Went here the other day after a very poor experience at Floors and Decor. F&D has everything you'd ever want, except knowledgeable and available representatives to assist those of us not in the tile business. Unless you count the couple of teenagers who sit up by the front-counter complaining about how much money they don't make. Following that fiasco, it was recommended that I go to Sparks Tile and Stone. Immediately upon entering the store, I was warmly greeted by Kathy. Who took her time and gave me quite a "tile 101" education, which was greatly appreciated. She gave me so much to think about, I came back the next day and Ashley helped me, as Kathy was on her lunch break. With her help AND the knowledge, I'd gained previously from Kathy, I was able to swiftly select the tile and make my purchase. I'll drive back tomorrow to pick-up my order. It's a 60-mile round-trip from my home (Carson City) to Sparks Tile and Stone and I'm happy to do it for the incredible service I receive here. What a fantastic and friendly business!!! Notice the snotty owner reply from when we were there 3 years ago and trying to insult me due to their poor policies. Our son went there recently and came to tell me of his bad experience. The BEST customer service ever! Randy was terrific; very helpful, knowledgeable, and PATIENT (l was overwhelmed by all the options of trim, accent tile, etc.). I made a major score on a clearance-sale marble countertop, plus a HUGELY (80+%) discounted polished and chiseled travertine sink basin. The savings helped me justify springing for the expensive trim tile I fell in love with that I otherwise would've had to pass on. My new bathroom looks like a million bucks! I'll never shop anywhere else for tile or stone. read more

I really wanted to write an amazing review for this company but now I'm just frustrated with them. I should have gone to granite planet for the same price if I knew I was going to be in a mess. So apparently pre-fab islands are not completely finished. So get ready to receive your items and one side not finished. So if you were installing yourself you will need a fabricator. The ONLY reason we went here over somewhere else is because the island slab was the perfect size so we wouldn't have needed a fabricator. So much for that idea. Once we received a phone call after calling to ask why it wasn't finished, the gal mentioned that "peninsulas" are not fully finished yet when we were purchasing they were calling it an island...two different things. Regardless the solution she came up with was for us to pay a fabricator to finish the end that they originally said would be done. We were already told earlier in the day that that was it and how it came so we found a fabricator to do it for us before they gave us another phone call. End result we are out another 1,000+ to finish counters instead of being able to do them ourselves like we had planned. Miscommunication on a trainee was the excuse but I don't think that was it. And they wouldn't credit us any money to fix it. I would have to say the gentleman that helped us was very nice initially and didn't try to upsell us but left out a major detail causing us to fork out much more than we planned. Overall I wouldn't recommend. I would go elsewhere! read more

Supposedly the best prices granite in town. I didn't really bother to check around. This is the spot the kitchen place and counter top installer recommended. And all three businesses were near each other. A good thing because the decision required several trips to each business. The staff at tile and stone were nice. I was able to go to the back showroom and quickly check out my stone choices. I, like most was on a budget and the prices were easily displayed. Ashley quickly figured my price and amount of stone from the installers diagram. Payment was required in full at time of purchase. And they held the stone for the installer to pick up. read more

My grandmother and I were looking for a counter top for a new kitchen island we installed in her house. We wanted to match the existing counter tops. We called to see if they could see if they had the counter tops, their radio ad made it seem like they had tons and tons of granite in stock. We called very friendly and helpful, emailed photos of the counter top and the said they think they knew what it was and the had it come on down. Called them back after to ask a few more questions and felt that I was being brushed off. Through out my attempt at the conversation I kept getting "mhm I gotta go, I gotta go mhmm." In the middle of me talking I'd get I gotta go. Anyways brushed it off, they were helpful and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Went out there, 70 miles each way, and the store was way smaller then I imagined, and their selection granite in my opinion was pretty dismal. They didn't have what we needed at no fault of there's a picture doesn't do justice and what they thought it was was close. But after we determined it wouldn't work we got that brushed off thing again. Started helping other customers while helping us, not a multi tasking kind of thing but walking off and working with them in the way we were trying to get help. They advertise expert design people asked for there opinion and we got "any of them would look good just pick one" Anyways, wasn't happy with the selection, the experience, or the service. We ended up going else where and got what we needed. Can't comment on price because we weren't even able to make it that far into the process. read more

We worked with Sparks Tile and Stone on 2 projects. Tile in our bathrooms and laundry and granite countertops in the kitchen. Both time we were very pleased with Cindy and her staff. They have an excellent selection of products and Cindy helped us choose the best products for our needs. On the second project, the granite, we ran into the issues with the corona virus quarantine. Again, Cindy was able to work with us. She actually has to go to CA to pick up the granite. I strongly recommend this business! read more

