My event was scheduled and payment was made in full prior to the day of they make sure to charge on time. They take the payment but could not come through with getting my order delivered on time. It was stressful to host a corporate company picnic and not have the tables and chairs arrive on time to prepare (3 hours late) pointless. They have poor communication and left me disappointed and ashamed. I DO NOT recommend them for any type of service especially when you have a planned event. Look elsewhere and do yourself a favor! Placed an order for chair rentals for a small wedding on a Monday. We paid for everything in full and sent back the CC authorization form. I called the company to add a few more chairs prior to the event and Belen, the associate I worked with stated they have no record of the payment and therefore no reservation for my chairs. She couldn't have been less concerned. I told her that I scanned and sent in the CC authorization myself but I'd be willing to have you my credit card ran again right now. We ordered tents, tables, chairs, table cloths, and napkins for our wedding from this rental company. Overall, the tent, tables, and chairs were sturdy. BUT the employees lack communication skills and patience with each other and their customers is what made me fail this review. If you are in a business that will eventually serve a wedding, you need to expect changes and be able to provide patience and great communication. Positive Feedback: (1) The tent held up great against the wind from the harbor. (2) They provided gutters for the rain to be filtered between the three tents. (3) The walls were easy to take down and put up. (4) The walls provided windows that were convenient when wanting to make sure the tent still felt open. (5) They did not charge extra for the days we had the tents. (6) The dance floor was strong and sturdy. Negative Feedback: (1) When we updated the tent sizes to avoid a permit, they waited a week to catch the changes with the person who measured the yard in the first place. (2) We confirmed that they would come at 9am since they stated it would take a whole day to put the tents up. We got two 30x30 tents, and a 10x30 tent. We called all day on the day before they're scheduled appointment to be reassured they'd be on time because we were tight on time to set the lighting, tables, chairs, etc. up. We got no answer or call backs until the next day. When we finally spoke to someone (the receptionist) at NOON (3 hours after their appointment time) we were told they had just left! They were an hour away and still managed to arrive at almost 3pm! My wedding party's schedule got pushed back 5 hours because of this company's lack of urgency. It's pretty simple, don't say you can come early, if you can't. (3) So, much stress for me (the bride) would have been spared if this company had strong communication between not only them and their customers, but them and they're own employees. I called a few days ago to place an order for my company for 2 different events. They assured me they would send me an email with the quote. I did not receive an email. I called the next day and the woman told me she would send an email and call me back in 15 minutes to confirm. No call. No email. I called today to see what is happening and the guy said he will call me back. It's been over a week and all I was asking for is a quote which special events rental committed to sending. Whenever I chat with them on the phone they do not seem to care about their clients. Even if they are a New client calling from a large corporation that they could have had a profitable relationship with! From my experience with them I find them to have a lack of customer service and to be extremely irresponsible. read more

