Principal Peter came out to advise on our 16 unit condo building's electrical. On a Sunday. He arrived two minutes into the window they gave. At no charge. And he suggested we don't need to do any work at this time. This confirmed one other electrician's recommendation but not the original one, who said we'd need to pay hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, to even properly *diagnose* the problem. Simply the best in the electric business, and truly any business for that matter. In fact, I've never felt so compelled to write a Yelp review than after my experience with Spark Masters. Peter, Aryan, and the entire team are by far the kindest and most professional people I've ever had the pleasure of hiring -- ever. Shortly after moving into into our new home in November 2020, we began routinely tripping our old circuit breaker by running more than one kitchen appliance at once. We reached out to several electricians via Yelp, including Spark Masters. Peter quickly made himself available for an in-home, Covid-friendly consultation. It was evident from almost the moment he arrived that we had found the right person for the job -- so much so that we cancelled two other pending estimates. Peter took an incredible amount of time to walk through every corner of the house and explain everything that needed to be done. He provided an honest assessment of our old wiring situation, while suggesting the least intrusive means of gaining access behind our walls. It soon became clear that it would make the most sense to proceed with a whole house re-wire. This included a new/relocated 200 amp panel and replacement of the sub-panel in the garage. We also decided to install 25 recessed lights (more than half of them in new locations), along with replacing every single switch, plug, light fixture and ceiling fan throughout. We also had Ring cameras installed and replaced all exterior lighting with new dusk to dawn sensor equipped fixtures, along with a couple of new outdoor outlets. There was simply no better time to have made all of these upgrades than when everything was opened up and accessible. Re-wiring the entire house with a family living inside is a challenge, but we had no choice given the length of the project. Peter and Aryan, along with their entire team made this the most comfortable experience it could possibly be under the circumstances. They took great care in covering/protecting our hardwood floors from day one. They moved furniture back into place at the end of their work each day, and vacuumed every room thoroughly. They always double checked with us before leaving that everything was where it needed to be to ensure that we were completely happy and comfortable. I observed much of the job while working from home and Spark Masters never cut corners or sacrificed quality -- even when it added extra time. This was especially true when the re-wiring of our two story addition was severely slowed by the lack of a crawl space. Spark Masters also used the correct gauge wiring on everything and always stapled it into place. They always thought out-of-the-box and ran the wires in the most efficient manner so as to reduce the amount of drywall cuts. Also very impressive is the fact that they map out an entire floor plan of your home to ensure everything is properly planned out and executed. They consulted with me for even the slightest deviation from the original plan, such as a better plug, switch or recessed light location, and even when an alternate main panel location was found to make better sense. More often than not, I was the one suggesting changes to various things mid-stream, and Spark Masters was always extremely flexible and accommodating. Another huge factor for me when hiring people is trust, and Spark Masters quickly earned it. I'm normally anxious leaving even briefly while a crew of workers has access to my home and all of its contents. However, very early on it became abundantly clear that everyone working for Spark Masters is of the highest level of integrity. On days where I had to physically go into work, I had zero concerns leaving a key and allowing the entire crew to work inside. You are truly dealing the highest caliber and most honest people you'll ever find, and they exhibit these traits in everything they do. There is so much more that I can say, but it has been an absolute pleasure working with Spark Masters. You will not find a kinder, more ethical, fair, honest and professional company out there for any trade. On top of all this, you get quality, attention to detail, and a level of communication that is second to none. With all this you'd think you would be paying a premium, but Spark Masters is quite reasonable and competitive in price. We just passed our inspection this morning and my family will only be using Spark Masters for any of our electrical needs in the future. Peter is the best electrician I've dealt with, and exactly what I would want from an electrician. Because electrical work involves safety and can be expensive (ex. knocking holes in walls), I want my electrician to be knowledgeable & careful as well as honest. Peter has these attributes in