Spankys is probably one of my favorite places to eat so when they were opening the Spankys in Pasadena closer to home it was good news! Unfortunately, I've been continually disappointed between the wrong orders being placed, the hair in my food, and the extremely slow service. If you plan on visiting Spankys i suggest make the drive to Gulfgate and you won't be disappointed. Go to the Pasadena location and you'll regret it. read more

Great food, but the worst service. Went there Monday evening at 7. Waitress took our order, brought drinks, then pretty much disappeared. Took over an hour to get 2 personal pizzas. All the while watching food come out of the kitchen. They comped the pizzas due to the extreme wait. read more

In town on vacation. Family recommended this place for lunch. Spanky's? I had my doubts. But, very pleased to say this is a fun place, great beer and margaritas and really good pizza. I got the Special pizza: several meats, mushrooms, peppers and onions. The peppers dominated the flavor and that was a very good thing. Took me back to the deep dish flavor profile of my youth. I love Spanky's Pizza! The original location was great, so I was very excited to try out the new location in Pasadena. The Pasadena location did not disappoint! The pizza was delicious. Very flavorful with just the right amount of ingredients. The New York style crust was perfectly done. I would go back here for pizza any day of the week. I also love the pasta! The service was also beyond great. From the moment I entered until the time that I left, I felt as if I were a regular. Despite being crowded, I never ran low on my drink and I was always checked on. It's been a minute but y'all know the drill. We always start with liquor. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy a brew or any spirits because this was a to-go. So my apologies, but next time? I have no business in Pasadena, but work ran late .. got a Airbnb .. my better half wanted pizza. Yelp guided me here. First and foremost, Jonathan was very eager to help and highly intuitive about which pizza would fit the preference I explained best. As a new customer that adores an immaculate slice, this guy added a star. (And comped me for basil which is appreciated) The pizza came out in 10 minutes. I took a few bites while it was fresh and hot to grasp the situation at hand, at first it was amazing. The sauce was more so on the marinara side but the other ingredients did a pretty good job of masking that. Then I got back to my Airbnb and re-warmed .. completely different experience. All the toppings and cheese ran to the very bottom of the pizza. Doesn't re-heat well. But in the restaurant would possibly be pleasurable for a pizza craving that's close. We were visiting and our family brought us to Spanky's! Atmosphere a plus but I have to give separate 10 stars to our waitress! She was the best we ordered 3 pizzas and they were excellent! I went to pick up an order and when I was walking up to the register to pay the girl at the cash register totally ignored me and walked to the back to talk with her co workers. We went twice and wont be back. The pasta dishes like Chicken Parmegian are so flavorless its like eating salty cardboard. The pizza was the best the menu has to offer in my opinion. The place has no sound absorbents of any sort and even when not completely full its very loud, to the point of when we went the 2nd time it was full, we waited but it was so loud several family members decided to leave before finishing their food. I was a huge fan of the original Spankys further out on spencer, life was good when it was opened. To bad this one is so far off that mark. The furniture is painful to sit on, the wait staff were overworked and looked frazzled. Once the newness wears off I hope they will address the sound situation otherwise I doubt they will stay in business. We might try take out pizza, but we wont be dining in again. read more

