Tycho Brahe would probably turn in his grave if he discovered the state of this planetarium…read more Once he was the pride of Denmark, one of the world's most famous astronomer that gave his name to this supposed to be superb place to learn about astronomy and the science behind it, but this place is so run down I began to feel sad already once I stepped in. Now it's mostly IMAX theatre - playing a couple of hi-res film in the curved giant screen. Not much of the old planetarium part of it left. Don't get me wrong, I love the IMAX theatre and the film they play. I went there just today to see "Space Next" and I think it's awesome seeing with 3D glasses and the big screen and all. It's definitely an experience that you can't get in normal cinema. But the state of the place apart from the theatre is sad. Toilet is dingy and old (clean, but kinda smelly), the supposedly educating exhibition seems like it's been there for so long and nobody really takes good care of it. The "mission launch" game is so boring that I doubt it would catch anyone's interest. Even the game room for kids are so worn down that you felt like you stepped back into the time machine and came out on the wrong era or something. All in all, this place needs facelifting, the exhibition, the shop (most importantly! - they need to be more serious in selling popcorn and candy if they want to focus on selling the theatre!) but I do recommend seeing the film in the IMAX theatre.

Very expensive for what it is. Especially as the 3D film…read more(dino-frickin-saurs!) that brought us here was mis-advertised and was not actually until later, too late for my travel home. The short 15 min coral reef documentary was very interesting but did not make up for it, especially as there wasn't much depth to the rest of the 'rium.

This cinema reminds me of Paris. It just has such a lovely atmosphere with its black and white…read moredecoration! And all the framed pictures and the nicely set posters make a nice vibe. Regarding the facilities, there is a cafe where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or warm chocolate before or after the movie. Can't remember if they had popcorn (pretty sure they didn't) but at least they do not have much candy. So if you associate movies to eating something yummy make sure you bring something with you. One more thing I liked about it was that it was more or less kids free and it was quite chill/peaceful with no queues. I had a very positive experience and whenever I check for films I try to look if I can watch something there. It is also quite conveniently close to Strøget so it is easy to find your way to it.

Small, neat cinema with an authentic vibe…read more Grand Teatret has been kept in a Danish 1930's style that gives the theatre a unique warm and welcoming feel. The atmosphere is laid back, and I've never seen a line of more than 3 people (all waiting to get a coffee) - and while you can buy candy, it doesn't have a massive candy supermarket like many newer cinemas, but instead has a minimal candy selection at the ticket sales desk. The lovely vibe you get from the cinema and its adjoining cafe is that this is a place for movies and cinema lovers. Not marketing. Not candy. Not Hollywood. Just good movies. It makes you remember what movies and cinema is really is - or at least really was - about. Bottom line: The best cinema in Copenhagen, second only to Cinemateket.

Okay, now I'm in my happy place…read more The Medical Museum, like that of the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia and the Narrenturm in Vienna, has lots of bones and guts and blood on display. There's a lot to see and read about in this museum, so if you're not weak-willed and can stomach some blood and guts, then I highly recommend this place. I really liked walking into the lecture room, a semi-circle of seats pointed towards a single podium. Just like in the movies. The basement also had a creepy sort of feel to it. Just like the movies. Since everything is housed in the actual space, it is truly authentic. Unfortunately, it is not ideal for the disabled and I don't think wheelchairs are able to get around at all. There are lots of stairs, even on a single level, and some are quite percarious at that. I tried using a Yelp check-in coupon with the nice gent that was selling tickets, but he claimed he had never seen one before in all his years working there. The manager, Vivika I believe her name, was very nice about honoring the discount, though she wasn't sure about it either. I guess there aren't enough Yelpers in Cph yet. She then was very thorough about telling me what was on display. Really enjoyed my visit here, and would recommend it for all weirdos like me.

I LOVE THIS STUFF!!…read more I have been to the Mutter Museum in Philly and I have been in a Medical History Museum in Indy. And this Medical Museion is like a perfect blending of the best parts of both of these spots! It helps that it is included with the Copenhagen Card, so it *feels* free, when actually you have already paid for it... But I gotta tell ya...even if it wasn't included with the card and you had to pay for it no matter what....you should go here! This was the first thing I found myself interested in when searching for things to do in Copenhagen. I was just so excited to see there was a medical museum in the city. And it surpassed my expectations. The museum is very close to the Marmorkirke and the Amalienborg Palace. So you can cover a lot of attractions in one day, in one area, should you want to. The museum hosts an interesting and mind-messing specimen collection. Much of it had me reading all of the info cards with my mouth agape, just thinking "....wow!" Definitely not for the squeamish, and maybe wait until your lunch has settled, or even eat after your visit, before decided to feast your eyes on some fetuses and brains and whatnot. While we were there, the museum was host to an interesting exhibit on the lower level called "Mind The Gut," which was really interesting and had a fun interactive game/"prescription" machine/fortune teller thing. The information signs throughout the museum are in Danish and English. And they have regular English-language guided tours. But as a native English speaker, you will not have a problem getting the most out of this museum. The staff at the welcome desk were friendly and happy to give us all the information we wanted. They absolutely added to our positive experience at the museum. I loved my visit here and would highly encourage anyone in to this kind of stuff, or who like off-the-beaten-path types of things, to pay the museum a visit!
