Five out of five for the 60 minute Swedish massage by Samantha! It was my very first massage ever, and I loved every minute of it, and wish I would have opted for the 90 minute massage!! We came here for a girls spa day, and it was amazing! The owner is the most amazing person on earth, so welcoming and sweet! Our party was perfect and we have already decided that we will be back every 6 months for a little pampering and relaxation! I don't think I would get a shellac manicure here again though, there are ridges and it is uneven, and not very shiny. My pedicure is fantastic though!!! Got a couples massage through groupon. WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. I don't know if I was treated differently because I was a groupon customer but I basically paid to get lotion rubbed on my body, the massage was not relaxing AT ALL...all I kept thinking was how is this called a massage????? Horrible experience, front desk was also rude and badgered me with phone calls, claiming I did not tip properly. Who does that???? I will never go back. Save your money for somewhere else!!! I had a Groupon for a 90 minute massage and had a very nice experience. I thought it was strange that I had to go online, register and then call for the appointment, but I got an appointment within a week or so of calling at my preferred time so I didn't have the scheduling problem mentioned in some of the previous reviews. The massage itself was the best massage I've ever had. I left feeling like I had 2 glasses of wine on an empty stomach. very relaxed! I enjoyed the aromatherapy during the massage. I do agree that it's not the same experience as some of the more top notch rated places in terms of before and after. The sitting area was fine and in the end it's the services that count for me. I wish I could give different ratings according to different factors. The massage therapists were great, but the spa itself was ok. We went there for a couples massage special that came with champagne and aromatherapy. Our massage therapists were Eugene and Sheila, who were both great. They did a good job and took good care of us. This was my first massage, so I can't really compare the massage itself to anything else I've had. However, they were very kind and professional. I went to another spa once before for a facial and I thought it was wonderful because they had me go into this very luxurious locker room/restroom type area and had me change into a plush robe. Then they had me wait in a dark room lit with candles to wait for my appointment time. It was very relaxing. This spa doesn't have anything like that. They have a sitting area with couches and such to sit and wait for your appointment, but it's nothing very luxurious or relaxing other than the dim lighting. They have a lot of paintings on the walls that are pretty, and apparently they are all for sale because they all have a price prominently displayed next to them. I thought that was kind of tacky for a spa. Our appointment was originally at 2 PM and they called me that morning to see if we could come at 2:15. It wasn't a problem, but I didn't get the message until right before we left to go there because I slept all morning (I work the night shift). We got there at 2 because they told us there would be paperwork to fill out. The paperwork took about five minutes then we waited until 2:35 before we went into the room for our massage. The massage itself was great. The only complaint I have from that point forward was that there was a woman in the room next door to us who was talking and laughing very loudly. The walls there aren't thick to say the least. It would be nice if they staff told people to try to be quiet in the spa area and/or post a sign or something that advised people of such. Overall, I'd go back to this place if it was for a special price, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again. read more

I almost left here in tears, in the best way possible. My husband had given me a Groupon for this place last year for my birthday and I had tucked it away. I've always been very leery of spas, especially those that advertise on Groupon. I am so glad I took a chance. From the receptionist that scheduled to my appointment to every single person I came in contact with, I received nothing but the most polite, professional, genuinely nice service possible. I scheduled a day of pampering which included a manicure, facial, and massage. I came home glowing and told my husband that I wanted a gift certificate to this place for every holiday from now on. I'm still leery of spas, but this one has earned my trust and my business. What sets them apart are the little things. The mimosa, the "relaxation room", the lights and the candles and the music, they have put in the extra effort with the little things that all add up to a wonderful, top notch experience. The staff at Spa Mariana made my mom and I feel relaxed and comfortable for our spa day. We had a BFF massage with Aaron and Isaac and both enjoyed our Signature Massages. The extras were great too. The hot stones, peppermint foot rub and lavender scalp massage were nice additions. Our facials were equally wonderful with Dorota and Gosia. The pumpkin enzyme facial was great and smelled good too! My mom had the Hydration facial and her skin looked so plump and hydrated after. We left with glowing and soft skin! She has a very good, uplifting energy, she knows what she is doing and she was mentally there on where she was working the whole time. She didn't make me speak and answer some questions for the sake of feedback during the session which was very relaxing. The greeting was OK but the spa was far from being quiet - I was able to hear the staff next door chatting, speaking on the phone and giggling; perhaps they could consider investing in some soundproofing. I had a pedicure. The person who did it did a nice job. Toes look good and the skin feels soft. The relaxation room where you go after a treatment is really pleasant. The staff were all very welcoming However, I will not be returning. When I called to make an appointment for pedicure, I told the receptionist that I have a coupon. She booked the appointment. I left the coupon at the desk when I arrived. When I came to the desk to pay, I was informed that the coupon does not apply for pedicures. I saw they were correct, it was in the fine print of the coupon. My objection is that I was not reminded of that when I called to schedule the appointment. The receptionist should have told me that the coupon does not apply to pedicures. Also, there is a service charge for using a credit card. Since I have another coupon for a friend, she will not be using it. She also wanted a pedicure, however the coupon does not apply. read more

