This is a beautiful Park with plenty of space to camp in dispersed areas. We drove through the Park first just to scout what was around, then ended up going back to our fave spot to sleep for the night. As you can see from my picture, we chose a spot kind of up on the mountain to where we could wake with the sun. It got a bit chilly but not too bad at all. The hawks kept circling us to make sure we were okay, it was so cool and funny at the same time. We also saw some foxes scurrying around us. The animals were all so cute but kept their distance as we did too. You should definitely take a drive out here and enjoy the beautiful sites of nature!

    Highest point in Arkansas.

What a beautiful state park in the heart of Arkansas. Totally worth the 2.5 hour drive from Bentonville to see the highest point in Arkansas and take in the breathtaking views. There is a lodge built into the side of the mountain which offers more amazing views. At the park you can enjoy guided ATV rides, hang gliding, hiking, and biking.

Last summer, during our annual American road trip, we decided to include Arkansas on our journey across these great United States. Being a California native, who has done a lot of camping in the Golden state, camping in other parts of the country is a completely different experience. Mount Magazine (actually, most of Arkansas) is one of the greenest places I've ever been. Seemingly endless forests are broken up by the occasional rocky outcropping, small creek, or hiking path. The campsite here is no exception, with a backdrop of hardwood trees and ground cover. Restrooms are modern and clean. While hiking around the park, we were treated to songbirds singing, various bugs chirping and buzzing, rabbits, possums, armadillos, deer, box turtles, and even a few copperheads, so watch your step... their camouflage is outstanding amidst the leafy duff. A short drive around the park reveals several breathtaking overlooks, as this is touted as the highest point in the state. Cabins and a large lodge are available if trailers and tents aren't your thing. There is also a visitors center with a gift shop and firewood for sale. While here, we drove all over the state, visiting distant Bentonville and caverns across the state. Closer by, the city of Paris offers a few grocery stores and the smallest (and one of the oldest) Walmart stores I've ever seen. Many homes, businesses, and trucks fly the stars and bars, and there is even a street in town called Klan St... revealing the area's connection to its sordid history, and dichotomous present and future. We missed a real gun fight between warring neighbors at the gas station, and drove several gravel roads deep into the wilderness. Definitely not SoCal out here. All that said, what a beautiful state and a beautiful area, filled with some of the most friendly folks we've had the pleasure of meeting. Arkansas, I can't say when I'll be back, but future road trips will certainly see us there again.

Skycrest restaurant is beautiful but the staff are slow forgetful and when asked to fill out a paper for a private club license explain how "it's so dumb" Take pride in your job. Don't make excuses.

Mt Magazine State Park and Lodge sits upon the highest point in Arkansas. Hovering above Blue Mountain lake, the lodge rooms offer views that expanse the Boston Mountain ranges. You will not be disappointed here with miles of hiking trails and flower gardens, native birds and wildlife. The rooms are becoming slightly dated however as the lodge was built in 2008, just before smartphones really began to dictate what type of tech went into hotel rooms. You will fine one bank of chargers that may or may not be comparable with your phone. Speaking of tech, do not attempt to work as the WiFi is shaky at best. You won't be taking any zoom meetings here. Since you won't be working, take heart in the comfortable beds, mini fridge and large, clean rooms. :) Now let's talk about the Skycrest restaurant. Much improved since my last visit. Due to Covid, the buffet is GONE and should stay away! The whole buffet concept cheaped the experience and since it's removal, the feel is much classier! Food quality: good. Not bad. The first day I had a club sandwich that was well executed and sweet potato fries that were crispy and hot. It was tasty. The second day at lunch I had a BLT and the loaded baked potato soup. The sandwich, again, well executed, the bacon was crispy, the soup needed salt however. Day three we had breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was made to order my over easy eggs look very similar to my friends over medium eggs and the whole dish could use a little more seasoning. Day three breakfast I got the omelette with cheddar, bacon and tomatoes. My friend got the biscuit and gravy. The food again could use a little more seasoning but over all was well prepared and generous-portioned. Dinner was good. We ordered the spinach dip appetizer and it was very tasty, hot and bubbly with crispy bread that was freshly cut and toasted. For the entree we orders the grilled chicken tenders and I got mashed potatoes and gravy. Nothing to complain about here, the chicken was tender and juicy but the plates lacked presentation. Some lettuce lining the bottom if the plate or a sprig of parsley would go a long way to make the plate more attractive. The lodge has a full bar. They carry a line of local beers and can you get any cocktail. I ordered an shagreen cocktail first which made with Malibu rum and pineapple juice. It was good but did not pack a punch. Next I order a cosmopolitan and that was a good drink. Well executed and plenty strong. I have to say the best think about the red was the service. The staff went out of their way to make the visit pleasant. Preston, our dinner server was very sweet, polite and super prompt. James was our breakfast server and went out of his way to make sure the butter was not too cold after I made a fleeting comment about the hard butter on the first day. Andrew checked me in and was super helpful And offered me extra shampoo and towels. COVID note: all rules were followed. All the guests were required to wear masks in the lodge and the restaurant before food was served. There is no housekeeping during the stay but I actually preferred that. The TV has cable but no access to Netflix/ Hulu apps. (Needs updating). :). I can say the lodge is nice, the staff is helpful and with a few tweaks the restaurant could be really good. I recommend for families, couples and singles. Plenty of places to explore and see. It's a great choice for Parks in Arkansas.

I arrived late for a 1 night stopover and only had time for a quick takeout. The staff said they would have it ready in 10 min. I arrived to the bar 10 minutes later and not only was the food ready fast, it was incredible. I only wish I had time to dine in and take in the 5 star view, the entertaining staff and desert .. Given all of the challenges with Covid plus the fact these guys are isolated on Mt Magazine makes it even more remarkable. Thanks for having me!

