The studio itself is beautiful, shiny, white, and clean. It's small, with maybe 5 chairs, but very friendly, with great music playing. They have a downstairs with a comfy couch, and rooms for waxing, facials, and massages. I was there on a Monday (yes! Almost 5 years in Denver and I have finally found "home" for my hair. Thank goodness because I was starting to get worried. I love the salon itself, it isn't gigantic and crowded which I appreciate, it's small and intimate. The colors and decor are bright and cheery and the products that they use are incredible. My hair stylist is Lindsey and she is amazing. Cut and color always look great and I finally don't have to worry about coloring my hair every 4 weeks. She stripped my hair of all the absurdly dark color and went in and made me look healthy again. First off, thank you to all the other Yelpers who led me to choose this place during my visit to Denver. Your reviews were right on. Lindsey is amazing. I have hair that is in crazy transition right now. Due to medications/hormones, my hair had gotten really thin and, while I am happy there is now new growth, it makes my hair a little weird. Lindsey took the time to listen to my story/concerns and really address them. She explained where I was at, how long it might take until all the new growth could really be part of an actual style, and what I could do in the meanwhile. Then she gave me a FANTASTIC cut. She worked the ends so they didn't look straggly anymore (an issue I had with stylists back home who always wanted to put layers in my hair) and made my hair look thicker and in better shape than it has in such a long time. I snapped up a groupon to see LIndsay K for a cut, all over color, etc. When I got there, i talked with Lindsay (who happens to be super fun and personable) about what I wanted... Since my hair is pretty low-key (long, straight as a ruler, and as dark brown as it gets), I wanted to try something fun... like streaks of bright-ass color. She was totally game and fit this laborious coloring process into her day. First, she put the bleach in (b/c you can't really color darkest brown hair) and then applied color to cover my grey/white hair. Forty five minutes later, we needed to get the coverage color out, but my streaks weren't done bleaching yet. No problem, we washed the color out, and Lindsey reapplied the bleach. She continued to check my hair, but noted that it was going to take QUITE SOME TIME. It ended up taking about 3 hours of bleaching. (I had knitting and people magazines to keep me busy/entertained). Then we applied the color that she mixed for me, let it set, shampooed, cut the hair (a trim) and voila! Awesome service. Lindsey kept feeding my meter for me so I didn't get a ticket and offered to run next door to grab me a lunch/snack. I'm not typically a fan of coming downtown b/c I hate dealing with parking issues, but for Lindsey? I just might. read more

I stalk my hairstylist. She worked at Vain so I went to Vain Salon for 4 years. Vain is a great salon, great stylist, cool art work etc. but I am in love with my stylist so I am now going to Sanuk Studio. It has 3 styling chairs, one "sink", & one hair dryer chair. It is as a previous reviewer said "shiny & white". It has an old Hollywood / Art Deco glam thing going for it. Apparently it has been a salon / spa for 23 years. There is indeed a small room downstairs for sitting and reading and two rooms for massage, facials and the like. My price for my styling, color, yada has gone down and the quality has not... my only "regret"... no more free beers with hair appointments lol and the distance from my house... no longer 3 blocks. Still it's a pretty little shop and all 3 stylist seem very capable and likable. The one major downside: seating while you wait! There is one chair upstairs for waiting and seating for about 5 downstairs. If the stylist are double booked or if there is anyone at the salon you may very well have a hard time finding seating while you wait. read more

I got my hair colored a month ago and because of my lack of communication I ended up with something I did not like. 24 days later I called Lisa and she saw me again and corrected it with absolutely no problem. I am never the one to complain but I told Lisa it was either I apply it with a box from target or I could call her again and see what she could do. After moving from Boulder, I was desperate to find a hair salon near my new 'digs'. I had driven by Sanuk Studio several times - always liked the decor, seemed like a cute place that wasn't overcrowded and noisy. Booked an appointment with Alisa, and have been going back ever since. What a great hairstylist. Every time I schedule an appointment I am confident I'll leave satisfied. My hair is curly and blonde. Alisa is conscious of styling my hair so it looks good straight or curly - and she does a great job of working various shades of highlights into my hair depending on the season. She's great to chat with, and I look forward to seeing her every 8+ weeks. The salon overall is smaller in size - which gives it a more personal feel. The staff is welcoming, and fun. They carry great product lines as well and the prices are reasonable. Great salon - great staff - I would highly recommend this place to anybody. read more