I really wanted a spa day for my birthday and starting looking at every spa in my area on yelp. There were so many options, especially in Birmingham, and this one was sort of in my price range. I knew I wanted a package so I get could get the most services done and other spas in the area were $500+ and I wanted to stay around $400. I read nearly every review on this place and decided on the signature day package, which includes the signature massage, a seaweed facial, a lunch, and the signature mani/pedi. First things first, booking the appointment was a relaxing experience in itself bc the receptionist had such a soothing voice. I wanted to keep calling bc she had some sort of asmr quality about her. The spa has a great ambiance, smelled very spa like, and was clean. When I got there for my appointment the receptionist already had my robe and locker ready for me. The robe was very plush and comfortable. She offered me tea right away (I probably had 7 cups of tea in my 5 hours there). Anyways, my massage was phenomenal 10/10 recommend. I like pressure so it was very firm and I loved the hot stones. I hadn't ever had a hot stone massage so I didn't know what to expect but it was really great and a relaxing sensation. The scalp massage was probably my favorite part. This was my first time ever getting a facial. The facialist first asked me what my skin concerns were and I told her I have sensitive dry skin. She really tailored the facial for my needs, incorporating oils and certain ingredients that weren't necessarily already included. It was very relaxing and calming. The lady was so nice and I really love the sound of her voice it's very soothing. My lunch was delicious. They cater from papa joes and I got the turkey sandwich. It was a big sandwich and I had fruit too. Very yummy 10/10 recommend. It was ready for me by the time I came out of my facial. The one part of the day that doesn't really compare to the others was the mani pedi. It wasn't that relaxing and my nails chipped right away. I prefer shellac and it really was my fault for not calling ahead and adding the shellac before hand bc when I got the nail portion of the day I asked the technician if I could add shellac instead of regular polish and she said no bc she didn't have the time to do them. She attempted to accommodate like if I didn't do the scrub and wrap then there would be time but I was excited for those parts so I was like "no it's okay". She had a sort of unique attitude I guess I could say. Everyone else through the day was so nice and calming but she was complaining about her day and other things during my time with her. I did ultimately enjoy her company, I just wish I could have had shellac because my nails chipped right away, and bc she had been complaining about her long day, and bc the next person was already there, I didn't ask her to fix it. Regardless of the nail lady, everything was great. Will definitely be returning, just not for nails. read more

My Mom and I came here yesterday for massages. Birmingham spas tend to be on the smaller side, likely due to the cost of real estate, but Spa Mariana was not small at all. The waiting room was private and had seating for about 10 people. There was infused water, hot tea selections and we were also offered champagne after our massage. We booked for couple massage to use for Christmas, we used it yesterday. Our experience was wonderful, you are greeted with Champagne or mimosa while registering yourself electronically. I had Kyle and my husband had Kosha both were good, Both if us requested medium stress relief pressure massage! It looks like Medium was close to deep tissue so you will be sore getting it and Expect to be sore after. I came about 15 minutes early for my first appointment, a body treatment (Seaweed Detox), mind you this was my first ever spa experience. The receptionist was very polite and offered me tea. Kasia, personnel, came out about 5 minutes later. I explained to her that this was my first time ever doing a body treatment. She was professional, she explained to me what I was to do when it came time to wrap in foil or take a shower to rinse the residual seaweed mask off. My skin was soft and supple. Very adept at her job. I also had an appointment later that afternoon with Kenny. He came in with a smile and brought me to the room for my herbal massage. He was great! Very professional! I came here for a massage and facial and had Gosia who did both my massage and facial. She was very sweet and attentive, applied just the right amount of pressure during the massage, and made sure every part of my body was addressed equally. I think it may be one of the best massages I've ever had! The facial was also excellent and left my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. The relaxation room was very clean and nicely decorated. I would have liked it a little more if they had let me change into a robe at the very beginning so I didn't have to wear my regular clothes while trying to relax prior to the massage but that's a minor detail.