Amazing park. If you plan to go hiking, start at the North Rim Trail and then loop through Signal Hill and Mossback Ridge to get all the best scenic views and to hit the highest point in Arkansas! Together they are about a 5-6 mile hike. These 3 trails are pretty flat and an easy hike for the most part. The whole place is just breathtaking. It's a must see! You might want to wear pants instead of shorts when hiking because the trails are narrowly carved through the woods. Check for ticks!

The highest peak in Arkansas is one beautiful place. It's a great getaway and perfect for sightseeing, hiking, camping, etc. The more adventurous one might be interested in rock climbing, hang gliding, ATV riding, biking, etc. Scenic trails are scattered all over the park. Reserve a camp ground or you can also put up in the lodge. The road up the mountain has beautiful overlooks that look down on the plains below. Best time to visit is Spring when the park really comes alive with nature's color. I'm going back again soon!

While you are slightly limited in the number of activities that you can partake in here, it is as good as it gets in Arkansas for those activities. A large part of the appeal is the spectacular view. Whether from the lodge, the trail, or the highway, spectacular views abound. If you're into hiking, there are easy to extremely strenuous hikes available, mostly through the woods, and all with those views that have already been mentioned. An added bonus comes in the choice of lodgings, camp out for more of an outdoors experience, or stay in the cabins or the lodge if you want a bit of luxury. Make the trip up this mountain. You won't regret it.

Very cool park! Stopped here while driving through the area. Great scenic overlooks. The visitors center was beautiful and the gentleman working was helpful. We went and did the hike up to the highest peak in Arkansas. Good stop

Lovely place to camp! One thing I really enjoy is that the temperature is cooler up here. Makes sleeping in a tent at night lovely.

Then we drove around a little and found parking areas at campsites close to the river so we could get other views. The ranger did tell us that we could get more places if we had 4WD. We stayed mostly in the middle and lower sections. I wish we'd gone at night for the night sky but wasn't aware of it at the time and needed to move on to our next destination. We will be back in the future to enjoy more of the river and the park.

And today, I'm writing this review solely based on the drive down to Triple (aka Twin) Falls. If you are not into a long hike (2 miles+ one way), then this is definitely the one for you. To see the waterfall, you'll only need to take a very short hike from the trailhead (although driving down there is very winding and steep so there is even a road sign that says, "Cool your brakes" on the way.) Going back to the hike part, if you want to go up to the top of the waterfall however, you'll need to hike another 0.25 miles from the bottom but it's definitely doable even if you absolutely hate to hike/walk! The exact date of the hike was today (Wednesday, April 20, 2022). It had been raining on and off all day so the trail was muddy. But in my opinion, the rain made the whole experience so mystic, mysterious, and very green with abundance of water spouting out from the top of it. The water was, surprisingly, not so muddy. We took the time to explore the area for at least an 1.5 hours. Interestingly, not a single soul came and went during the whole duration of our visit; we had the whole area to ourselves. The area was so picturesque. It's definitely a great place for a meditation to empty your mind. You'll also have so many spots to take beautiful pictures from so many different angles. I HIGHLY recommend this place for waterfall chasers!!

If you're coming to Natural Falls for barbecuing, picnicking, short hiking, lounging around and camping...then this park is for you. I was scrolling through Google Maps and discovered a photo that looked intriguing. It was a picture of a 77 foot plunging waterfall among a scenic backdrop known as Ozark Springs. This Ozark Springs waterfall is the #1 top highlight at the park. The rest of the activities (I believe) are side compliments. So...if you're passing through West Siloam Springs, it could be worthwhile to check out Ozark Springs, and it doesn't take long to do. The trails map says 45 minutes, but it can be finished in less. The walk to the falls is half a mile at the most. You can find Ozark Springs along the Dripping Springs Trail. There are two parts to capturing views. First is from an overlook point high above. After completing this lookout spot, then it's 47 steps down to the bottom. The base of Ozark Falls has a boardwalk pathway leading you in front of the waterfall. I was tempted to step off the boardwalk to avoid the hand railing when taking pictures, but that wasn't not allowed. Also unfortunately, they don't permit swimming in the pool that Ozark Falls splashes into. But the waters appeared refreshing. You can connect Dripping Springs Trail with Ghost Coon Trail to combine two hikes in one. Or otherwise you can return to the Dripping Springs Trailhead and either choose another pathway or hang out, have lunch and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There are a few other trails you can consider, but they're nothing dramatic. - Fox Den Trail - 1.5 miles to a "rock overhang and cavern area". - Bear Trail - hardly a hike but leads to Ozark Springs and intersects with Dripping Springs Trail. - Pine Ridge Trail - 3/4th's of a mile that navigates the perimeter of Natural Falls Park. It's $10 entrance fee for a day pass. You can pay at the Visitor Center. Plus inside the VC, you can purchase souvenirs from a small selection of items or buy snacks and drinks if you haven't arrived prepared. I noticed they have a lot of space for camping. Although I didn't spend a night here, the conditions for sleeping outdoors looked inviting. Btw...while walking along Ghost Coon Trail, I passed by these Yurts, or I'd describe them as huts accommodative for "glamping" or glorified camping. It's like upscale camping staying in tent - cabins. There may have been 5 - 6 yurts located beside the grass edge of the forest and pleasant looking for enjoying the great outdoors. Overall, Natural Falls State Park has a quiet setting and is fine for taking a few hours to breathe in fresh air, especially if you're in no hurry. Although I wanted more challenging hiking trails and activities to keep me occupied, I was okay with taking a lazy day to appreciate nature.
