It was my first time at UG; however, she goes regularly and swears by the "world's softest socks" they sell (I forget the brand.) It's two stories, and well curated, with very well-organized displays. Ulysses Grant White founded this store as the U.G. White Hardware and Implement Company in 1917 - Wow! That's been a minute! Displays boast a variety of candies and sweets; fresh coffee; a small selection of items from 1818 Farms (sister's favorite lip gloss, beautiful kitchen towels, botanical wax sachets); jams, salsas, relishes, and fruit butters; candles; Lodge cast iron cookware; Case knives; old fashioned children's toys; clothing (socks, SPF hats, shirts); mugs and more! We enjoyed the covered front patio area and spent a good while chatting there!

My adult son is immuno-compromised, and as such he wears a mask everywhere he goes. His partner also wears one so they don't get sick and give it to him. When we got into the store we split up. Unknown to me at the time time, the store staff was overheard talking about them saying things like ... you don't wear a mask because you're smart." They were also treated so poorly being stared at like they were subhumans. I wish I had known it at that time or I would have left without making my purchase. I noticed the typically friendly staff wasn't making eye contact or being friendly with me as they had done in the past. Even the kid at the register was being combative when I corrected him that the price on the bag was cheaper than what it rang up as. I calmly and politely explained to him that it's illegal to charge someone a higher price than what it's marked, and when he argued with me I told him that they should fix it immediately because they could get sued for that. A manager lady came over and fixed it (an older lady with white hair.) By that time my son and partner had already left the store because they were shunned and made to feel uncomfortable. This was Saturday, August 19th in the early afternoon. I'm leaving this review because I genuinely hope that the owner of the store reads it and cares enough about their business to reprimand these employees and the white-haired lady who was obviously in charge. Because money is money and you shouldn't treat customers that way. Literally perpetuating negative stereotypes about ignorant Southerners, and embarrassing yourselves. So if you don't economically survive, I won't be surprised, because maybe other people have been treated this way too and they won't be coming back either. Life is too short for bigots to thrive, and it's unchristian of you to do so.

It's known as "the Exchange" or "Redstone Arsenal Exchange Services," or "Army and Air Force Exchange." It's open Monday through Friday 6 AM to 6 PM and closed on the weekends. It's sort of a one stop shop as it's a gas station, convenience store with a small liquor store (must have Military ID to purchase liquor, beer, wine, etc.), and smaller versions (versus the regular sized stores) of both Burger King and Subway. Unlike the Express with Class Six on Action Drive, the selection of liquors at the AAFES Express is much smaller and I've never seen the AAFES Express host an event like an on site wine retailer. I've eaten at both the Burger King and Subway, which can get really crowded, and purchased a few items at the convenience store. In the past I've purchased gas here, too. It's nice, in a pinch, to be able to pop over to the AAFES Express and get a sub sandwich or something from Burger King if you forgot your lunch and/or missed the cafeteria operating hours in your building.

I compared. JaMo's is the "sister location" of the JaMo's coffeehouse/café just down a little and across the street. That establishment was named for the husband-and-wife team of JAmie Miernick and MOrgan Andriulli, who'd closed down Five Points Espresso to move here in the mid-90's...when they sold to Mohammed Almohthsib, he kept the name. So it's "JAY-MOES," for point of reference, even if they don't answer the phone that way. Anyway. It should come as no surprise that, in addition to the aforementioned Harissa, lovers of Levantine and Gulf Country cuisine will also find Sumac, Za'atar, Ra's al Hanout, Pomegranate Molasses, and Oud (Agarwood Powder); Dried Lemons; Mint, Orange Blossom, Rose, and Pussy Willow (?!?!) Waters; and a wealth of more typical spices and additives. There are several types of Turkish Delight or Nougat candies; Ma'amoul (which may hold you till someone can make you the real thing); Mikado Čokolada from Croatia and Ülker™ Çikolata from Turkey; and even a few English offerings (though, in my attempts to read the fine print, they were apparently produced in Africa). Call ahead to see what's come in from their bakery partners: at one time or another, you'll find fresh Pita, Sangak, Barbari, and/or Lavash. They can also clue you in to when fresh produce arrives. Visit the refrigerated/freezer cases for Halloumi, Kashkaval, Bulgarian Feta, Labneh, Plain Yogurt, and Yogurt Sodas; Halal Meats; and Zereshk (Barberries). A Turkish acquaintance of mine wishes, however, that they had more TURKISH cheeses. Dried and canned items include Podravka™ Soups (Croatia); Va-Va™ Zakuska (Red Pepper "Salsa" from Macedonia); Sadaf™ Khoresh Gheimeh. There's a very nice Tea/Coffee area, where you'll also find a variety of Tea and Coffee glasses and cups. They had hand/shopping cart wipes and the store was really neat and clean, and, as others said, staff at any Publix I've been in are always very friendly and helpful! I noticed they had an abundance of "grab and go items," and somehow, I never saw the deli or the customer service area. I think the customer service desk is a hard right as you enter the store. What I really love is the Publix app. I haven't used all the features, (preloading coupons, making a shopping list, shopping the sale items via the app., etc.) I **do** love the app's touchless payment option! Just load your payment(s) (for me, that's my Visa to pay for grocery items and my FHSA card for prescription/OTC items) and you scan (or as I call it - take a picture of) the Q-code on the payment screen and voila! You've paid, and the app obtains and retains the purchase receipt. Touchless and cool. A lot of the Publix staff are not familiar with the app., and sometimes they struggle to complete the transaction, even though I announce "I am paying with the Publix app" and show them. This may add a few minutes to the transaction, and once, I had trouble scanning the Q-code due to the Plexiglass partition, but finally made it work. This is a nice Publix and I'm happy it's nearby in Clift Farms!
