We dined here on our first night in London before soon the half marathon for carb loading. The restaurant had in door and our sole dining. Service was good and got started taking our food and drink orders right away. The calamari was served hot and was very good. The garlic cheese bread was packed with gooey cheese and buttery garlic goodness. The bruschetta was a nice compliment to the hot appetizers. My spaghetti and meat balls were very good and I left happy. FYI they have spaghetti for two and it could feed 3. The food and the service are terrible. I don't know how these guys can call this Italian food. The meatballs were horrible. What kind of meat are they using? They were gross and a tiny portion of spaghetti came with them. Also, we asked our waiter for bread and he disappeared - we never got water either. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

A friend and I were wandering around after lecture and decided to try a new place for dinner. We came across Spaghetti House and took a look at the menu posted outside. We ended up coming back to it since other restaurants in the area didn't seem as appetizing, not to mention she's vegetarian, making finding a restaurant that suits her a bit difficult. We were greeted and seated rather quickly inside; there was no more room outside on the patio. While looking at the menu, I heard music outside and sure enough there was a small band playing on the patio! I went back in and after looking at the menu items, we decided to split an appetizer and a pasta dish. We ordered the Bruchetta al Pomodoro and Pesto Genovese. The bruchetta was fresh and we hungrily wolfed it down. The pasta came a few minutes later. I've never had Trofie pasta before, but it was prepared well (not over-cooked). The food was ok. The service was not great. The atmosphere was probably the best thing they had going here. But for 63 pounds I should have gone somewhere else. This really was a waste of our time. It took 10 minutes for someone to take our order. He was rude. Then when the food did come we were left alone for probably 30 minutes without being checked on. I was working on another yelp review when another sitter finally came and we asked for the check and he noticed and asked if everything was ok....too late for that...last he walked away at the point he l do check and gave me enough time to write this review and has been back yet. Blech! Yuck! My first experience at a Spaghetti House was my last. We arrived in the pouring rain, and asked for a table for two. The waiter wandered off assuming that we were behind him before we had managed to tuck our umbrellas away. When we turned around, he was gone. He did return for us eventually and gestured impatiently to follow him. Oookay. A little rude, but at least after that, the wait staff was relatively friendly. We ordered our drinks, and later ordered our food before the drinks arrived. I fancied something with meat in it, but the meat dishes seemed overly pricey and given that it was my first time there, I went for the old pesto standby. Our food and drinks managed to come at about the same time. Boo. The food itself...uh. I didn't like it. My pasta was tough, the pesto seemed old and processed and not at all fresh. The grated cheese was likely straight out of a can. While the portions were plentiful, what was the point? The food was simply not good. We kept making eye contact with the waiter to get his attention for the bill, but he seemed to be intentionally avoiding us. We nearly tackled him down, finally paid and headed out. Does what it says on the tin. If you're craving a hearty, comforting bowl of spaghetti bolognese, then head here. It's become a tradition for me and one of my friends from work to head here for an indulgent, long lunch and we always order the same thing: spag bol for me, a simple pecorino and pepper spaghetti for her, plus a side salad and garlic bread to share and - if we're feeling really indulgent - a glass of red each. Service is quick and snappy and our food is always served hot. Atmosphere is meh, but we're not there to take in the exposed brick, but to focus on catching up on each others' lives. After seeing a show at the Globe Theater, a friend and I were ravenous, having not eaten dinner beforehand, and Spaghetti House was luckily open until 11 and could accommodate us. My friend had been eager to try this place for a while, so we were excited to finally go. We both ordered the 2-dish special, which comes with an appetizer and a meal for £15. I got the pumpkin soup and the potato gnocchi with cashews, and both were superb. I paired the two with a Merlot, which was sweet and light. The pumpkin soup was less creamy than I had imagined, but still enjoyable. I left with leftovers for lunch the next day and a full stomach. I would love to come back and try the risotto! read more

Great choice for a family lunch. Food was good, service was prompt and attentive. Flavors were good. Advertised house made lemonade but brought San pelligrino. Prices were not too bad. Salmon salad was under seasoned but otherwise a nice combination. I would go back as a family again. read more

If you are craving Spaghetti and you are in central Londres then this may be the place for you. It is a part of a chain around London, but I like this one because it is pretty tiny, gets really crammed and rowdy, and also has nice outdoor seating areas for rare good weather days! So bring them on and head to the Spaghetti House. The all-Italian staff are very friendly and boisterous, as would be expected, and welcome you with open arms. I always go for bolognese here because I just can't get over it. And if you fancy some wine they have a good selection for those on a budget, and a few for those not on a budget. The food is good, staple pasta, nothing frilly, but when you are really hungry (and as I mentioned craving spaghetti) this place will more than suffice. Am sorry to say that I would not recommend this restaurant (although initial it had been recommended to me). I went following a night at the theatre and wanted quicky, relatively reasonable priced food. What I got was not very good customer service, the gentleman who showed us to our table mubbled everything and we constantly had to ask him to repeat what he said or we just guessed it. Service was very slow and we had to wait quite lengthy periods of time between ordering and being served drinks and food. Food was very average. Our 'Pane rustico e aceto balsamico' or rustic bread and balsamic vinegar arrived stone cold, rock hard and very salty and my calamari was overcooked and very chewing. This is my first yelp review and I am going out of my way to let the public know about, spaghetti house. This is basically a PSA. First of all, my friend and I were excited to try this place. We were greeted in a rude and off putting way where we were just confused. Then given arguably the WORST table in the place, then our server gave off a mocking attitude and once again left us beyond confused at the interaction that just took place. The food was good- got the carbonara. But got garlic bread(2 pieces of ciabatta bread cut in half for £4)... The price at the end of the meal was shocking that for 2 meals it was almost £50. The food came out suspiciously fast- approx 5 min. The whole experience did not feel worthy of £50 is what I'm trying to get at. Get a can of ragu and some noodles for 80p and you will be better off. read more