I wholly DO NOT recommend this company for any "special events" you might be planning in the future. I just had my event this weekend and the service was beyond disappointing. If you choose to rent from this company, be prepared to deal with poor communication, poor scheduling, inconvenient pickups/dropoffs and setting up and taking down rented equipment yourself! I rented a total of 6 pipe and drape walls and 2 round tables from this company. I told the company a total of three times that I would not have access to the venue until after 5 pm and they had assured me that the items could be delivered on their later route. When I called again, they told "that would be a problem" and that the delivery could come at whatever time. At the very least they told me I would receive a call a couple days prior to confirm the delivery schedule, so that I could be there to receive the items and learn about set up. Of course then on Friday, at 12:16PM, I got a call from the venue itself stating that the delivery was already there. I did not receive any call prior and of course I was not in the area at the time and had to have the delivery person leave the materials downstairs in storage and had them explain things to me over the phone. I was told that everything was very light and easy to figure out and that the HEIGHT of the poles were adjustable from 6-8 feet. I brought one person with me to help set up the pipe and drapes, since I was told things were very light and easy. Again, my event was upstairs and everything was left downstairs because I did not realize how heavy the actual bases were. (*On top of paying for the rental there are two $35 dollar charges for SETUP, pick up and TEARDOWN for ground level only!) The person delivering the items just dumped the items and left them in disarray. When we went to set everything up, it took us longer to figure out since the height is not adjustable like I was told, but the width. From transporting the bases, the poles, the tables and set up, it took me and one other person a total of three hours to set up everything that was rented. This to me defeats the purpose of renting items and paying to have them set up if it takes an additional three hours to do so. Also, it was never mentioned that there would be an additional cost (I would have gladly paid) for transporting things upstairs. Another inconvenience to deal with is that weekend rentals are dropped off Thursday/Friday and picked up on Monday/Tuesday. Cool, so rather than renting a venue for 4 days, I also had to take down the pipe and drape, fold the drapes and put everything away myself after the event. Also, even before writing this review, I sent an email on 06/24/17 detailing this exact experience to the people that I had been coordinating with. It is 06/26/17 and not a word or phone call in response to my email. ** Even more unprofessional than not answering my email, is that when the company was emailing me their quotes for the rental, Angie sent me the W-9 form of one of their employees as an attachment! My final straw with this company is that when the delivery person came to pick up the equipment on Tuesday, he had the nerve to be rude to the people working at the venue. In my email due to the issues with delivery, I asked that I be called and notified when they would be picking up, they then called me multiple times while I was at work to let me know what time they would be coming. Also, though they didn't give a crap when dropping stuff off or emails about their service, they sure as hell were eager to pick their stuff up, I got an email from Manny (same person I emailed about their service) saying the driver was unable to get a hold of me. Please. I left all the equipment upstairs (which is accessible by elevator) and obviously that was too much for them to handle because he gave the person working there attitude the whole time and was very rough with the equipment on the tile flooring. Mind you, I SET UP AND TOOK DOWN EVERYTHING MYSELF, so why in the world, this guy would give people attitude when I did half of his job is beyond me. I get it, maybe my order wasn't big enough or I didn't spend enough money here to warrant better service, but I really regret having given this place any of my business and letting it put a damper on an otherwise great event. So, people of Yelp, do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else for your special event needs. read more

We had a very important event this past Friday (8/17/12) that started at 8:30am. We paid extra for early delivery and I spoke over and over with Angie P to guarantee delivery at 7am. Guess what time they ARRIVED? 9:15am. Nearly 2 and a half hours late! Our guests had to stand around because Special Events Rental could not be on time for our Special Event. I wanted to get to the bottom of what happened so when the delivery guys finally came, I casually asked them what time did they leave Chatsworth (our event was in Malibu). They LEFT their warehouse at 8AM. 8AM! They were supposed to arrive by 7am! Why in the heck did they leave at 8am? Well apparently the front office sucks and no one in the office communicated to the delivery guys that they needed to be at work early that day so that they could make a delivery for my special event. Not only were they not apologetic, but they stopped answering my phone calls and were very rude. I should have taken these reviews to heart before I entrusted this company with my event. We have used Special Events rental for many years for our big Annual Family Health Fair in Compton, CA. We always need an extra early set up. Our most recent fair was on Saturday, August 11, 2018. The service provided was EXCELLENT! John Tucker and his crew were there before our requested time of 6:00am. John had reviewed the layout I had sent a few days prior and knew it well. John and his crew worked quickly, efficiently and professionally. Once they completed setting up, John walked through the set-up with me to ensure that all the canopies were in place. Pick up was at 1:00pm and they were there a bit before 1:00pm, ready to break down the canopies, etc. This year was the smoothest running set-up! John and his crew were great. From an accounting standpoint, this has been one of the most frustrating companies to work with. Since 3/26/12, I have been waiting on a credit from this company. I have had to call several times as my credit was not showing on my credit card. Each time I called there was a different excuse as to why the credit had not yet been issued. As stated to me by the employees of S.E.R., each time they tried to issue the credit they didn't have the necessary information to process it. However, instead of contacting my company to get the required information, I had to keep following up with them. It is not 4/24/12, and I have yet to receive my credit. Only ordered high cocktail tables and umbrellas, they dropped them off in a timely matter and picked them up, the umbrellas looked kind of crappy and so were the tables. I covered the tables with tablecloths obviously, but 1 was VERY unstable. No tables, no chairs, no linens. I called Special Events Rental a couple of weeks ago after an order I placed with another vendor fell through. To say the least, it was a very stressful day. However, when I called SER, not only did they have EXACTLY what I'd requested from the first company, but they were charging me A LOT less money for it. The entire process - from getting a quote to receiving the tables, chairs, and canopies two days later - was easy. I can't speak to other people's experiences, but, in my opinion, if you need to solve a party-related problem in a cinch, with minimal stress, give these people a try. I ordered 500 chairs, 85 eight foot tables and 26 six foot tables, when they dropped off my order they had shorted me 24 eight foot tables ( make sure you count your order before they leave) then I was told at 7am on the day of the event " we don't have any other table to give you...really??? This order had been place 3 weeks prior to the event... When it came to put up the tables and chairs they were 3 1/2 hours late and I had to pay a worker to stay with the stuff until they arrived. They tables and chairs were dirty...and when I called to speak with someone I never received a call back...DONT USE THIS COMPANY read more