I went there to get my back waxed with a groupon. I got there about 10 minutes early and sat down upstairs. After 3 or 4 minutes, I was ushered to the downstairs waiting room. A minute before my appointment was supposed to start, I was brought into the waxing room. The whole appointment was very fast (30 min) and extremely professional. I purchased a deal chicken for a facial since I've never had a facial and wanted to check it out. It was a pleasant and relaxing experience. Jaina was knowledgeable about skin and I felt like she tailored the experience to my skin type - something I have heard other places may or may not do. She was also able to help fix my brows, although the waxing prices do seem a few dollars more than other places I've been to. This has to be the cutest salon I've ever been in. It's pretty small, but the space is used well. The downstairs area/waiting room is super comfy and they have a ton of magazines. I called Sparrow's on a Thursday and was able to get a Saturday appointment with Lindsey Kubla. She was really great about talking with me about what I wanted to get done and made a couple suggestions without being pushy. I walked in with a graduated bob that had been growing out for almost a year with box dye in it. She was able to even the length, add some layers, and even put some ombré into it! I called in this morning to see if they could fit me in before a big trip, and Lindsey agreed to stay late to color and trim my hair, AND take care of my fiance's overgrown mop. While there, Lindsey spent extra time with me making suggestions for ideal hair colours, showing me how various extensions work, and explaining the best way to blow dry bangs. I've never had a stylist so interested in helping their customer out. The conversations weren't tedious and mind numbing, and I left the place in a better mood than I had entered. I'd highly suggest this place, and even more highly suggest working with Lindsey. Fantastic! read more

I came in a Groupon for a leg wax and felt a bit uncomfortable with the waxer. She seemed judgmental and standoffish. Also, she up charged me on a very small part that I've always had included in my lower leg wax when I have been waxed elsewhere. I have gone to this salon for years, and always worked with Lisa, the owner. My most recent, and final visit was nothing short of a nightmare. After Lisa applied my color, she forgot I was there, and left for the day. The color was on my hair for much too long before I finally realized something was wrong. Thankfully the other stylist still there, Lindsey, was able to rinse out the color, and call Lisa to inform her she had forgotten about a client half way through their service. When Lisa returned to the salon, she was defensive, and angry, made me feel like I was the problem in this situation. Guy friendly! Surprisingly! Walking into the place I was a little bit unsure about whether I had made the right choice, given my XY chromosome. Not to say that its overly feminine but it certainly won't be mistaken for a male targeted barbershop. On the Sunday afternoon that I went in I was greeted by a bright, open, pleasant space with gentle bluegrass music playing and nobody in the shop. Mallory was my hair dresser and did a great job of assuring me that, yes they did in fact have experience cutting men's hair. While I usually go to a great hispanic barber in San Francisco who does a great job for $15, I decided to splurge while I was in town for a wedding and Mallory was definitely worth it. She was very thorough and did a great job making sure that I was satisfied with the cut. Probably the best haircut I've ever gotten and Mallory is very pleasant. While Mallory probably does many more girls than guys, I'd still highly recommend her if you have a Y chromosome. read more

A recent transplant back to Denver a year and a half ago, I haven't been able to find a stylist I really like. On a whim, I purchased a Groupon for a color and cut and wow... Dionah blew my expectations out of the water! Having never gone reddish before, I was really nervous, but she nailed the color I was looking for. Not only was it an awesome experience but Dionah is a really cool chick too. With my hair type (fine thin hair) I have always struggled to find a stylist that knows how to perform the look I was going for as well as succeding to achive my goal. Anthone did an amazing job on my highlight (really AMAZING) and the cut gave me volume and sass without having to go short. I've actually been living in Denver for almost a year and have just been letting my hair grow out. Corra did my hair and took the time to do an AMAZING job! My hair is extremely long and thick so it takes 3+ hours to do. I wanted to go lighter and knew that there was a huge variation in color from my ombre. She did such a good job with the color and cut! It's exactly what I wanted for Summer!
