Turns out they close at noon not 2pm as yelp states so I didn't actually get to go inside sadly. I peered inside through the windows and it looks like a very cute place with a nice selection of books. I'm not sure what they serve coffee wise because I couldn't see the menu. Stopped in today as we always like to check out the local bookstores when we visited new places. One side was inaccessible due to what appeared to be older folks sitting at tables that blocked the shelves. We bought a couple of coffees and left. This was a lot different experience than the first time I visited. I don't know that I would come back. Seems they catered to locals anyway. read more

Two things I love, books and coffee. I have spent hours at a time here. I never leave empty handed and I'm always happy after being here.

I visited the store with my dog to see books availability so I decided to stay inside the store to read some books I stayed there for about roughly 30 minutes inside the worker inside the store came up to me while I was sitting and reading and told me that I should not stay in the bookstore all day I was shocked that she told me that considering I bought some books several days prior and that I'm a customer that purchased food as well so I asked her when does she want me to leave she said whenever possible though she tried to tell me that usually she tells her customers that and her action is justified well I'm not stupid I'm almost 50 years old wasn't born yesterday this experience is discrimination and racial profiling If I stay to closing time that would be all right and all public places. I've been to book stores in cities across America and I was never treated this way and told when to leave I believe since I was Hispanic minority I didn't deserve the same privileges as the white customers in the shop also I was the only customer in the shop when she told me this by the way I'm not full-blooded Hispanic I'm also white that's why I have a German English last name so question if I was black a black man or white man with some type of status would she tell me to leave that I don't deserve to stay all day. I thought that was the idea to stay all day to find a interesting book I thought in our society Hispanics and Whites by now would get along boy was I wrong and I'm just a half breed I can't imagine if I was totally down and ethnic looking in a environment that is not fully inclusive. I would suggest going to another bookstore. read more

This bookstore has reopened. Currently, open limited hours. Regular hours starting in Jan (check back to see what they are). A fun and eclectic collection of books (with many local authors). A great space to meet a friend for a coffee/tea (no espresso drinks, at this time) or waste away some time diving into a newly purchased book. The Black Cat was a much loved place prior to closing, it is very exciting to see it reopened!! read more

This is a great little bookstore and coffee shop. Its a comfortable place to relax and hangout while you peruse the unique selection of books. There are tables and a couch to sit on while you review books you may want to buy. I always leave with a book or author I have bern wanting to read. This place is crazy adorable! I wanted to bring it back to Albuquerque with us and keep it forever! This is the perfect little used bookstore that wraps you in warmth and quirk in just the right balance. The book selection is diverse and fun. The categories for the sections aren't always traditional but they just work. They have fun events like poetry readings too. When it says coffee shop, it is in the more traditional, pre-Starbucks meaning of the word. Don't expect lattes and espressos. They have tea and hot coffee to warm your soul while you explore your new read! Their adorable location is central to all of the hot spring spas so it is the perfect place to stop in for a coffee and a great new read to take with you to your soak! We saw so many people with books at Riverbend Hot Springs and I wish we had stopped here first for a good book to enhance our relaxation! read more

This is a great place to stop if you find yourself in Truth or Consequences or if you are just passing through and need a good cup of coffee! The coffee shop is small, warm, and inviting. The staff and locals inside were all very friendly - immediately everyone chatted us up! We showed up on a Sunday around noon and they were preparing for a poetry reading and invited us to stay; unfortunately we had to be back on the road. Be aware this is a book store first and a coffee joint second. They had 3 carafes of very good coffee; you poured and made your own cup before paying. There are no espresso based drinks here and I only saw some homemade cookies as a food option. There was an electric kettle if you wanted to brew your own cup of tea. If you're looking for friendly people, a cute used book store, and a tasty cup of coffee, stop here! read more

Good coffee and cool, funky used book store. The store is in a trust for the public good and run by volunteers. It's a little disorganized but half the fun is exploring the shelves and finding a gem of a book. read more

This is a great little shop in T or C. Lots of books to choose from in various condition but a great selection. Coffee is excellent as they roast their own. The key point is that now this is a community store organized and staffed by volunteers, which will eventually be an authorized nonprofit organization. We are so glad they were able to keep this store open, and it's open more hours than it previously was. Yes, as others have mentioned, it's a place where locals like to hang out, but that is typical and great for a coffee shop! read more

It serves as a general meeting place for T or C old people and their butts in chairs block access to the shelves. My favorite place in town. The best coffee, great pastries but the selection of used books tells me this is a community of serious READERS! I asked the owner where she got all the wonderful selection of books and she said almost all from right here in TorC. Loads of good mysteries, great non-fiction and fiction too. Adore this place! It's small town chill and comfort at it's best. i eyed it the last time we rolled through here, but i believe it was during the week & it was closed. The only thing i can say i'm unpleased with is that it's only open Fri-Mon, but i understand why. They serve coffee and sweet treats which looked and smelled wonderful. i didn't indulge this time, but most definately will next time :) Went in there to take a look around and wound up purchasing 4 books and a cd {though i wanted to buy tons more}. Lots of space and lots of books! Black Cat is definitely a neat place to have a bigger group for simple coffee or tea, but nothing past that. No soy or fancy drinks, just plain, simple coffee and half and half. I really like the space and the tables here, but the service isn't fantastic, nor the drinks, so it's not my favorite ever. They tend to have funky hours, so it may or may not be open! read more
