When she arrived to get the barge, marina officials said the barge she reserved was broken (last user broken steering wheel), but an 8-passenger barge was available. NO Good! There were 11 in the party. Why didn't the marina call her as soon as they knew the barge was broken and tell her so? They waited for her to arrive after driving 30 miles to tell her. They ruined part of my grandson's birthday for him and his friends. Will never use again or recommend to others. Worst Customer Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We started in the visitor center with Wi-Fi, maps, and a small gift shop. We followed the trails down to the marina. We passed campsite's & pullouts. Many boaters, some swimmers (with designated areas and beaches even), some fishermen, and hikers scattered this area of Arkansas just outside of Hot Springs. It was fairly hot when we went, but still good fun and beautiful scenery. If time had permitted, I would have liked to take my daughters to Three Sisters Springs and other places. We instead stayed at Echo Canyon which is not technically part of the state park, but exists on Lake Ouachita.

It had two playground areas that I could see. One was just swings and the other was a playground (slides, etc.). There were plenty of picnic tables and BBQ's. There is a designated "beach" area that is sandy. This time of year - July - the water was pretty warm and clear. We did not swim in the water - next time we will. We went on a Saturday in the morning time and it was not very crowded, but it seemed to start to fill up faster as it approached noon. Fun area to come with family and friends and enjoy some food and the lake on a hot summer day!

We ended up having to switch boats with him. He was transferring his stuff to the boat and hit someone in the face with his flip by accident which is okay, but didn't apologize. The scariest part was the rope came off the tube when we pulled it, it was simply not tied on properly. I've been on the lake a number of times both on rented and owned boats. This was the only bad experience so far.

Why won't you make it easier to find where a person is going? If a camper were to show up after dark how in heavens name are you supposed to locate your campsite.

The staff was VERY friendly, helpful, and informative from start to finish. The check-in process was so easy, and they did a great job making sure we didn't spend our vacation waiting around. The pontoon boat was clean, comfortable, and the tube worked perfectly for the kids. Everyone had such a great time on the water! This was our second time renting a boat from State Park Marina, and both experiences have been amazing. We truly have no complaints. The staff is awesome and goes above and beyond to make sure families have a great experience. Highly recommend State Park Marina if you're looking for a fun day on the lake!