Terrific pizza restaurant that offers thin and thick crust. Is a little on the pricey side but worth it and is quite the treat. My only complaint would be that the sausage could be a bit better quality. But this now takes the cake as best pizza I have had in Houston. Good sauce, good crust and they use a lot of cheese. Amazing experience! We are traveling and both my husband and I have dietary limitations. All of the staff was extremely willing and eager to make sure we were taken care of. The chef even visited our table to make some suggestions to make our meal the best it could be. As much as I love Spanky's pizza, I doubt I will return anytime soon. The place was hardly filled on a Sunday afternoon, but the service proved otherwise. They also have a manager who doesn't seem to have a liking for people nor does she know how to handle inopportune situations with tact and kindness. Her name is Dolores, goes by DD. We went for a nice Sunday fun day and were looking to unwind with friends and family. When we questioned them running out of wine ( after only 1 glass) she didn't seem too interested in accommodating us. Not to mention, she did what no manager should ever be caught doing in public, criticizing the clients, making gestures and talking bad about them to other employees in the presence of guests. I went with my boyfriend on Sunday 5/26/19. We entered the restaurant and asked to be seated at 9:40pm. The host ( an older man with a heavy accent) told us that he wasn't seating ANYONE because it was 20 minutes before closing and that he was only letting people "take-out." We understood and left. I went back on Wednesday 5/29/19 at 8:40 pm and everything was fine when we left it 9:58pm and they were letting people dine-in still. Even though the food is great the customer service on the other hand was horrible. On top of waiting to be helped out and receive my order. You had an employee be on their phone for about 10 minutes and didn't even stop to acknowledge if I've been helped out yet she just walked away while the other employee was on the phone taking orders. I was so bothered by the fact that I wasn't being noticed that I didn't even want to give you my service, but I tried to stay patient due to the fact my children were hungry and love the pizza here. With still no question about me waiting the employee was on her phone once again, and as I stood there waiting for my food she decided to pick up the work phone which wasn't ringing at the moment I'm guessing someone was on hold? First time at this location. This one has more space. We ordered a medium pizza: sausage and pepperoni. I usually don't like sausage and only eat pepperoni but the sausage is great! I got the mango daiquiri swirl...so strong and good. He got the long island iced tea and it was strong too and good...not overpowered by soda. Erica was our waitress and she was awesome! Please don't waste your time at the new Spanky's. This is only their second week open, and they are already buckling under the pressure. The fried pickles that somehow made it out of the kitchen were soggy and pasty white. To call them "fried" would be a gross understatement. The biggest problem with this establishment would probably be the management. While I have yet to manage a restaurant, I do know something about customer service, and I am appalled by what this manager considers "good customer service". If a customer asks for drinks to be remade, do not stomp over to the table and demand who sent drinks back. When your "recipe" causes BOTH drinks to taste like ice and alcohol, don't just assert the remade drink will taste exactly the same. The only saving grace is the friendly wait staff. read more

Literally the most awesome place to go in Pasadena. Every time I have gone the servers are always polite, attentive and fast! This was surprisingly very good. My husband want s to come here for nostalgic reasons. He use to work at Spanky's back in 1980 in Deer Park Texas. We had the frozen top shelf margarita, the glasses were ice cold. Appetizer was 1/2 cheese sticks and 1/2 mushrooms . Main course was a deep dish super duper. All was very delicious. After eating here I don't get all the raving reviews for this pizza. Our pizza was very bland and tasted like cardboard. We ordered the cheese pizza and the meats pizza both thin crust. Each were underwhelming and I'm pretty sure next time I could spend less and heat up a DiGionoro pizza. I also ordered a side Caesar salad or at least that's what I was told it was because the taste was nowhere near what a Caesar salad should taste like. When I got home I started with the wings, and it just so happened, the first one I picked up had a few feathers still on it. How gross! Don't waste your time coming here, the hosts don't know what they're doing half the time & the managers are even worse. I called to make a reservation as we always do for my brothers birthday for 17 people, the lady in the morning said we would just have to call 30 min before we get there to have our table ready. So we called before we headed over & the night shift said we could not make that request via phone call that we had to come in. We walked in & waited for over 45 minutes, once we passed the 1 hour mark we asked what the hold up was. Family's of 6,7 & 8 were walking in and getting seated within our 1 hour wait as if nothing. The manager came out with an attitude and asked "what's the problem" and refused to seat us. (Which is exactly why we called not once, but TWICE for a heads up so they could accommodate us?!) We provided options and different table arrangement ideas so we could be served and she still refused to seat us. I expressed my frustrations to the manager because this was not right, we had a birthday to celebrate and they refused to assist. PLEASE mind you, the restaurant was half empty and there was an empty room with a table long enough for 17. After a 10 minute conversation that was going NO WHERE with the managers we decided there was no hope and came to the conclusion it was better to leave than stay and not even be seated. HOW DO YOU LET A PARTY OF 17 out of your hands???????????????? Horrible horrible service. A yearly birthday tradition has now been broken. Never going back there again. read more

This 1 star rating is not for the food, but for the service! It took over an hour for us to get our food, and one person in our group had to ask for hers to go because it was taking so long. Been going to the original Spank's near Telephone for years. I have been looking for day's fir this place to open up the new Spanky's on Spencer. With that said, I ordered a Bloody Mary; too salty and no flavor. The lasagna I ordered was over cooked/burn. Waitress disappeared for a long time so I had to call the manager.
