They are very pushy and I felt like I was overwhelmed and then everyday I drive by I really feel so terribly bad for that pretty young girl out there holding a sign!! completely made me sad and hurt so I stopped and asked her if she was o.k. as I saw somebody on a bike approach her. do you really feel it's necessary to have a little young 18 year old out on the road holding a sign all day? Maybe she's older but looks so young and keeps a smile at all times but why? I even saw her out there on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve on my way to work!!! I feel that's very unnecessary and she deserves to be working inside and maybe you could buy a sign and just have it flash!! My wife and I went in to purchase a puppy at this location. They lied and said that Vet care and a puppy welcome kit was included when in fact they charged us for all of those items. The owner also lied and said that the Mastiff we bought was his own Mastiffs son. I returned to return the puppy because it had health problems and was not a pure bred. The owner said we could return the dog and he would give us a surrender letter which would entitle us to a refund. I sent my wife with the puppy in tears, she came home with a typed of surrender letter stating we were basically getting nothing back and on top of that they get to resell the puppy which had health issues. I absolutely do not recommend this puppy Mill to anyone and frankly anyone who had the same issues please reach out to me as I am starting a class action lawsuit. Update: I was called by the corporate office, I explained the situation and they didn't seem to care. I reiterated everything on this complaint to them, the response I received was too bad soooo sad. I mentioned that the manager lied and they didn't seem surprised. I stand behind my review as they stand behind the appalling service they offer. My wife is still paying on the charge despite the owner saying we could return the dog, they also said they would have their council which I am assuming is their legal team(not sure who in their right mind would represent this place) call me to discuss their terms lol. Consider adopting a puppy or finding a local breeder recommended by a trusted veterinarian. Three years ago, we bought a puppy from Petland. She weighed just 3 lbs and was very ill with Bordetella and had two congenital hernias. I believed I was purchasing a second-generation Cavachon, but it turned out that the father was a purebred King Charles Cavalier and the mother was a first-generation Cavachon. Now, my puppy has grown to look exactly like a King Charles Cavalier, which is wonderful because she's become a beloved part of our family. The key takeaway is to insist on seeing the puppy's papers, as they wouldn't provide them until we had paid in full. About a month ago I got a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy. I got her on a discount so why not get her? Anyways, I took her to my primary vet that I've taken all my past dogs and they told me she was fine and everything. Which she was. Until the food that comes included with the homecoming kit made her extremely ill. I ended up two weeks later in the ER for GI upset. And then I had a follow up with her vet after that incident that proceeded to do a fecal exam on her. Turns out she tested positive for GIARDIA!!! She has been with zero contacts with any dogs aside from the pet store. I ALSO HAVE FLIPPING GIARDIA!!! WHAT THE ACTUALLY HECK PEOPLE!!! NOW THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR HER BILL!!! I don't even take her on walks yet bc she is 3 months old and only potty's on a grass patch on my apartment patio area. So I'm 100% positive she got Giardia from the pet store. Also side note the vet they refer you to is crazy expensive vet even with the discount so I recommend looking somewhere else for vet advice! I love my Chloe so much so I'm obviously gonna do whatever it takes to make sure she is ok. The insurance they refer you also is honestly not that bad and customer service is good with them at least. The annual limit is only 5k tho so be warn if you get a pet here and end up in the ER except a high bill. read more

The management is wonderful, but I did receive a sick pet. Unfortunately he had ear mites paperwork was all wrong. Didn't give me a break. After finding out my cat had ear mites. I find the animals that could be well. A little more taken care of the way they look don't think they're that clean And if you're paying for an animal, that's $3400 it should be in mint condition. sorry to say at least I hope they standby their policy of 10 year warranty, but I don't recommend this place. He had an upper respiratory infection to start with and come to find out he was born with a liver shunt which caused us to spend an entire night in the ER with the poor little guy. Unfortunately his quality of life was little to none so we had no choice to put him to rest. The emotional stress that this has put on me and my wife is unacceptable. This store does not care that you just lost one of your best friends they will just pass you off to some fake solutions department that doesn't answer the phone and only has an answering machine. On July 1 we purchased a female Rottweiler. The same day we took the dog to Indian Rocks Veterinary as required by the store to insure warranty. By Saturday July 5 the dog was in an Emergency Vet with Pneumonia and having oxygen pumped into cage. I called the store and was give phone numbers for their insurance Pet solutions and told to file a claim with Kangura. In the meantime I had to lay out $6100 to the vet just to have the dog treated. I went into the store and spoke with the manager Paul who also told me to go through insurance channels. Apparently it's out of their hands once the dog leaves the store. To date Pet solutions doesn't acknowledge any of the claims or phone call messages and we are still waiting for Kangura to give payment. Petland Largo is selling very sick dogs without any valid recourse. The pain and suffering they are causing these animals as well as the people who buy them is inexcusable. In addition the puppy gave my 13 year old Havanese kennel cough and that cost me another $455 at the vet. We paid $5000 for the Rottweiler and another $6100 In vet bills without any accountability on the part of Petland This establishment needs to be investigated and not allowed to sell animals read more

