Our yrly trip to Asheville never disappoints! I always find great spa ideas on Groupon during the winter mths. I spent approx. 1.5hrs in at this cozy easy to find spa, located downtown. I had a little time to explore and eat lunch which was a plus, normally Im running around taking pics. Parking was free with Groupon up to 3hrs, if you go over parking was $2.00 ph across the street from spa. Read groupon they give great directions, follow them. Upon entering the hostess was kind, she had us fill out a form that is standard with all spa services. We waited for 10 minutes before being taken back to changing rooms. They offered us drinks & tasty popcorn which I highly recommend you try! The Spa & dressing rooms were clean and comfy. I recommend you try this spa, we had a nice relaxing time. Very peaceful and calming. The ladies did a fab job and were accommodating at all times. Hands down one of my best experiences in Asheville. read more

Sadly, I did not have a positive experience with Spa Theology. My massage therapist was a no show. I walked in on a Saturday to inquire about availability for a massage. They told me they were booked, but they could get me in on Sunday. I scheduled an appointment for 10:00 am on Sunday with "one of their best" massage therapists. I arrived at 9:50, like the receptionist told me to, and I was ushered to the waiting area on the back. There were other people waiting, and at 10:00 their therapists came to collect them for their appointments, however my therapist didn't come to get me. I waited 10 minutes & then went to ask if he was delayed. The receptionist checked and found out that he had overslept. She apologized profusely and told me he was on his way and would arrive in 10 minutes, and she assured me that he "was really good and worth the wait." I waited until 10:30 and then left. read more

Don't waste your money on an add-on!! I scheduled a 60 minute therapeutic massage with a body detox add-on. When I went to pick a time, it said an hour and 15 minutes, so one would expect the add on to be an extra 15 minutes. Nope. My massage and dry brushing experience ended at an hour. When I asked the front desk about it, she said it's only for an hour. What the heck was the point of me spending an extra $30?!?! Had I known that, I never would have done the add-on since it cut into my massage time. Makes absolutely no sense. Ruined what was a good massage so that's why I couldn't give it more than 2 stars. I had an epiphany at Spa Theology that all of the world's problems could be solved if we all took more time to relax, reduce the stress in our bodies, and celebrate oversized robes that embrace you like a baby in a blanket. My wife and I had a long and stressful couple weeks and decided to treat ourselves to a fairly spontaneous couples massage. We called up the evening before and they were happy to squeeze us in! We were greeted warmly at the reception desk and shown the back area. I was given a 10xl bathrobe to lounge in while we waited for our service providers, and I have to say that I'm having a tough time thinking of anything better than a 10xl bathrobe. It's like a vacation, you can wear. Our service proviers, Becki and Misti were so courteous and gracious. They asked if there were any particular areas we needed to have focus on, or what we preferred in a massage. I store a lot of stress in my neck and brow, and mentioned that I'd like a focus there. Our massages began and we were off to the races... the race to relaxation... and eventually sleep. I was super pleased with the amount of pressure. She left crying...the individual that took care of her made her feel ugly...isn't this supposed to have the opposite effect. Really enjoyed my massage here. The spa is beautiful and very clean. Tea and citrus water were available and they had full bathrooms with showers if you wanted that option. Staff is super friendly and my masseuse Nicole was great- very attentive, understood my needs and made me feel very comfortable. Best foot massage I've ever had! I opted for a 60 minute massage and added the warm oil scalp massage- it was super relaxing but felt very short-lived for the additional $25. Overall, highly recommend! My boyfriend and I recently visited here while on vacation for Thanksgiving to Asheville. Being an Asheville native and now living in LA I am quite particular and picky when it comes to the places we go to for spa dates and massages. As soon as you walk in the door you are invited in and welcomed with open arms. The place is so nurturing and zenful that you instantly and literally drop all your pain(if you are in any) off at the door on your way in. We had been traveling and flying a lot so we had a lot of back pain from flights. The massage therapists were knowledgeable and intuitive about the specific target areas and the muscles we needed worked on. As well as gave us tips on how to prevent pains like that in the future. Great treatment, beautiful space. I had a wonderful facial. I have rosacea and I usually do not get facials because most esthetician will wreck my skin but I decided to take a chance. I was very glad I did, my esthetician was very knowledgeable and experienced, my skin certainly looked better than when I started and it was significantly less red. I wish I could remember her name because I totally recommend her for my fellow rosacea suffers. She was very tactfully about telling me I should to go back to the dermatologist that my 'early stage rosacea' was not so early stage anymore and that there was some new treatments I could try. I really appreciated that she was referring me for my condition rather that trying trying to sell me a bunch of products that wouldn't have helped me. The one product she did recommend seems to be working great. The skin consultation I received was very helpful. This is defiantly a day spa to go for a treatment or two rather than a place like the Grove Park where you can spend a day as they did not have a sauna or steam room or things like that. I would have given this place four stars for the amenities but my super knowledgeable and skilled esthetician pushed this into the five star category for me. read more

My boyfriend and I booked our appointment through Willow Winds, where we are staying. We didn't know that you had to book the spa appointment 3 days before, nevertheless, we were still squeezed in. My masseuse was Nathan and my boyfriend's masseuse was Amber. We added some hot stones to our massage... they were phenomenal. Everyone was so nice, polite and courteous. We were treated so well. I know the term "half-assed", but is " 1/4 assed" something we can start using? That's the best way I can describe our $350 experience at Spa Theology. Allow me to preface by stating that I work in the spa industry and made this clear when I booked the appointments and again to my therapist before the treatments began. I would hope by me expressly saying that we get massages regularly that would be a hint for the therapist to be on her A-game, but I guess not. The lotions were cold (and on a really cold day this was very unpleasant), her touch was very unassertive incomplete, and lacked confidence of someone who knew their craft. I'm not sure if she is a new therapist, but with the price point Spa Theology sets, I would recommend they hire more experienced therapists. There is a reason why a lot of MT's start at places like Massage Envy and work their way up, you jump into a high end spa right away and you open yourself up to a clientele that expects the best. I certainly did, considering the reviews. The "body brushing" felt very sparse, as did the scalp treatment. Every time she would find a good rhythm and pressure, she would abruptly stop and move to another area. I came in with glute, hip, and back pain, and she barely acknowledged these areas. She literally used her fists to lightly knead my glutes in one spot for one minute each side. She did not even attempt to look for tension areas or trigger points anywhere on my body. Ridiculous. My least favorite part (what I was looking forward to the most due to travel and the sudden cold weather) was the "sinus clearing facial stone massage"... That didn't even TOUCH my sinuses. I also told her I was an esthetican sooooooooooooooo.... Really, dude???!! I know they teach you facial massage in school, what's up? At 20% auto gratuity on $290, that's a considerable tip that could've bought us two massages elsewhere. To think that they make that sort of tip automatically has clearly made the therapists too comfortable and not interested in giving the best service- why would you? It's guaranteed money regardless. We are on our honeymoon and did not want to spend time arguing with the desk about the charges as I've read another reviewer tried. The energy was really weird in there. We went to the Salt Spa on Hendersonville afterward and got very zen with a beautiful experience (well worth the money)- wishing we had done all of our treatments there instead. read more
