I got the green chili Burger. It was really good. It was pretty spicy but so worth it. The fries were amazing and super fresh. I was doing a cross country drive so I needed coffee. The cashier recommended the coconut latte. It was so good that I wanted a second. I got to meet the owner and she was very sweet and hospitable. The prices are very affordable. But I had been told to order a burger, but I so I got the patty melt. I no ordinary patty melt! I got it with sourdough bread. OMG YUMMY! Best patty melt I've ever tasted. Very good, entertaining family place. It has a very limited menu but the food is great. One of the best green chile burgers I have had and a fabulous Reese's shake! The prices are a little on the higher end but worth it as they have a museum of interesting things to see around their premise. I am surprised we have never heard of this place on our many trips to Las Cruces from ABQ. Looking forward to our next stop at this place! read more

I wish I could leave more stars here! This is true americana at its finest! We drove by on a roadtrip on a Tuesday and they were closed. We were happy to still get Pictures of the outside and see the establishment. Don't miss the muffler man a little farther up the road! When we circled back a few days later on our trip We missed them being open by 15 minutes. We decided to see if they would let us look around inside, which the guy working was happy to let us do. We were so thrilled to get inside, obviously disappointed we weren't able to eat, But sometimes it's not always easy to plan something on a trip. The inside has so many cool artifacts and the gentleman working was happy to show us around a little bit. We spent a little time inside wandering, and then went outside to take some pictures in the back. The man who let us look around came out and Said he was really sorry that he couldn't make us a burger, but he would like to give us something to take with us to try out at home. We were absolutely floored with how kind he was and how thoughtful he was. We continue to talk about this for 30 minutes afterwards. He was just so generous. We are so thankful that people like this exist, Sparkys definitely has a good one on their hands. OMG... this place is amazing! My husband and I went over the weekend for our first time while passing through and can't believe we have been passing by this gem for years and hadn't stopped. My husband ordered the Oinker which is a green Chile cheeseburger topped with pulled pork. It was so good and flavorful, the hamburger patty cooked perfectly. The only downer is that it's kind of messy but it didn't stop him from devouring it. I ordered some type of sampler plate that had pulled pork, brisket, ribs and sausage all for around $14. The sides...omg... the best part. We had pineapple coleslaw that was delicious, green chile cheese fries and sweet green Chile corn. Everything was amazing! The service was very fast. What a great burger and some awesome green chili. I took mine on the road, but was able to enjoy the atmosphere outside with the band while I waited for my burger. It is such a neat place! I love antiques, so the decor of all the old signs was super neat. Great place and great food. From the outside, and initial entry way, it doesn't look like much, but once head to seat it pops and turns great. I am very disappointed with this place after all the good reviews they have received. I was one of maybe two or three customers there as they had just opened. I waited thirty minutes for my order. The burger was over cooked, the chili was not very flavorful as expected (I eat hatch chili all the time, this batch on this burger was tasteless) and fries were dry. I've eaten at Sparky's many times since soon after they opened. This is only the 3rd time my burger was overcooked, contrary to my direction of medium rare. The person at the counter marked it medium, but it came to me well-done. After taking a couple bites, it was well done to near the center, so I asked for it to be done medium rare. It came out with medium well marked on it, and it was well done again. She insisted it was ordered medium well... Dry, but the flavor was ok. I have had a lot of green chile cheeseburgers around the state and Sparky's is the best I have had yet. The burger itself is excellent and cooked to order. The green chile is flavorful but mild. The wedge fries were good. The price is only slightly hirer than fast food with much higher quality. I stopped on a quiet Sunday morning right after they opened and the service was fast and friendly. Worst experience EVER! My daughter and I waited in line for an hour while subjected to the most nauseating stench of sewage and the swarm of flies that it attracted. After paying $39 dollars for two hamburger meals with shakes, we waited another 40 minutes, never to have the name we gave called out to alert us to pick up our food. When I inquired to the woman at the service counter about our food, she asked what name we gave. It was McKenna. She then asked to see my receipt, then rudely and emphatically insisted that they had been calling "Maken", not McKenna. She never once apologized nor empathize, nor did she offer to remake our food or shakes nor did she offer a refund. I then asked to speak with Teako, the owner, and her repugnant reply was, " That's my husband and I don't want him hanging out with you." When you go to Hatch, you probably want a Green Chile Cheeseburger. Sparky's is the place where you need to get it. Anyplace