Nice Italian place we happened upon our first night in London. We were surprised at how busy the place was at 7pm on a Friday. They managed to find us a table and we looked at the menu. It took a long time to get service but once we did everything was good. We had kids spaghetti (£5), half chicken (£11.50 for 2 courses) and chicken with asparagus & mashed. I was close to the Sicilian avenue and ate there yesterday and I can't say I'll come back. With the consequent number of Italian restaurant in London, there's no reason whatsoever to stop in this one save starving enough to not being able to get out of the Sicilian Avenue. The Italian atmosphere is simply nowhere to be seen without that much to look at and only a few italian songs, the same one can hear in any Italian to remind us we are in an Italian restaurant. The waitress just showed us a table and threw the menu on it. Italian restaurant are not usually reputed for there hospitality but one should always expect a proper service when eating out. It was a busy saturday but there were enough waiters around to cope with it so no reason for the rush. And after a while, we were finally served. I basically put two stars because my sea food risotto wasn't that bad. The rice was undercooked but beside that, flavours were present. However my girlfriend's pasta were also undercooked and the plate was quite small considering the price and the relative simplicity of the food. The rest of the menu was without any surprise. Mind you, you can have a main course and a drink for 2 for less than £30 so no harms done but a lot of Italian restaurant in London have much better quality/prices. Spaghetti Houses are as common in London as Starbucks is in the US. There is literally one every few blocks in London. Because of their alarming frequency, I was expecting a generic chain Italian food place. But fortunately I was very mistaken. My girl friends and I went to the location on Sicilian Avenue near Bloomsbury Gardens. It was a lovely location and the food was equally as good. We all got house wines, which were very tasty. We started of with the calamari, which was very good. Perfectly fried and served with a tarter sauce rather than the normal cocktail sauce. For our entrees I got the Puttenesca and my friends got the Margarita pizza and the clam linguini. Of course we all sampled each others' entrees and enjoyed them all. The portions were perfect, not overwhelmingly large like most American chains. For dessert we shared the apple tart, which was subtly sweet and served with a sweet milky sauce. We stayed at the restaurant for a while enjoying our second glass of wine while the rain fell softly outside but we stayed nice in dry in the covered patio. It was delightful. I will definitely be back to Spaghetti House, maybe trying a different location. Only I doubt that I will be able to find one as beautiful as the Sicilian Avenue one. read more

Whenever my husband and I are staying in Bloomsbury we always go to the Spaghetti House for dinner and have never been disappointed by the food or the service which is always friendly and efficient. I have used Spaghetti House twice for student group meals, and we have been impressed with the food and service on both occasions. I hope to continue using this venue, as it offers excellent value for money, and it is clear that the managers are invested in quality. Nadia and Rocco were extremely helpful and flexible with respect to making the initial booking, and adjusting it where necessary. The food is also fantastic - the (gluten free) spaghetti carbonara is my favourite dish. The desserts are particularly delightful as well! Lastly, the setting can't be beat. I recently hosted a group dinner of 40 guests here, during the holiday season. The manager was extremely, kind, patient, and helpful - and even brought in his best chef who was supposed to be off that night, to cook for us - making the evening delicious and problem free. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary last Thursday with an exceptional meal which brought happy memories flooding back of many, many visits to both Sicilian Avenue and Vecchia Milano off Cavendish Square. We were very well looked after, saltimbocca a la romana was as good as ever and the tiramisu still to die for! (We persuaded the maitre d' on one occasion to let us purchase a whole tray of this delectable dessert and take it home!) If I could give less than one star I would. I never tasted the food because the service was so terrible I walked out after waiting over 5 minutes to be seated and then ignored for another 10 minutes after being seated. We had a party of 3 and looking for a decent meal near our hotel. Checked reviews and the place looked to be OK. After waiting patiently, we politely asked for some water and a drink order. The arrogant waiter told us we were the last seated and we would need to wait and should be patient in a condescending tone. This was unacceptable and we then proceeded to get up and walked out of the restaurant. The rude waiter gave us a "who cares" attitude and we promptly left. On the way out, it appeared other potential customers were also tired of waiting and we told them it wasn't worth the wait. They also left behind us. If this is a typical business practice of this restaurant, I have no idea how they stay in business. Avoid - there are lots of other options in this part of London. read more

My first visit with a friend as we found this friendly Italian run restaurant walking around and as we were ready to eat thought we would give it a go. We were originally sat near the window which I found drafty so we were moved to a corner table which a comfy seat. We ordered a red house wine an Italian Merlot which was very very good. We settled for just a main meal each I had the veal with sautéed potatoes and my friend ordered the saltin bocca which is pork medalian with Parma ham and cheese and we ordered 2 extra sides batons of courgettes with a light batter and broccoli spears in chilli and garlic all very well cooked and tasty. I travel to Italy often and my mother was Italian so know a thing or two about Italian food. I would definitely return to this restaurant again.
