The best $2.00 I ever spent! This thing has been to space and back...multiple times! How cool is that?!? I loved being able to wld around it and see the under side. You can really understand the scale of the engineering feat. I also really liked seeing the video on how the shuttle was moved to its current location at the California Science Center. It rests on a suspension system that's built to withstand a relatively serious earthquake and I also found that very interesting. read more

We went to see the space shuttle Endeavour on the Tuesday before New Years Day - when school was still out for holidays and maybe lots of people were off from work (we were). Parking was fast and close because we arrived at 9:30am - traffic was way lighter than we thought it would be. It costs $10 (cash) to park in the surface lot adjacent to the California Science Center and across from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. We had bought tickets for Endeavour online because the website said reservations were required at certain times of the year and on weekends. Tickets were $2 each and our time to line up was at 10:15am. The exhibits did not open until 10am but it was very nice that the doors to the first floor opened early so people could go inside where it was warm. Just before 10am, the staff let everyone start going through the turnstiles and up the escalators and stairs. The Endeavour exhibit is on two different levels. At the top of the escalators, turn left and there is the lineup for the first part of the exhibit - no lineup at all because we were there so early - they let us through right at 10am even though our tickets were for 10:15am. The video shows the shuttle flying around the LA area on the top of a 747 and then landing at LAX on September 21, 2012 - then its journey on October 11-14, 2012 from LAX through the streets of LA to its current location at the Science Center. Stunning to see the massive size of the shuttle moving between buildings and trees and through subdivisions and so cool to see the joy on the faces of all of the people who had turned out to watch the journey. Totally worth taking the time to watch this more than once. Avoid the space shuttle simulator unless you have very young kids who might be thrilled by it. It was described as experiencing the astronaut's point of view of a shuttle launch, mission and landing. We weren't remotely expecting anything like Star Tours from Disney World but we thought it would be something that would at least impress adults with the video, if not the motion. But, this is a kiddie ride in every way and it was in no way worth the cost or the time it took - definitely not worth waiting in a long line for it (we didn't, just a few minutes). There were a few shakes, a few banks and turns, the video was very poor and on a small screen and wasn't even actual footage from shuttles - not even the aerial/earth views. The landing was actually cool with the voice counting down the altitude and watching the runway approach but wasn't worth the $6 cost to ride, for us. The actual Endeavour space shuttle is downstairs, through some double doors and outside and then into a large white hangar. It is absolutely amazing to see this - the sheer size of it - knowing it left the earth and returned 25 times - knowing it carried astronauts safely into space and back. There are placards on the walls with the dates and history of every shuttle mission with pictures of the astronauts, including the Challenger and Columbia missions which did not return - eyes watered up for sure. This pavilion also has lots of information about the shuttle construction - really amazing to read about the tiles on the bottom and how they protect from intense heat on reentry but yet could be crumbled or crushed in one hand. There are some videos, a display of one of the main engines down on the level of the floor (it's huge) and also a model of the future plans for this shuttle - which are to mount it to an external fuel tank and a pair of rocket boosters and stand it upright as in position for a launch - this will be something we have to see when it's finished in 2017. And back upstairs, not in the actual Endeavour exhibit area - there are some really great still photographs on one of the walls on the 2nd level showing the shuttle's journey through LA. These photographers really captured the emotion and impact of the moments. Shot from different perspectives, like from behind four children looking out of a small apartment window at the top of the shuttle passing by - or two boys shooting baskets apparently having no idea that the nose of shuttle is visible in the street right behind them - people standing on rooftops - up against barriers trying to get close to it - it's a really nice compilation of shots for sure. Go early - it gets crowded - even with the ticket system limiting the access, the Endeavour pavilion with the actual shuttle was really nice and open at 10:30am but was jammed with people by 11am, including kids running around and screaming. read more

We and the kids spent a full day at the museum, and enjoyed, and learned a lot there! Highly recommend, go and spend a full day in the museum and don't miss the Space Shuttle Endeavor. read more

This is a not to be missed exhibit. An amazing piece of history for all to enjoy. We went on a Saturday at 1:00, parking was easy, and even though there were many people, we were able to see the exhibits without being crowded. My boys are still talking about it! read more

Museums are amazing! You get to see so many artifacts of many items throughout history! The most amazing thing about this one is the fact that you can see a space shuttle...right...in...front of you! Stand in awe next to one of the greatest marvels of human invention -- the space shuttle. While the exhibit itself is relatively small, it's incredible being next to (and walking around) the Endeavor. Worth a visit and the minimal fee. read more

I drove past the museum sooo many times before I finally came for a visit. It's donation based and deserves to be visited. On your way out you should stroll through the rose garden. read more

Awesome sight !!!! Bring some lunch with you and snacks, they do not check at the entrance and there are lots of tables available where you can sit at with your kids and eat. Definitely do the IMAX show its a great 3D experience, sit in the back because it is a huge screen. read more