spades. He's a wealth of knowledge. I've dealt with many electricians, and he's easily the most technical and knowledgeable. Whereas others seem to just have enough superficial knowledge to make money and sell you high-margin services, Peter seems to have the deep knowledge that comes from being intellectually curious and from genuinely caring about your work. He also carefully inspects everything, whereas most electricians I've dealt with merely glance (maybe because they already know what they want to sell you, so why bother inspecting?). He actually takes the time to open up outlets, test, shine a flashlight, etc. I really appreciate these attributes because electricity can be scary! Yet Peter's knowledge, expertise, and carefulness makes me comfortable with him working on my electrical system. What I also really appreciate is how impressively honest and straightforward Peter was. Peter actually took the time to listen to my goals and situation, and in fact urged me to be *cautious* about doing a full re-wire, because it might not make sense if we are selling in the next few years. He even said that before I take action (action that would earn him a lot of money!), I should talk to a realtor to make sure it made financial sense. Contrast that to other contractors, who were not only all too happy to encourage a full re-wire / re-plumb, even if it was against my interests, but then tried to *upsell* me to do even *more*! With other contractors, I feel like they have their agenda, which is to get as big a contract as possible, and nothing I say about my goals and situation will budge them from that agenda. With Peter, it actually feels like he *listens*, and then brings his prodigious knowledge to bear to figure out what would be the best solution for *you*. We are renovating an area of our home into an office space and needed an electrician to install lighting, multiple outlets, and hang a new chandelier from an angled ceiling. I had an absolutely amazing experience working with Spark Masters. I had them install some extra plugs inside and outside my house as my initial project. Peter and Aryan were very responsive throughout the project and even helped me fix some electrical issues that were not part of the project. I had such a great experience I ended up having them install recessed lights throughout my commercial property and added outdoor lighting. They estimated the project would take two weeks, they got it done within one week. They stayed late everyday to make sure everything was done properly. This is an update to 1/7/2019 review. I have had several phone conversations with the owner of Spark Masters. During our last phone conversation he indicated that he could call the Police or get an attorney because my honest review was hurting his business. I am not the kind of guy that you want to make threats to and it really pissed me off. So here is the update... I have already told you Spark Masters does not carry General Liability insurance. This protects any potential customer from any liability caused by the contractor. It is not mandated by the state of California but most legitimate business carry it or have the common decency to tell you that they don't. Spark Masters DOES NOT carry General Liability insurance. This is the TRUTH. Spark Masters also does not carry Workers Compensation insurance on its five employees since 2016, Gloria, Eric, Jose, Alex and Marco. All one needs to do is to look at the 30 reviews on Yelp starting 4/10/2016 with the review of Alex. It is REQUIRED by California state law that all contractors carry Workers Compensation for their employees. All one needs to do to confirm this is log on to California Contractor License Look Up, type in Spark Masters C-10 electrical license number, go to Workers Compensation tab, click on to expand and you will see that since 2016 the owner of Spark Masters has certified that he has NO EMPLOYEES. Spark Masters DOES NOT carry Workers Compensation insurance. This is the TRUTH. Now because Spark Masters has deceived and threatened me, I have filed a 23 page compliant with California Contractors License Board in Norwalk, CA. This was sent by certified mail today. As I stated in my initial review, BE VERY CAREFUL when dealing with this "company". This is the TRUTH too. Spark Masters is the best. I couldn't recommend them more. Great work, prices and completely trustworthy. We had them come out to switch out some regular slight switches to decorative ones. Not a huge job from what they're used to but they were out the next morning. We set an arrival window for 10:00 AM until noon, they were literally here at 10:02 AM. They stayed at the hourly estimate for the work they gave me over the phone, which was lower than the other three electricians I had called the day before. They ran a little under an hour and a half, which was good time for what we expected. Most electricians would charge for two hours they asked for less than what the prorated cost would be. I slipped an extra $10 in to get it to a proper amount, when I came home later that day they had realized I had paid more than what they asked and put it in my mailbox. read more