I just called to reserve chairs for Thanksgiving. I have not used them before but came across their website when I googled party rentals and they are close to where I live so I figured why not. First off, if you're going to have a person answering the calls to your place of business, they need to be friendly. The person I spoke with sounded bored and irritated. I need 20 chairs for next week, not a big deal. When I looked at pricing on the website, it had the white folding padded chairs were $1.25 each which should total $25.00 plus tax.....but oh no. I was told that the website was incorrect, that there was a minimum and that the chairs were $2.50 each. I said it doesn't say anything about a minimum and why is the website still up if it's incorrect. To which she sighed....yes she sighed and this is when the irritated voice came on and reiterated how she had just said the website was wrong and did I want the chairs or not. I was tempted to tell her to F* off but needed the chairs so I bit my tongue and ordered them. When she asked for my contact #, I gave her my home # which again seemed to irritate her. I don't know why I have to explain myself when I give the number I want to give. She went on to explain if I wasn't at pick up when the time alloted then they wanted to get a hold of me, I said I understood and that I was comfortable with giving her my home # to which she sighed again and said she needed my cell. I said I didn't need to give her my cell and again I was perfectly comfortable with my home # being point of contact and I could tell she wasn't happy. I'm hoping the rest of this goes without a hitch and we pick up chairs and they're great and there's a happy ending to this to which I will gladly edit my review. However jacking up prices and being rude are not a good start. read more

The actual product we received was perfect. we rented string lights for my wedding and they were beautiful. however the customer service was lacking on the day of, prior the day of things were going well. I received a call from a man who spoke very little english and referred him to my wedding coordinator who spoke spanish, but later i received a nasty message that they would be "moving on" if we didnt call him back. quite rude. in the end it was exactly what i wanted but because of the rude message i cant give a good review, it was my wedding day and they pissed me off. never piss off the bride people. they are reasonably priced but make sure you ask how they install things because that was an issue too. it was cleared up eventually but only because my coordinator was amazing, not because of this company. read more

My wedding was May 7th, 2011. I was not pleased with the service provided by this company. The ordering process went well. I was none to happy when I was told that the company policy was to take the balance of their fee before delivering the equipment. Another issue was their drop off time. They gave me 2 days 12pm-8pm as drop off times. I asked that they narrow down their drop off time to a single day and a block of 2 or 3 hours. Finally, they did agree and sent me an email invoice with the date and 3 hour window. Unfortunately they did not deliver during the scheduled time. Worse, they did not call. When I called they said that 2 trucks were broken and they would not be able to deliver. Manuel (the owner) was rude, inarticulate, and offered little solutions. He did finally agree(after raising his voice to me) to drop off the equipment himself Saturday morning (which they usually do not do). The other problem was that we had scheduled for the equipment to be picked up a certain day between certain hours. Again, no show, no call. They finally came the following day, and called 20 minutes before they wanted to pick up. I recommend you do not use this company unless you are under no time constraints what so ever and speak fluent Spanish (as that will make it easier to converse with Manuel). read more
