So Electrician Gary came out, put a new plate on the front, added a water proof cover (my new sump pump was plugged into it) and wrapped it up!!! Gary was fantastic, and super knowledgeable. He replaced the old plate in a timely fashion. I asked him how much do I owe you? He said $150, just like Robert had quoted me on the phone. I needed a Ring Outdoor security camera connected to an existing electric box about 15-20 ft from the electric box. This is on me for not asking what their hourly charge was and the cost of materials. This simple installation took the technician about 1 hour and 20 min and they charged me $730 and when I balked at the cost they said it's usually a $ 900 job and I was getting a deal. I'm 63 and have hired many many contractors in my life and this charge seemed really ridiculosly high --so I asked chat gpt to act in the role of an electrician , described the job in great detail and how long it would take, and asked for a price quote. Chat gpt said a reasonable price given the nature of the job was $200-300. If complications arose like the electric box needed upgrading it could raise the price as high as $300-400. One thing I hate is when contractors think women are stupid and can take advantage of them. In this case I'm more mad at myself for not hiring one of the 7 other electricians that gave me quotes in that 300-400 price range. I went with this company because they had such good reviews but I will never ever use them again. I hope it was worth it to them because I was looking for an electrician to add as my regular electrician. I'm not sure if it was an off day since they have such great reviews but we did not have a good experience with these electricians. We scheduled a diagnostic for $130 to come between 10 AM and 1 PM and they didn't come until 4 PM. The electrician they sent didn't speak any English so my husband had to keep getting on the phone to communicate. They were able to fix a loose socket, and tell us we needed new lights but they told us it would $530 to replace 4 lights. We bought them at Home Depot for $65 and replaced them ourselves. And the electrician left random parts around our house. I definitely do not recommend since they were messy, did not come on time and the price seemed unreasonably high. I have never been more surprised by a Yelp score in over 16 years of yelping. read more

Felt i was seriously overcharged for a simple job. I had a porch light that was shorting whenever i flipped the switch. The electrician came by and started tracing the electrical. He told me he had trouble tracing the wire and gave me a long story that he may need to pull out the ceiling fan in the living room and another ceiling light over the kitchenette. He even said they would need to break drywall in order to fix this problem. They painted a very disturbing picture of what the work may entail and quoted me $930. Not being a professional electrician, I didn't know any better so I agreed. I stayed and watched the electrician at work. He pulled about 10 feet of new wiring from the switch to the porch light in under an hour and charged me $960 for something that other electricians said was a $350 job.
