a moderately hot temperature. (Tip: Bring in one of the free small towels they provide to use as a pillow, to sit on, or to wipe away sweat.) Our culture is unlike most others and uncomfortable with being naked. But I thought the naked baths (gender-segregated) were great, and it was my first time trying them out. (Tip: I was super uncomfortable at first, but I did find that other people see you, but no one's really looking at you. So eventually realized there's no need to feel so self-conscious.) On weekends, they have rotating special "event baths"; when I went, Saturdays were healing herbs and Sundays were rosewater. The naked baths are located in the same area as the open showers, which enforce a "no towel/uniform/bathing suit" rule, so know that if you want to rinse off after your day but aren't comfortable with being naked in front of other people, you're going to need to wait until you get home. If you'd rather use the pools where you can wear a bathing suit, they're great as well, and you can also hang out with opposite-gender people you came with. (Tip: The massaging jets are great, and a perfectly viable and free alternative to paying $100+ for a half hour massage.) read more

This place is terrible. Management is terrible. I've been to Spa Castle many times over the course of 10 years. A week before my visit, I confirmed that the business has finally re-opened. I was so excited, I purchased six weekday tickets. On the date of choice, I checked again and it states "open" on google so our group started heading out. When we arrived, the business is closed. I was shocked. We had to leave in disappointment. The next day, I called in to see if management could do us a favor and adjust our tickets from weekday tickets to weekend tickets so we can visit the same weekend. However, this is where the terrible customer service kicked in. First, 30 mins on hold. Second, the assistant manager was rude. The only option that was offered was a refund. Which in my opinion isn't the goal of a re-opening establishment. I have six people, everyone will be grabbing food and drinks and possible a massage. Instead of being a little flexible, they rather us not come. I don't understand why a reopening establishment would rather a long term client and his referrals to not come. Take my experience as an example that Spa Castle is not the best option, as we had other choices, we choose spa castle to support the businesses in our neighborhood. We don't feel like we are treated like a neighbor, more so a nuisance. read more

If you knew how amazing this place was when it first opened you would literally cry. I used to frequent this place on a monthly basis when it first opened and it was an oasis an escape from the grittiness of the city until the low life's from the hood came and f...Ed it up for everyone. The last time I was there was like 2 or 3 years after it opened. There were some lowlife women brawling right outside the spa. Who comes out of a spa and starts fighting??? Then you had the nasty hoes humping I'm the pools disgusting!!!! Low class low mentality types taking one of the most wonderful experiences and running it into the ground. The final straw was when I heard and old man had a heart attack in one of the whirl pools on the upper level and there were no people monitoring these pools his body sank to the bottom and was only discovered after a patron stepped on his body while trying to enter the pool . Just horrible. The management is at fault for one allowing people to get away with the behavior which permeated and destroyed an amazing facility and not keeping up those protective restrictions and then just letting the place go. What an absolute shame. If you attending this place in the first two years it opened you know what I'm talking about. read more

Spa Castle offers a variety of saunas, bathtubs, aqua therapy pools, sleeping lounges, spa service, and food and beverages. Spa castle cares about your mental and physical health. Using Spa Castle facility makes you healthier in so many ways. Saunas, Use of the saunas has so many benefits such as weight loss, skin glowing, better digestion, cleansing of the organs, better immune system, etc. Heated aqua therapy pools Use of the heated aqua therapy pools releases muscle tension due to the many different types of water jets located inside the pools. Combine fun with water and get a massage at the same time. Sleeping lounge No doubt, there was a scientific study that proved people who sleep deeply live longer. After rejuvenating your body using the saunas and pools feel free to get some shut-eye in the sleeping lounge. I am sure that after sweating and taking a shower with cured water you will feel that it is time for some relaxation, want to rest, and pass out. The sleeping lounge offers a tranquil environment that allows you to shut out noise and rest without any interruptions, resulting with you falling deeply asleep. These are my guidelines and information on usage of Spa Castle. I hope this is helpful for new comers. Happy New Year^^ read more

I'm a regular at spa castle. I have always enjoyed myself even with the typical complaints cost, noise, kids etc... This time on a Monday I could not overlook the issues. When you go to a spa you want to feel welcomed and relaxed, but the line was long to get in and the staff was unable to handle the crowd. There was no management to direct the situation so it ended up very pushy and loud. They did a nice job in redoing the locker, but what's the point if it's filthy. The vanity area where they provide the lotions, q tips, aftershave was gross. The q tip had grim in the bottom of the clear container they used, it was obvious no one cleaned or wipe out the container before refilling. Most of the lotions were half open and dripping. I also complained about the soap dispensers twice, which was either broken, empty or filled with water. I was basically ignored. The locker and the wet area just needs a good cleaning. I think it's just getting more crowded and the staff just can't keep up, at the same time they are trying to cut corners to save money. They've changed the menu and raised some of the prices, $15.00 or more for fried rice? I really enjoyed my passed visits but I'm not sure if I'll go as often. read more

I feel a bit weird giving the spa castle a one star rating because I loved this place so much.. However things have taken a turn for the worst, and worst yet I don't think it will ever change for the better.. I believe they've taken the quantity over quality approach.. As long as there are hoodrats and a billion screaming kids to fill the place they will continue on there downward spiral.. Cons Closed poolside bar Too many noisy kids Loud people in the sauna Bad staff Bar area (who wants to go all the way upstairs to get a drink) Drink prices ($14 for a plain unmixed drink) Pros If ya go in the winter during the week ya might get lucky and half enjoy yourself when there's not so many people around Overall previous ratings have all been correct the place was amazing a true getaway till the gangsters and hoodrats busted up in there getting drunk and having sex in the pools while there kids scream there faces off stealing all the towels and uniforms that really changed the place lmao.. I'm laughing but it's sad and true after I saw this soap opera unfold before my eyes where one Russian mans wife got drunk and started having sex with some drunk Dominican guy I knew it was the end and so it was.. read more
