Great bbq and green chile cheeseburgers. I love the potato wedges, they're crispy of the outside and creamy on the inside. There can be a line out the door to order but once you get to the seating area it's spacious and nice. Lots of classic signs and collectibles. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you are driving to the El Paso/Las Cruces area from Albuquerque (or vice versa,) make plans to stop here for lunch!!! Mmm, Mmm, Mmm!!! First off, the outside of this place is FUN! The owner has managed to get the cast offs from some very famous restaurants. You can take a picture alongside Ronald McDonald, or sit next to Col. Sanders. We looked too late, but I think I saw a Bob's Big Boy on the roof. I'll have to check next time I go. They have a seating area next door, and we were lucky enough to get there in time to hear the blues musician playing at lunchtime! What a blast!!! Now for the food. I have to admit, I've never ordered the green chile cheeseburger. (GASP!) My husand has, and he fell in love with it. I keep ordering the same thing, which are the Teako's Tacos. I am in love with these tacos! Pulled pork, smoked to perfection, with green chile and a crispy taco shell. Sparky's also makes a homemade bbq sauce that you can put on top. The first taste of the sauce is misleading, because it's very sweet, which I'm not too fond of. But, after a few seconds, the smallest hint of heat arrives. After a few more bites, the heat kicks in and the sweetness of the bbq sauce makes a perfect blend. This little side trip is definately worth the extra hour you need to add to your trip. read more

Wow! That's how I'd describe their Green Chile Cheese Burger. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and perfectly juicy. And beautiful to look at too. It was sublime. The fries were a bit too salty for my taste, buy they were perfectly cooked to a golden brown with just the right texture and crunchiness. The service was fast and the staff were terrific It was well worth the trip from Las Cruces. I would go there again and again and again. read more

An easy 5 star here. Atmosphere is cool, the green chile is the main attraction and it's amazing. We got a green chile lemonade to boot and it was very satisfying! Now onto the main course...I got the "World Famous" which is their green chile cheeseburger with a side. My side I picked was the smothered fries (smothered in queso and more green chile). The burger was juicy, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. There's really nothing bad about it that I can say. The smothered fries were a nice side to the burger and I ate them just as fast. A great lunch, and a must stop if you're near Hatch and looking for a burger. read more

Writing as a vegetarian: Being on the road, vegetarians get used to eating nothing but grilled cheese sandwiches, especially in small towns. Hatch may be tiny, and yes, Sparky's is a barbecue place, but they actus)y have a vegetarian menu! I had their bean burro. Tasty beans (no lard), smothered in chili (no meat) that is spicy and luscious, wrapped in a hand thrown tortilla. Their corn chowder is super sweet, spiced with green chiles, all locally sourced. Because, after all, Hatch is all about growing chile's and corn. My husband the meat eater sampled their ribs and their sausage, enjoying them so much we took another portion in the cooler as we hit the road. Don't be fooled by all the kitch (which usually is an attempt to mask mediocre food). Highly recommend! read more

Excellent!!! We were heading home from a camping trip at elephant butte and this was the place to stop. The atmosphere in this restaurant is awesome tons of things to gaze at while waiting in line. Me and my husband had the oinker a famous green chili burger topped with pulled pork some pineapple slaw which kicked down the spice just enough and the people choice platter 4 meats. The brisket was a little fatty but had great flavor, great flavor in the hot links, the pulled pork couldn't of been any better juicy and smoked to perfection. And the pork spare rib amazing flavor but wasn't falling off the bone tender. To drink fresh squeezed green chili lemonade. It had a kick but if you love green chili I would recommend it. And last but not least seasoned wedge fries smothered in what else then green chili queso! I would recommend this place to anyone that loves green chili and good bbq. read more

Wow, the VSP with chicken was amazing. Cheese sauce with green chilies, corn, and the beans were really good. Shame I live in another state or I would eat here every day. It was worth the drive here from Truth or Consequences to have lunch. read more

This place is quirky, and has signs for just about every iconic restaurant that's every existed. They are famous for their green chili cheeseburgers, and it's the best one I've had since moving to the area. It's perfect when paired with their pineapple coleslaw. I've tried other items on the menu, but nothing is like having the cheeseburger. I go here every chance I get. read more

We had a really fun visit to Sparky's. Friendly employees, the line moved fast. They had live music too! There is a dog menu and we were thrilled to be able to have our dog enjoy lunch with us. Really good BBQ here and for a good price! I had the Half Pound Plate with brisket and it was delicious, the Sweet Corn with Hatch Green Chile & Onion is definitely a highlight! I also had a Dillon's Special (espresson drink) over ice and it was excellent! I will definitely be back! read more

Coming home from Albuquerque going to Tucson this is a must stop. The hamburgers and the brisket were excellent. This is a food oasis in the desert . Waiting in the long line is well worth it. This place deserves 5 stars. Stopped by Sparky's on my way back to El Paso and their green chile burgers are superb. Tender, juicy meat and their chile is not too spicy. Sparkey's is open inside but not really wide open. We went today and the Famous #1 Burger was good but not awesome as in the past. The buns on the burger must be different because they were dry and not good as we remember. We have been coming here from Las Cruces for years and we hope this will NOT become the norm of ordering and eating out of to go styrofoam cartons. We miss the old Sparkey's! read more

Still the best! Now the dining rooms have expanded. It is gorgeously decorated with many fun pop icons and artifacts. Seating has quadrupled with the renovation. There is also an area for those who call in their orders to sit out of the way. Many seats with a window view for car watching. The dining area with the stage is the same but one does not have to walk outside to get to it anymore. Burgers are still world famous with delicious Hatch green chile. The green chili cheeseburger was amazing, and I had a decent side of pineapple coleslaw (but really, get the fries, they are better). Drinks were great. Believe the hype. Sometimes when a place is so highly promoted, you will find it to be a tourist trap but that is not the case here. This place is legit! The green chile cheeseburgers are delicious! I was surprised that they weren't dressed a little more, then I found the condiments bar and was able to get some pickles and onions. My lady loved her sweet potato fries and I enjoyed the cole slaw. We waited in line about 10 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to place our order at the counter. They then deliver the food to your table. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was some live music playing in the other room. A fun place to eat with the allure of the Hatch chile. read more

Sparky's is a great place to stop on your way through Hatch NM. I had the hatch chilli pepper grilled cheese. It was on Texas toast and American grilled cheese, which I'm usually not a fan of, but it matches the aestetic of the place. I had to wait I'm line, it was a Saturday and pretty busy, but I didn't have to wait for long and when I ordered my food it came out really quickly. Seems like a family friendly establishment. Parking was pretty limited, I had to park about a block down in a sketchy empty parking lot. This place has quite the personality and I would love to go again. But if you're looking for a quick stop, probably not the place for you. read more

Stopped in here most of the way through a 1000 mile ride. The World Famous Green Chili Burger was fantastic. It was cooked just like I wanted and the chilies were tasty with a little bit of heat. Our food came out fast and the staff was friendly. There was plenty of seating, but I have been told this place does get busy to where people are wrapped around the block waiting to get in. We made a special trip back out to Hatch just to check out this bizarre burger joint we passed along the way. It's the most amazing place in the middle of nowhere! They even have a Colonel outside to greet you before you make your way in for some seriously good eats! The coffee is pretty darn good too! It's the best Burger joint/coffee joint for miles and I'll say it again... GREEN CHILE BURGER. It's a must have since Hatch is the Chile Capital of US! Cool kitschy decor. Live music was playing next door (additional seating for them). Burger melted in your mouth. Buns were pre-packaged (only downside) but heated and toasted.