else will serve you an imitation. The beef is hand-cut, hand-ground, hand-formed, and cooked correctly to your desired degree of doneness. Add a slice of cheddar and Hatch Green (what else), embed the thing in a nondescript bun, and you have the best Green Chile Cheeseburger you are likely to get anyplace. This is not one of those designer Green Chile Cheeseburgers like many of those you'll get in the city. It is the real thing, Bubba. Don't forget the fries and a milkshake. It was 11am when I pulled into the parking lot and nobody, I mean not a soul, stood in line outside the door. The next few moments unfolded in what can only be described as a cinematic memory that shall never be forgotten. The whole thing was slow motion, man. I step out of the car, close the door, turn around and witness an entire biker gang across the street, like fifteen plus, hop off of their hogs and approach the place. I quicken my pace, but it's no use. First to worst in a matter of seconds. I'm stuck waiting for the next 15 minutes. A 15 minute wait is a drop in the eternal bucket for this fabled, infamous green chile cheeseburger pimp. The setup is honestly screwy. The venue itself can host a massive crowd (similar in capacity to the Frontier in ABQ) but because you order at the counter -- just one register -- the lunch crowd quickly wraps out the door and around the block at lunchtime. Folks, this ain't complicated. Two recommendations: first, add a second and third register and staff 'em accordingly. Second, how about some shade, yo? Add an awning out the front door and curl it north, so all of us suckers standing behind the biker gang don't burn our rednecks in the holy hell of the Southwestern sun. Order the World Famous. I tend to separate burgers into two categories these days: gourmet and to-go. These fall on the latter end, but they're also in a galaxy of their own. Sodium soaked patties bubbling over with American cheese, cooked to your exact specifications and finished with the best damn chile the world over, you will never, ever forget your first bite. I love the burgers here. So much so that I always stop here when traveling from Las Cruces to ABQ. Were this rating only for the burgers, I would probably give 5 stars. I also love their sweet corn and green chile side. Really tasty stuff! Sparky's used to be my "best burger ever" until I discovered Pete's Frites in ABQ. But I still love the burgers here. Today, I finally talked myself into straying away from the beloved burger to try Sparky's BBQ. I've noticed over the years that they have awards they have won for their BBQ posted on some walls, so I figured it had to be good. However, I came away quite disappointed. I ordered the People's Choice, which includes 4 meats and a side. First of all, the meat didn't come out hot. What's up with that??? It was about 1:15 pm, and even if some (or all) of the meats weren't fresh off the grill, at least reheat them and serve them hot! Everything had a nice, good, smoky flavor. Here's my breakdown of each meat: - Sausage: OK but surprisingly uninspiring. My dad's was better on the grill when I was growing up. - Pulled pork: very good. - Brisket: very good. - Ribs: super smoky & good flavor but just didn't taste fresh. Tasted like they were pulled out of the smoker hours if not days ago. - Corn & chile side: great as always and served plenty hot, unlike the meats! - BBQ sauce: way too sweet for me and lacking spice. Not bad but not real good either. This is significant because sauce is kinda important with BBQ. I kinda prefer the Sparky's meats without the sauce, and that's mainly because the sauce is not that good. I should also mention that I've developed a bad habit :) of getting their Chile Mango Shake for the road. I love it. While it's not made with real ice cream (it's the machine soft serve stuff), it's still really good, and the chile gives it a nice kick. Definitely recommended. I've read reviews that say that the place is often too packed to get a table and I can definitely see that happening, but my boyfriend and I were fortunate enough to come at a good time. Even then, there was a line (which moved quickly). We ordered two of their World Famous! Hatch Green Chile Cheeseburgers, Sweet Corn with Hatch Green Chile & Onion, and their Wedge Cut Fries (came with the burgers), and an Oreo Shake. Even though the burgers are pricier than the ones you could find at In-n-Out, the prices are really not too inflated and so worth that extra chili flavor! So the fam and I took the drive to Sparky's as there seems to be a lot of buzz lately in Las Cruces about this burger joint. I'd say it was worth the drive and the effort, but only just. Now I'm a positive person don't diss (are the kids still saying that?) and I'd say this place is a bit better than average. We had some chocolate shakes, chili cheeseburgers and fries, overall a ton of chow for $35. The wife went rogue and had the pineapple slaw and a chili lemonade (el rojo). Her choices were spot-on. The service was amazing and all the staff was super friendly. They laughed and joked with us and made us feel good that we were there. The chairs were super cozy (weird that I noticed) but the flies and the full neon fly paper trap were kinda gross. I live just 30 minutes down the road and we don't seem to have this same bug issue. Anyway, the food was good and we all ate to excess, prompting a long nap once arriving home. It's a good burger and fries. Next time I'll opt for the kids sizes or the BBQ.