After 30 years of the same old kitchen counter tops we decided to get new ones. Went to different granite places and couldn't find anything that we liked. Then we went to Sparks Tile and Stone. With the help of Kathy we found the perfect granite. We had to go back because we needed more granite than originally thought. Cindy (the owner) got on the phone and located us some more. Cindy was very persistent and located enough for us to complete the counter tops. We had them installed and they look beautiful. We highly recommended Sparks Tile and Stone. Howdy, I wanted to give a sincere thank you to Kathy and Sparks Tile and Stone. I have not been in the store, nor met Kathy directly, but she helped my girlfriends 80+ year old mother navigate tile options, based on her preferences, and help sort through the myriad of options. Kathy took many hours to answer questions, over many visits, and help her with making choices. For you to fully understand, my girlfriends mother is a wonderful talker, and has a plethora of stories...however, you never have a quick conversation with her. While we eventually did not do the project, it would be a dis-service not for me to give a shout out for the good ol' fashioned service that Sparks Tile and Stone provided. I was buying granite and tile for my kitchen, Sarah was helping me at Sparks Tile and Stone, Sarah sent me to a granite place in Sacramento ( where they buy the granite) as Sparks Tile and Stone didn't have a good selection of granite we had identified. We did what she suggested, when we tried to put slabs on hold for Sarah to schedule pick-up, the Sacramento warehouse made us pay in full to hold. Sarah went on to tell us that Sparks Tile and Stone couldn't pick up slabs if we didn't directly purchase directly from them.... ok but they won't hold the slabs ..... long story short we did what she asked. We originally paid $1,900 for our slabs in Sac, Sarah/Sparks Tile and Stone invoiced us for $3,400. We're ok with an up charge for transportation but that's outrageous. At that point Sarah became angry and unprofessional, Sarah said " I don't care what you paid and I don't want to hear about it" really odd. The nice lady turned completely unprofessional and down right rude. We did not use Sparks Tile and Stone because of her. Incidentally, I referred a friend to Sarah before this incident and she had the exact same odd experience with Sarah. read more

The short story... The tile I ordered and paid for up front was no longer available (it took them a week to figure this out) it took a visit to the store and a phone call to find out it takes 24 to 48 hours to get a refund. 3 days later and the money still hasn't made it into my account. The long version... I Went to Sparks Tile and Stone to buy mosaic tile for a backsplash project. Looked through the many samples and found what I wanted, had to pay in full plus a fee for using a debit card and shipping. I was told it would take a week for the tile to arrive from their supplier. Okay, that would work since I wouldn't be starting the project until the next week anyway. The waiting week passes and I have a message on my phone, great everything is on track... nope, the tile I ordered is not available any more....It took a week to find this out? I didn't want to wait another week to maybe get a different tile so I stopped in the store to get my money back. The only person who could do refunds was out of the store and wouldn't be back for an hour. I was assured that as soon as that person returned the refund would be taken care of and I would get a call confirming this. In the mean time I had found tile at a different store that was in stock. Several hours had passed with no confirmation that the refund had been taken care of, I wanted to make sure the refund was taken care of before I purchased the tile at the other store. I called the Sparks Tile and stone to check on the refund and was told everyone was busy. I did receive a call later confirming it had been taken care of and the funds would be in my account in 24 to 48 hours. Three days later and I still don't have the money in my account. I'm not really looking forward to another phone call and more excuses. Why is it they can instantly take money out of your account but it takes days to return it? Maybe they take good care of contractors but as a DIY homeowner I won't be going back or recommending this store to anyone I know. Update, the funds made it into my account. read more

