My first time stopping in tothe Spanish inn. When I was seated I was waited on promptly by server amber. I ordered the vegetarian tacos and an unsweetened ice tea. The food tasted good and was very flavorful. Server amber was warm, welcoming and very attentive. The restaurant itself looked very clean, including the floor and bathrooms. Mine and my hubs' fav restaurant EVER!! We have both been eating here since we were children so not only is the food great but the comforting memories are there too! Since we no longer live in the area, we get very excited whenever we get the opportunity to eat there! I always get Green Beef Enchiladas and he gets Cheese Enchiladas with Chili and Beef Tacos. Was in town visiting family and they swear this is the best Mexican place around. As soon as I saw the menu I knew this was one notch above Taco Bell. It's offers traditional Gringo fare smothered in cheese. The chips and salsa were good but they weren't very generous with it. Ordered the fajitas with refried beans and corn tortillas. Inquired about charro beans and Coca Mexicana but the waiter gruffly replied they weren't available. The rest of the family ordered the Green Beef Enchiladas. The food came quickly. My fajitas were decent and the onions and peppers had a nice char. I guess corn tortillas weren't an option that day as I received flour and they were of course tasted store bought. My family's enchiladas were covered in cheese and they mentioned their rellenos were cold. Service was slow and inattentive. Going to the restroom felt like I was entering the catacombs. Stopped in with my wife, 2 of our kids and 3 of our young grandchildren. The hostess was friendly and seated us all at a large table immediately. Our waitress was prompt in passing out the menu's and taking our drink orders. She was great at helping everyone with their questions and taking our orders. The food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. The huevos rancheros were excellent. The bacon was crispy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The salsa tasted great and had a nice bite. The cheese enchiladas were as good as any we have ever eaten. Their french fries are home made and the children loved them. The only reason this place got two stars was for the service. Went at lunch and ordered the lunch special which consisted of a chile relleno, beef enchilada and a guacamole chalupa. The "beef" was fatty ground meat with absolutely no seasoning. No cumin, no chili powder, garlic, black pepper... nothing. The cheese used was not inside the enchilada or relleno, but was poured on top of the dish and had a very thin consistency amounting to watered down Velveeta. If this is what passes for Texmex in Big Spring, I'll pass and go to Taco Villa which is gourmet compared to this place. read more

We went to Carlos's and I tried getting chicken tacos and the waitress said they do not use white meat in their tacos, I asked if it could be substituted with white meat (was told NO by the waitress very snaughty about it) .....
