My sister and I booked appointments here for a 30 minute massage, manicure, and pedicure so that we could relax the day before her bachelorette party. We used a "sudden blitz" deal that we had purchased several months ago. We both agreed that our experience here was not relaxing, and not even worth the discounted price we paid for it. We were told to put on robes and taken into our massage rooms. There was no hook in my massage room to hang my robe, so I had to put it on the floor. My massage was basically an experiment in how much oil my massage therapist could put on my back. She just kept slicking it on! My sister said that her massage therapist kept yanking and jerking her arms and legs around really sporadically. We were both hopeful the mani/pedi would be better, but it went downhill from here. They only had one nail tech on staff, and while she was perfectly nice, she was not very good. She went back and forth between the two of us, and it took two and half hours to get our mani/pedis! My cuticles had paint all over them, and there were parts of my nail that only got one coat of paint and you can clearly see that the paint was not evenly applied. My sister's nails chipped less than a day later. We were at this salon for three and a half hours for services that should have taken half that time. I feel that when I booked the appointments, the front desk should have told me that we would only have one nail tech and it would take longer. To top it off, we had to pay a $3 massage tax and $1.50 for the nail files used during our mani/pedis. This just seemed tacky at a place like this. For what is supposed to be a relaxing experience, this just turned out to be a stressful debacle. read more

My fiancée had a nice massage here once upon a time. So she wanted another one... So she called and left a message, and got a call back a week after she wanted the massage... So she tried again, left a message, and never got a return call... So she called again, and is still waiting for her call to be returned... Meanwhile, she is enjoying a massage at a different place, a place that answers the phone... It sounds like the massages are great, the customer service on the other hand... read more

Used to love this place: the fun girls who worked here, available tanning beds, great prices. Now it's a bit hoity-toity: very "service-oriented" (How can that be bad, right? Well, dude, I just want to tan. I don't need water, or soothing music, or iced tea. It might be nice if you remember my name, but just say hi and let me go.), low lighting, [sigh] it's almost too nice. As the previous reviews mentioned, booked an appointment is awful here. I literally called 10 times just to get through. As noted leaving a message does not get you a call back. However, I was persistent because I had purchased a living social deal for a facial, massage, and pedicure. I give the spa 0 stars for their front desk service - literally the worst I have ever had. Upon arrival it did seem like a relaxing spot. They have nice robes and a selection of beverages to choose from. What I did not care for was the wait time in between all of my services. It was a wait of about 15 minutes in between each service. This just got frustrating, especially when no one told me how long the wait would be. (I do have other things going on during the day!) Also, the person who did my facial was a little pushy on the products which were rather expensive. I wasn't in the market for a $150 face cream so I just politely nodded. The really awkward part of the entire ordeal is that I believe I was forgotten about at the end. After my pedicure the women told me she would let me dry and come back. Twenty minutes later she still wasn't back so I awkwardly got up and changed and went to check out. I also feel like they incorrectly charged me a "massage tax" at the end of the service. I have been to multiple salons throughout the cities and used many groupon like coupons. However, I have never been charged a "tax". I did look this up when I got home and there is some sort of massage tax but it should only be charged on the discounted rate and I fail to believe that the tax on a $40 massage is over $10 (25% tax, really?). Thus I give the services 2 stars. I will not be returning to Spa Gabriella despite their claims of awards. The living social deal was nice but not worth the effort it took to book and the awkwardness of the visit. read more

Can't say it enough---the service is terrible here! Incredibly rude staff Broken machines Won't return calls Poorly managed and organized (no lotion, information, shower caps for spray tan, etc) All this and again, the staff that helps at the front desk and in the spray tan booth are always "put off" by having to help you and/or explain things. I purchased a crowd cut for a 60 minute massage. First, it took a few calls to be able to schedule. Then, I got a call several weeks later asking if I could reschedule to the middle of the day (no I can't reschedule to the middle of the work day). Then I showed up ON TIME for my massage but was told I was 15 minutes late. I was foolish enough to believe them - on returning home, I checked my calender and realized THEY were wrong. Anyway, I took the 45 minute massage over having to reschedule. The massage wasn't that great. Too much lotion, which she got in my hair, even though I had it up. I will say that the massage bed is a nice heated bed. Then I tried to schedule a mani/pedi (another crowd cut) and was told that they were booked until 1/7/12, they don't have their schedule available after that, and the crowd cut expires on 1/14/12. I am just fuming... you should not be stressed out about wasting money after a massage! read more

I recently purchased a "living social deal" from the Spa. I am not certain that I will ever be allowed to use the package. They do not return phone messages, they will not schedule appointments by phone or in person stating they will only book the living social through e-mail. Unfortunately they don't return the e-mail messages either. Was in the spa in person attempting to schedule an appointment. The girl at the front was so rude and made me feel like I was a bother to even talk to. She stated they were "soooo busy" and she was "getting crabby." There was only one other customer to be seen and she was getting her nails done. I offered to wait until the other customer was gone and she stated that "we will not book the living social deal except over e-mail." Ug. The service and staff are terrible. Perhaps they offered the deal to gain customers but I would never ever seek a service at this spa if I had not purchased the deal. Just hope I get to use it. read more

Grand Tan was great, sadly, Spa Gabriella is terrible. The girls who work there now, are incredibly rude, on more than one occasion I had some pretty horrible customer service. And twice now, the door was locked before 8:00 (7:50 or earlier) when their posted time of closing is 8:00 pm. They've lost a pretty frequent customer...I even have some remaining tans left, but have decided to go elsewhere due to their poor service. read more

Same experience as others. They do not answer the phone, return messages or reply to emails. If you do get in there, they will tell you how busy they are, but nobody is around. I booked a "living social" deal; very limited availability for services, yet you get there and nobody is there. I don't get it. Can't wait to be done with my "deal". This place is a JOKE! I had a crowd cut coupon that i was so excited to come in for. It took me over a week just to book my appointment! They only do appointments over email, that is if you can get a hold of them. I finally go in for my service and i felt like i was being rushed the entire time like i was just a number there. Then come to find out this spa isnt even licensed! I honestly dont see how this spa is "award winning" Maybe they won the award for a spa operating without a license the longest.GROSS! I am terrifed! Then i find out they are giving away gift certificates for positive comments for their spa! You couldn't pay me any amount of money to put my name on such a place. STAY AWAY! I also read the article on star tribune which states the owner melissa was never even licensed to give massages! Good to know my sister received a massage from a scam! I purchased a Crowd Cut deal so my brother & I could do a mini spa day. It was really hard to arrange - no one answers the phone, had to schedule a month and a half in advance to get services at the same time. So we blocked-off schedules, asked off for work, etc - then they called very last-minute and cancelled. So we re-arranged everything, re-scheduled for weeks later - and literally HOURS beforehand they cancelled again. Incredibly inconvenient. I'll probably just have to kiss the money I spent for this "deal" goodbye. read more
