I am a teacher and wanted my baby to be in a loving environment where she could would flourish... and I hoped bilingualism would be a part of that. She's been at EBP for over six months now, and we are thrilled that she has gotten everything we wanted out of daycare. The infant rooms, connected by an open bathroom, are reasonably sized (compared to the other small daycares I visited) and have fun, colorful environments. The teachers love what they do and are eager to report on my baby's daily behavior, eating habits, and accomplishments. I LOVE that they cook everything in-house, even the baby food, and they provide whatever formula you specify as part of the tuition.. what other daycare does that??? They are a non-profit, and as such you may not find the same fanciness that would be at daycares that charge double the tuition, but they have a close-knit community and the director is always warm and friendly every time I see her - which is nearly every day.

The teachers have been so caring and capable, the admins so approachable and amazing, and the classrooms so organized and welcoming. Some of the families we've met over the years have become our lifelong friends. A few of my favorite Escuelita memories are: -Dropping off my daughters with messy hair I didn't have time to fix, and picking them up with the most intricate and beautiful braids you've ever seen. - Visiting a Valentine's Day party one year and witnessing the absolute organization and calm during the sharing of Valentines, while one 3-year-old at a time walked around the circle and handed a Valentine to each child's open bag, and the kids sat patiently waiting for their bags to be filled. - Picking my eldest up from her 2-year-old room and her teacher announcing to me that she was now potty trained. (I took no part in this potty training!) - Driving past Escuelita with my older daughters and hearing them reminisce about the tomato soup and grilled cheeses. - Halloween carnivals and Easter egg hunts. - Walking in at pickup to find my daughters singing and dancing along to Mr. Jaime's guitar. We have been so fortunate to spend my daughters' early years at this wonderful school. I have always had peace of mind knowing they were cared for and loved at Escuelita. And now that they have purchased a new location due to the expansion of i35, they will certainly be around for many years to come, and my girls and I can dream about their future children going there :)

Actually one of the reasons I kept him there even after moving further away is because of the great relationship he has with all of the teachers. I have made it a point of asking him from time to time is the teachers are mean and his reply is that they are nice and his best friends. Almost every day I have a hard time getting him to leave because he wants to stay at school longer. The teachers are friendly, sweet and loving toward all of the children. It is unfair to characterize them as a "nasty group of women." Being by a gas station doesn't take away from the fresh and mostly organic food that is served every day. Anon Y gives the impression that she doesn't play a role in helping her child learn. My son knew his alphabet, numbers to 10 and the primary colors and shapes by the age of 18 months. That was also due to us practicing at home, which you need to do no matter what school a child is in. My child is three and speaks in complete sentences and is beginning to come up with his own made up stories. He knows his planets and beginning to do math. I urge you to decide for yourself if Eco Kids has the positive environment to help your child learn and develop into a confident child.

They discourage parents from visiting their children during the day to the point that they LOCK THE DOORS to all parents during certain hours. If you plan on breastfeeding, know that the breastfeeding room is also the employee break/nap room and smells like old curry and arm pits. The infant teachers and director have very low communication and problem solving skills. The daily infant sheets are optional and rarely filled out completely. The "healthy and organic food" they rave about is actually chicken nuggets and french fries but you really wouldn't know what they are feeding your child because they will write "food" on the daily sheet rather then specifics. Don't dare inquire about anything, have any concerns, or worry about your child because the director will smile in your face, tell you they solved the issues and do absolutely nothing to help you. I encourage parents to review schools first by looking at DFPS before sending your kids. There is a reason that ECO-KIDS has so many violations and that many of those are for not having a "qualified director." The place lacks management. I gave 2 stars because the place is VERY clean and some of the older ladies that work there are really very sweet even though they are often overwhelmed.

When I open his lunchbox, I am always surprised to find a new object or new type of dirt in there. To me, that variety signals a variety in experience and a freedom to explore. His Spanish skills have blossomed since joining the school, he does some pretty advanced yoga moves, and he is now an expert on olive trees (due to his recent presentation on the topic!) One year later, we know we made the right decision and feel lucky to have been part of such an amazing school. Lila and her staff approach early childhood education from an emotional intelligence standpoint that aligns with our attitudes and understanding of how every child deserves to be treated. This approach fosters creativity and autonomy in children, while also supporting their budding relationships with both people and nature. The classroom education at Los Amiguitos is only used to enhance what is learned in the outdoor classroom. Our son, who has a natural need to move while learning, was able to remain in-tune with what his body was feeling and to not suppress it in order to follow arbitrary classroom etiquette. We also believe this improved his ability to recognize and communicate his own boundaries while interacting with classmates and teachers. Childhood safety was addressed early and maintained throughout the year. This was very important for us. Not surprisingly, the community that gravitates towards Los Amiguitos is full of like-minded parents, who value the same pedagogical preferences for their children. After 15 years in Austin, we made more friends in the one year that our son was at Los Amiguitos than we did the 14 years previous . We credit this to the fact that, not only did the school attract like-minded parents, but it also provided activities that gave us the opportunity to meet and interact with the school's families inside and outside of the classroom. The highlight activity of the year for us was a campout trip that most of the school took. We did nature walks, campfire sing-alongs, potluck cookouts, and star gazing. We found that the children mostly spoke English to each other at school, but every child-teacher interaction takes place in Spanish. This means that, although Spanish production isn't the primary emphasis of the school, Spanish intake and comprehension remained consistent, which enables our son to converse more or less naturally when spoken to in Spanish. Seeing our child flourish in nature while building up his social skills, especially after coming out of isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, was exactly what we needed and we found it in Lila's school. We are very grateful to her and to the wonderful teachers -- Natalia, Gabriela, Andrea. We highly recommend Los Amiguitos to parents looking for an excellent nature-based, Spanish immersion school for their children.

LCCP has safe pick up and drop off procedures, daily chapel with singing and fun teaching, and a fantastic playground. And the curriculum has well prepared our five year old for kindergarten - she has good handwriting for her age, is reading simple words, and has learned how to contribute in a classroom setting. The facilities are a little dated, but the sweet environment and quality staff more than make up for it.
