The adoption process was pretty simple the only thing that was rough was that we had to take him home the same day, so I had to leave him home alone while I was at school the next morning. They have a lot of cat options there and it's nice bc you can go into the rooms and meet them! Love my Tigger

They paired me with my new best friend!! I recently adopted my first cat from the SPCA and every step was great. The volunteers in the cat area were friendly and helpful, the paperwork was easy, and I got a new best friend out of the deal. The whole shelter is clean, volunteers and workers can be seen caring for the animals throughout your visit weather its cleaning, taking some dogs outside for walks, or speaking to potential adopters. they're doing great work here.

Thank you so much SPCA. I Adopted Quest (formally known as Choochi) a week ago and he has been such a joy. This place does such a good job placing animals in permanent homes. They do a comprehensive wellness check and identify any issues to prospective owners. Quest was everything I had hoped for in a new pup. Highly recommended.

This organization is awesome and does a great job caring for their animals. The staff was helpful and friendly. Lots of commotion going on but they handled it well! The best way to do it is make and appointment, go in, and ask all your questions there. The girl and women that helped me pick out a rabbit were awesome and they let me hold whatever one I caught my interest and I couldn't thank her enough for that because I got to bring home cookie! He is so sweet. At first he hid under my bed and was thumping his feet but by the night he was out playing and doing binkies!!! Not only that but the dogs they have here are so awesome! I got to meet prince at the front desk and he even shook my hand. I had a great experience here and am so happy with cookie. Thank you all for making this happen!!

$1,000 to adopt a dog? People are looking to rescue pups, not buy a designer dog here. I asked if the adoption fee would be lowered after he's inevitably there for longer than others, they said no.... What a way to make sure a sweet dog doesn't get adopted.

Hi Shannon. Yes, we can take your bunny! Please call our main number 727-586-3591 x 166 and set up an appointment so we know when to expect you. We can also answer any questions you may have.

Can I return three cats that I obtained from SPCA Tampa Bay about 10 years ago as I am no longer able to care for them?

Yes you can. You must make appointment. They might not make it out of shelter alive. You are not… Read more

This is when a cashier rudely says '"you are going to have to get at the back of the line !! We're too busy right now!! My thought was what a jerk! I am writing this review to share our unfortunate experience with Petland in Largo, FL. We recently purchased a tiny Pomeranian-Yorkie for $4000, expecting to welcome a healthy, happy puppy into our home. Unfortunately, our experience has been anything but that. From the moment we brought the puppy home, we followed the feeding instructions given to us by Petland, feeding him 3-4 times a day. However, on the third day, the puppy began having seizures and foaming at the mouth. My aunt, who is not able to drive, was alone with the puppy and had to wait for me to come the next morning. When I arrived, the puppy was listless and clearly unwell. We rushed him back to Petland, who advised us to take him to the vet. The vet then instructed us to go to the emergency room, where we discovered that the puppy was hypoglycemic. He was given an IV to stabilize his blood sugar levels, and the vet mentioned he might have liver issues or other health problems that would require further testing to diagnose. Given the puppy's critical condition and the level of care he would need, we returned to Petland to discuss the situation. We explained that we would not be able to provide the necessary medical care for the puppy and requested that they take him back. Petland refused, stating that returning the puppy would be considered animal abandonment. They would offer no reimbursement for the medical care this dog would require, nor would they assist in the care of the dog. I reached out to Petland's corporate office, hoping for a resolution that prioritized the puppy's well-being. However, we were forced to take the puppy home, despite his serious medical issues and our inability to care for him properly. I am extremely disappointed with how Petland handled this situation. They displayed a complete lack of responsibility and compassion for the puppy's health, prioritizing profit over the animal's well-being. Selling a puppy with such severe medical issues without proper care instructions is unethical. I urge potential buyers to think twice before purchasing a pet from Petland, as our experience has been heartbreaking and distressing. The life of the puppy should be the most important concern, and it is deeply troubling that Petland failed to take responsibility for an animal they sold just days prior. We are left with a sick puppy and a significant financial burden, with no support from the pet store that sold him to us.

Upon entering the shelter, you register on an ipad which sped things up. My pit bull passed away on July 20, 2018 and I was going to wait a while to adopt another one but on August 26, they had a free adoption day. I adopted Basil (formerly known as Bam Bam). I walked 5 pitties and loved each one for different reasons, but Basil was the best on leash and he was a little older so he'd be easier to deal with. The shelter socializes their adoptable dogs. They have signs on the cages like "Bam Bam loves to play with Kylie" so I was assured he was good with other dogs. The gravy was after I brought him home and he was great with my 3 cats and my roommate's dog. When I was looking at the dogs, I was allowed to take the dogs out of their kennels myself and bring them in the back to dog runs where I could let them off leash and play with them. I will definatley adopt from here again. I was lucky to get a fully vaccinated, neutered, vetted, sweet, housebroken microchipped boy for free! I fogot to mention the free starter kit - small bag of dried food, 2 tennis balls (that are now shredded), greenies and her license.

The odor in the dog area is overwhelming, reminiscent of decay, making it unbearable for visitors. My sister and I found it impossible to remain in that section due to the repugnant atmosphere. In stark contrast, the cat area was the only part that appeared to be maintained (reason for one star). It is disheartening to see the staff, many of whom were idly seated at computers, failing to address the needs of the dogs. This facility either requires immediate closure or a complete overhaul in leadership to ensure genuine care and effort are prioritized. County commissioners, your attention is urgently needed. Very sad.