I am puzzled by the recent bad review which alludes to Sarah being 'unprofessional'. It is enough to read all the other 5 star reviews on here to dispell any doubt that Sparks Tile and Stone is a high quality, professional operation. I am an architect and have used Sparks Tile and Stone for years to specify and supply marble, granite and tile. I followed Sarah to Sparks Tile and Stone from her previous employment because of her expertise and the can do attitude she brings with it. Cindy has put together a great team of knowledgable and service oriented employees and continues to expand her operation with more choices and options than most other suppliers. If they don't have it, they can get it and at fair prices. I have even purchased materials for jobs in Southern California from them because of better pricing and service. Not a good experience with this business. Ordered and paid for Tile. Called to see if tile was in, was told it was. Drove down on Sat. to pick it up and warehouse guy said it was around the corner in a warehouse but they did not have access to it til Monday. Received call from Owner on Monday and was told it was "on a truck" but could be available within minutes. Advised her I was snowed in and would pick it up Tuesday morning. Went back Tuesday morning only to find out it was never in ANY warehouse, in fact, according to the Owner......FedEx lost the order somewhere..........other orders arrived but mine was "lost". I have had a lot of experience with FedEx.....but never a lost order. FACT: They did not bother to confirm with their supplier around the corner that the order was NOT received. Blaming it on FedEx is questionable and I think it is more believable to say " the order was never placed". The Owner of this business got up in my face and said I was rude when I told her I thought her staff was incompetent..............you know the thing about Leadership & Management in business is that employees often mirror the inadequacies of their Boss. A guy from the Better Business Bureau once told me "beware of doing business with a local company that relies on TV advertising because it usually means their have a poor customer base". I now consider those "words of wisdom". Referring to your employee as incompetent is an accurate description of how you provide customer service. You did NOT bother to check with your supplier or shipper to confirm that my Tile order was not included in the Fed Ex Delivery. I made 2 trips to your business after being told the Tile had arrived and weas on a truck at your Supplier. As we now know that was BS because you had not bothered to confirm delivery, choosing to "assume" it was delivered. Leadership starts at the Top and apparently you have done a poor job of training your sales clerks to follow-up on Customer Orders. Next, you followed me out of the warehouse and got up in my face in front of your employees while berating me for even questioning how my Tile orfder was handled. I hope people do read this. You want respect from your customers; well respect is a 2 way street and it is disrespectful to talk to a customer in the manner you did. There are a lot of Tile Shops in Reno and I recommend anyone who seeks Tile shop around. I ended up finding the vedry same Tile at a major retail store and the price was 1/3 of what you were charging. Yes, you issued a credit to me..that's the Law when you fail to deliver a service. Your reviewing my prior Postings is just another indication of how you attack the messenger in order to not have to deal with the message. When people pay for service, they expect service NOT excuses or shifting the blame onto FedEx. I don't consider your Business Ethics to be consistent with good service or customer satisfaction. Writing a YELP Review is the only way a person is ablel to share information with other consumers. Face it, few businesses are really concerned about customer service, they are only concerned abolut how fast they can make a sale and move on to the next customer..........you're no different. read more

I've been to the store twice. Each time I needed advice and help with how to take care of the stone in our home. I hadn't planned on buying anything the first time, and I felt no pressure to buy. I never felt like I was being rushed either. The second time was again for advice and a sealer. I was treated so well and I never felt embarrassed by any dumb questions. This is the best tile and granite place in town! Not only do they have amazing prices, they have great customer service as well. Jennifer and Randy were great to work with. I purchased a bunch of granite from them (to add on a kitchen). Unfortunately, a bad situation arose that I could not follow through with the order. They say all sales are final and no refunds but because of the situation that happened, they were very understanding and allowed for a refund (less a reasonable service charge). I'm in the process of buying a new home and will definitely use Sparks Tile and Stone when I re-do the kitchen and bathrooms! read more

Sparks Tile and Stone were fabulous, we took home sample after sample of granite, and they let us live with the samples a while. After a couple of months of looking at stone, we found the perfect granitewith them. As promised, it arrived one week after we ordered it, and it was flawless. I can't say enough good things about Cindy (owner) of Sparks Tile and Stone and her associates and how well they treated me. I recently decided to update my home with granite countertops in the kitchen and 3 bathrooms. An associate, Liz, was patient and cheerful throughout, showing me all of the options. I was able to make a decision in a short period of time and get all of the materials ordered. They were efficient and kept me updated on the status of the order. When I called, any associate was happy to help me with any question I had. I would definitely recommend doing business with this organization; they are totally hands-on and, definitely, customer-centric. It was a great experience! read more

Got to say a word about the special effort of Kathy took at Sparks Tile and Stone. We found a lovely quartz slab we loved but there was only one slab. Kathy found us 4 slabs with this pattern and all from the same cut so our kitchen counters and backsplach present a lovely flowing view. Kathy was able to find 4 slabs in Colorado and quickly got them loaded and on a truck headed for Reno. We looked all over Northern Nevada for this quartz but only Kathy could find it. Sparks Tile and Stone and a wonderful selection of reasonably priced stone slabs. If they didn't have it on hand (which is amazing with their warehouse showroom) they will work hard to find it and get it delivered on time for the job. Wow! Cindy the owner is amazing, she has a great showroom, really competitive prices and helped us narrow down the tiles we wanted really quickly!!. She opened up her showroom when it was supposed to be closed. When we arrived she already had samples out with our bathroom plan that she had got from our builder. Our two year son was given a car to play with so he was happy, she even played with him while we were looking around:) She gave us several tile samples to take with us and encouraged us to take more than we had planned too just to be sure.