Quite an amazing site the Endeavor. It looks like a flying brick. When standing underneath this massive space craft your amazed at the intricacies of the body. It looks like it was put together one piece at a time. The exhibit is really very informative with lots of volunteers to answer all your questions. We also went through the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit and that was pretty informative. The museum is very nice and parking wasn't bad at all. read more

Thanks to a visiting nephew who wanted to explore every aspect of Los Angeles, we made the trek down to Exposition Park to visit everything that was possible to see in 1 day. Very cool and well done exhibit. Information is presented in a variety of mediums and the shuttle is really a sight to see. If you dodge the school traffic it really is a very enjoyable experience. I'm excited to see what the permanent structure will look like. read more

We saw the space shuttle, and it was presented in the best possible way with pictures, and mission breakdowns surrounding her. There was a video playing that everyone was gripped to in silence, and the feeling of patriotism I experienced made me want to cry. Surreal. Bravo! read more

I have to say I was very disappointed that the Endeavor exhibit did not have an elevated walkway so visitors could see into the bay - particularly since the other shuttle exhibits do have this feature. I want to know why? Otherwise I thought the whole presentation was quite good. read more

As I walked around the space shuttle with my family and saw it up close, I noticed some moisture around my eyes. My wife had the same thing. There are plenty of tickets without IMAX - just go online the day before - you pay $2.00 per person. I could say more, but I don't need to. read more

What a please surprise, it was basically included in the Pompeii exhibition ($2.00 more)?. I really found it quite interesting, they answered questions it hadn't occurred to me to ask. Seeing the actual ship was incredible. You could take your time and go through at your own pace. read more

I took my girlfriend Tonisha here for her birthday and she like, "Why you gotta take me here to see a big old airplane?" and I say, "This ain't any big old airplane! This the one we saw go by Randy's Donuts in Inglewood." And she say, "I don't remember no big ass airplane being towed down the street" and I say "because you was binging on bearclaws because you can't drop the Indo smoke." Then I tell her, "I flew this bird all around the earth" and she say, "yeah right! You drive an 83' Cutlass with gold rims and a chain steering-wheel" and I say "this one got a chain steering-wheel and gold rims too" and she say "I ain't see no wheels on it" and i say "that's because they didn't drop the landing gear". Then she tell me that I gotta stop lying if I want our relationship to go any further than the big ass aquarium they had outside and I say, "Baby, know what NASA stand for? Nyron's Asskickin' Space Armada" and she slap me so hard my fro' pick go flying to the moon. They show a film about it on the IMAX now about it narrated by Leonardo DaVincio. read more

It was great to be able to see the Endeavor. The exhibit was set up very nicely with interesting information and explanations about the shuttle and the history of all 6 space shuttles. Only downside was that you were not able to go inside the Endeavor at all. It's suspended in the air above you. Other than that--amazing stuff, including being able to see one of the main engines and the external tank, which is the last one on Earth. read more

So I wait four years to come see thinking the hype should die down by now. Lucky enough to see it without waiting in line like my kids probably did when they came before. Can't help thinking about the Spruce Goose and the huge space created for one vehicle that the public eventually lost interest in. We purchased tickets in advance for the Pompeii exhibit for a specific time. Upon arrival we were told that we could not get in line until our scheduled time. Worst of all , once in line, we were told that the wait time is expected to be one hour and a half. Sounds like the administration's primary purpose is to feed their greedy pockets. There is no concern for customers or exhibit. Not quite the family experience I was expecting. read more

If your an engineer or scientist, you got to see this exhibit to fully appreciate it. It's actually much larger in person than I thought, and there is a special aura about it. Maybe because it's been in space, but its awe inspiring to see something that human beings build that is so great. It's currently in a hangar, and you can't actually get inside the shuttle, but you can walk under and around it. They are suppose to make a dedicated building and stack it upright for people to get closer to it. read more

i did enjoy the shuttle viewing, and it is free, and i was able to walk in without a ticket on a weekday, and there were few people around. no particular mean-spirited reason for the four stars, or any particular problem that i have with it. it might have been because it was near closing time, and i was zipping through the museum. also for me, it was hard to really get a "feel" for the shuttle, with it being lifted high up on the hydraulics. i was in awe for a little bit by the enormous size and seeing a part of history, but then i was ready to move on to the exhibits here, and the rest of the museum. many people seem to rave about the imax, so perhaps watching it would have changed my perspective to give it 5-stars. read more

Very interesting place with lots of thins to see and do for adults & kids. I esp. enjoyed the IMAX Hubble movie which was an impressive 3D overview. What ruins this place is the disorganization & lack of planning they have for people traffic control. Of course, you have the usual entitled/neglectful parents who let their children run & scream all over the place + the masses of tourists + regular locals all converging upon a museum that has a variety of exhibits, some requiring special tickets, with no order or attempt to control the people flow. This mess can be easily resolved, but it seems as though they think as though a free-for-all is easier than bothering to have some kind of organization. read more