I am writing this review to share our unfortunate experience with Petland in Largo, FL. We recently purchased a tiny Pomeranian-Yorkie for $4000, expecting to welcome a healthy, happy puppy into our home. Unfortunately, our experience has been anything but that. From the moment we brought the puppy home, we followed the feeding instructions given to us by Petland, feeding him 3-4 times a day. However, on the third day, the puppy began having seizures and foaming at the mouth. My aunt, who is not able to drive, was alone with the puppy and had to wait for me to come the next morning. When I arrived, the puppy was listless and clearly unwell. We rushed him back to Petland, who advised us to take him to the vet. The vet then instructed us to go to the emergency room, where we discovered that the puppy was hypoglycemic. He was given an IV to stabilize his blood sugar levels, and the vet mentioned he might have liver issues or other health problems that would require further testing to diagnose. Given the puppy's critical condition and the level of care he would need, we returned to Petland to discuss the situation. We explained that we would not be able to provide the necessary medical care for the puppy and requested that they take him back. Petland refused, stating that returning the puppy would be considered animal abandonment. They would offer no reimbursement for the medical care this dog would require, nor would they assist in the care of the dog. I reached out to Petland's corporate office, hoping for a resolution that prioritized the puppy's well-being. However, we were forced to take the puppy home, despite his serious medical issues and our inability to care for him properly. I am extremely disappointed with how Petland handled this situation. They displayed a complete lack of responsibility and compassion for the puppy's health, prioritizing profit over the animal's well-being. Selling a puppy with such severe medical issues without proper care instructions is unethical. I urge potential buyers to think twice before purchasing a pet from Petland, as our experience has been heartbreaking and distressing. The life of the puppy should be the most important concern, and it is deeply troubling that Petland failed to take responsibility for an animal they sold just days prior. Do not buy from Petland.. Before you buy a puppy, you should always research where you are buying your puppies from. Unfortunately I made the mistake of not doing that, and I implore anyone who intends to buy a puppy from here to look into it before they make their purchase. Not only are the puppies expensive (which wouldn't bother me as much if the puppies were healthy) but most of the puppies according to multiple sources are sick. I bought my puppy on February 13, 2025. Originally I had no intention of purchasing a puppy but when I saw mine I just had to. Following that day I noticed my puppy was extremely low energy, which didn't initially concern me in the morning but as the day progressed I had a feeling something was not right. I looked for any vet that was open and took my puppy there to which they told me he was dehydrated and pale, and they wanted to test him for worms and Parvo. We got prescribed deworming medication and the parvo test came back negative. Thinking that was the end of it I took my pup home and cared for him, but I continued to notice he had no appetite and was slowing becoming more and more lethargic. The following day I took my puppy to the vet recommended by Petland (PS. I would never recommend that place to anyone) as soon as I walked through the door I didn't like the vibe but I figured I would give the place a chance. As I was filling out paperwork my puppy threw up bile, as nothing was in his system. We got seen by the vet to which he barely checked the puppies vitals and barely touched the puppy. He gave my puppy fluids and prescribed him anti nausea and "appetite enhancer" to encourage him to eat. But to me it didn't seem right to suppress the symptoms rather than find the root cause. He gave my puppy an injected version of the anti nausea medication and sent us on our way with food. My puppy started eating shortly after we arrived home (about a 30 min car ride from the vet) and I celebrated because it was the first time he would eat since I had purchased him. However I had noted that he still hadn't had a bowel movement which I was told was normal considering he wasn't eating. I waited for the day to pass as my puppy slowly became energetic throughout the day and hoped all was well. The next morning my puppy drank water went to the bathroom but still no bowel movement which alarmed me. I had a bad feeling about the vet we had gone to prior and I was taking a trip to visit my parents so I figured I'd take him to a trusted vet there. As we continued with the day the puppy was acting normal minus the no bowel movement still and I had been arranging a vet appointment where I was going. Shortly after arriving I noticed my puppies condition began to rapidly decline, I took him to a 24 hour emergency urgent care that I have extreme faith in and they took my puppy, they notified me of the pale gums as the first vet had, and they wanted to run blood work, fecal exams and X-rays to figure out what was wrong with my puppy. The initial concern was that he would need a blood transfusion but thankfully that was not the case. As my puppy was getting his tests done in the back the vet came into the room to speak to me about where I had purchased my puppy. To which I responded "Petland" and she cautioned me that the entire franchise is probably one of the worst places to buy puppies as the company is extremely shady with how they handle their dogs and the information they tell their buyers. I told her my experience with the previous vet appointments more so the second vet (which was recommended by Petland) than the first, and she responded that she would help me find a good vet for my puppy because the medication he was given was simply not necessary and the appetite supplement that I refused to give my puppy but was prescribed should be tossed. She discovered my puppy had low blood sugar as a result of not eating and seemed to be extremely back up in the bowels which looking at his scans goes days before I would've purchased the dog. Petland ensured me a vet had looked at the puppies but now I think they literally meant someone physically just looked at the puppies and said they seem fine. The vet from the other day had also told me that based on what she saw she believed my puppy may be younger than the age that Petland claims he is, but there is no way of fact checking that. Thankfully with all the tests we ruled out various major issues with my puppy and he has been put on a diet with some medication to help his bowels. I would advise anyone to think twice before supporting this business as these vet bills cost almost another $2,000. Needless to say I will not be returning to this store for future pups and I learned my lesson to always research I only hope anyone reads this and does the same. UPDATE: on 02/ 26/2026 at 2:21 our puppy passed away suddenly in emergency care after suffering from seizures. read more

Absolutely do not buy a puppy from petland largo. We purchased a German Shepherd puppy in March 2023 and we took him to the vet immediately. We spent $6,500 on this puppy and along with him came kennel cough, two different types of worms and a heart murmur. Petland largo told us to go through customer care and that the store location couldn't do anything for us. After going through customer care they offered us a claim of a portion of the cost of one medication. Under the rights document that we signed, the puppy is either eligible for a full refund or a swap out for a new puppy that is healthy. Our puppy has been deemed not fit for sale by our veterinarian and under the pet lemon law petland largo is in violation. I love our new puppy but he is very very sick. Stopped in the Petland in Largo, the first thing that hits you is the awful odor. (Although it looks clean) 2nd they are putting 4 puppies of different breeds in the same small cages. Noticing when they are playing and another puppy has had enough they cannot get away from the aggressive one. Unacceptable. 3rd i am watching one puppy who was having a soft poo,(didn't drop down to the bottom, puppy was eating it. I was so sad to see this. So this is an addition update to my prior review over a month ago. We got a new fur baby from Petland Largo brought him home and next day took him to our vet & was told he had Giardia which is a very contagious bacterial infection. Contacted our sales rep via text & she said she would tell her manager immediately. He definitely had it while at Petland. We paid for his meds & finally got him better. Go into this week our other fur baby has also contracted Giardia so apparently we not only have to get medicine for her we now have to treat our whole backyard. Made an apt by phone last Sunday and I drove an hour to see a particular dog. By the time I got there, the dog was no longer available and no one called me to notify me. Also they wouldn't give you information over the phone even if you are driving an hour to come see the puppies. They do not answer questions over the phone because their goal is to only get you to the store. Then you get there to find out their puppy package is $7,000. Yes.....That's right $7,000. I am pretty sure the Humane Society has an adoption fee of like $35. Just saying . This place made me sick walking in and seeing 3 puppies in each glass case :( The employees I dealt were not old enough or knowledgeable enough to be working and were very rude. If I could give this place a Zero star I would! Petland should be shut down and the owners taken to court for animal abuse, price gouging and supporting puppy mills. They had a Maltese that they claim was purebred from the top two percent breeders for the price of $7000!!!!! We'll let me tell you, I have been going to the dog shows to meet breeders showing their Maltese and you can tell the difference in the quality, not just that but the price for show dog is around $3500. I was in shock when Petland told me what they are asking for the dog, the finance plan is a total scam and so as the vet. I was also observing some of the other dog's behavior and you can tell they already have neurological issues, the gray puddle kept on twitching his head and bumping into the glass as he was disoriented. It was mild but if you know enough about dogs and observe you can notice the disorders. As these puppies grow they will have major issues being seizures or other neurological disease. My question is, if no one buys the puppies while they are still little and cute, what does Petland do with them when they become adults? Where do these puppies go? There are also four dogs to a very small cage without any room to run, play, poop or sleep the way they should. Petland does not use quality breeders, these dogs come from puppy mills or a kennel that overbreeds just for money!! That's why all the dogs have health issues and die at such a young age and prices are outrageous so they can all get their cut. I'm blown away that this place is still open all these years, these complaints have been going on forever and this place needs to be shutdown!!! I put a puppy in hold beacuse i was thinking about it. i was under the assumption that i was only signing for for the deposit to hold him. i left and a week later before i even came back to the store they had put a monthly payment through. I didnt have the dog in possession or even finish the financial. they would not give me that money back and I didnt even get the dog. I dont understand how they can pull a monthly payment out when I didnt even finish the whole application or EVEN HAVE THE DOG!!! Im still trying to figure out if im in the loan for the puppy. i tried to contact a worker that gave me their number to ask if i was still in the loan, they still have not gotten back. also said they would talk to a manger and nothing got done.
