Learned this the hard way and I will never repeat this. Let it be a lesson to you too. Make sure you actually go to the showrooms or warehouse and look the products you're ordering. I trusted them enough to place a phone order for chairs table and glassware. First off the delivery people came way before their given time, and I wasn't home yet. I had to leave my errands and rush home to accommodate them even though I had planned my day accordingly, was gonna finish up and get there actual given time. So the delivery guys start unloading the truck and I specifically told them how I need the tables placed- mind you there's a ridiculous additional set up fee besides the delivery fee which is absurd. Whatever so I agreed to pay that too and even though I had told them how I want the tables they still had not placed them where I needed them. Everything was so rushed and careless and they literally placed the tables too tight to each other barely room for chairs or guests to sit when I had so much extra space. So I told the guy to move them and he had the nasties attitude and rudely told me last time ok. As if I had asked him 200 times. The younger guy in the beanie was nicer but the little bit older guy was awful. Anyway, they start setting up the chairs and I was devastated. The wooden chairs were chipped and had splinters, natural wood light color had dirty black marks and the white cushions were peeling off and faded. Such terribly old products I was in utter shock that a rental company would still carry these and rent them out without any shame. I pointed it out to the guy and again- very rudely he says to me ya that's normal it's from the chairs rubbing against each other during delivery. I said is that my fault? How is that normal? I told him they are old and I'm afraid my guests will get cuts, and he says that's why we brought a few extra in case you need to swap them out. They had bright 4 extra chairs... which one was I going to replace? They were all terrible. I had to look through each one and inspect at least to most useable ones. I called the company and all they were able to do was give me a 15 dollar discount on the delivery fee. Nancy the owner was so chill about it, no remorse, no apology, like she was doing me a favor giving me a bull crap 15 bucks off .. Complete disaster but I had no choice because my party was in a few hours and I had to set up, otherwise I would either send that junk back or make them replace them. I'm not satisfied and I will never go back. You're still welcome for the payment in full and the 2 star review. I honestly regret paying her that money and I should have fought for it. Hired them for our wedding. Their communication is very poor. We sent them two calls/voicemails and two emails with no response trying to get our invoice. Waited until after the honeymoon and still no response so emailed threatening to dispute the charge and received invoice right away with no comment. Nancy was great! My husband and I had a large wedding shower party last February and it was the coldest day of the winter season...in the valley! Thank goodness Modern Party Rentals delivered right before the downpour Friday night. We noticed holes in the tent, and right before Saturday's party, Nancy had her guys come and patch em up just in case it rained again. It didn't....thank goodness, and our party was a success! MPR picked up everything the next day. A year and some later, I'm ordering from them again. It's unfortunate the three other reviews are stars below mine. Maybe I just got lucky? CHEAPEST RATES in town, Guaranteed! I have been renting from Joe and Nancy for a few years now and I've always found their team to be courteous and helpful. I throw parties a few times a year for family and friends and I've rented all sorts of things from giant tents, to chiavari chairs, tables, linens, heat lamps, and utensils. They were more than happy to accomodate my needs from as little as 6 people party to a hundred people party. I literally rented ONE table and ONE tablecloth for a small dinner party at my house and they didn't give me any problems about it, that's how nice Nancy and Joe are! They have a large selection of items, and I prefer to go there and pick items myself as I need to touch and feel the items that I need. I can't speak for the people who are not happy with their experience complaining about tear, scratches and quality of the furniture. If you're paying bottom prices, it is expected to have a few miniature imperfections. It's normal wear and tear. Not a big deal. However, if you prefer spotless, top of the line, prime furniture then don't be CHEAP, go and spend a FORTUNE somewhere else and stop whining. Prices are reasonable. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN EVER EVER EVER. The lady who I spoke with over the phone regarding an order for my party last weekend told me that I did not have to put a deposit down to reserve my order. She told me to pick them up on Saturday 8 AM before the event on Sunday because Sunday they would be closed. Fine, for the prices I was quoted I was quite willing to pick them up and drop them off whenever they told me. Saturday morning I call at 8:09 (9 minutes after I was supposed to pick them up) I am calling to let them know that I'm on my way and just making sure my order would be ready and they would be open. I called 3 times no answer, so I'm getting nervous. Finally THIS RUDE MAN answers and tells me "no we don't have tables" and I said excuse me!? I have a reservation, they told me to go at 8 am. His answer was "well its 8 am and you're not here" so I get upset VERY QUICKLY thinking they rented out my order. I yelled and said "what kind of service is this? I was told to pick up at 8 I didn't know there was a time limit" He cuts me off and says "fine come get them" come get them? What am I a dog? So once I get there I'm ready to complain as soon as I walk in he says "oh i found your reservation sorry". 2nd thing that upset me, its raining and I've rented the wood chairs so he tells me you can't take them in your open truck you'll ruin my paint. I look around and see LOTS of plastic and blankets folded, so I say "can you rent me one to cover the chairs so that they don't get wet?" He said , "no i don't have any" so i had to make two trips because I had to go home and find plastic to cover the chairs. When I leave the first time to drop off my tables and pick up the plastic he tells me "and hurry back because I need to leave" I don't think there is a need for me to continue... I think is pretty apparent how rude they were and the kind of service they give paying customers. His workers don't think so highly of him either, I heard them speaking badly about him when he wasn't close by.... ... good luck if you're renting from them. read more

If you don't want to be completely stressed out, angry, and incredibly disappointed, don't dare use this company for any type of event. This is the most unprofessional, unorganized, unavailable, non-responsive, un-knowledgeable company I've ever dealt with. For my wedding, I had already paid a deposit to them before I realized all of the above. They kept adding and excluding items to my invoice, giving me incorrect prices, and charged my card for the final balance without asking me after I specifically said I would make the final payment the day of the wedding. OH YEAH, and they kept giving me the wrong date of delivery. I kept reminding themn they had it wrong and it had me so freaked out. I told them the date and time I wanted everything delivered and they would say "we will try to be there by that time". What professional company delivers on their terms???!!!! I made the same mistake and used them for an 80th birthday party for my mom, because of their prices. In retrospect, it wasn't worth it. I had asked for 30 goblets and they had brought me 18 only. When I called them , they insisted that it was impossible, and talking to me as if I were an idiot who can't count. They finally came back with 12 more. I had e-mailed them clearly that I wanted everything delivered on the day of the party. They got it wrong and brought everything on the day before, which totally spoiled the surprise because my mother was home. I explained this to them. I had asked for round soupboals and they brought me square ones. When I complained, I was told that they don't carry round ones. The person tho took the order never mentioned that to me. She is TOTALLY in her own world and makes up what she wants without willing to listen to the customer if there may have been miscommunication. I would give them 0 stars if I could! When I emailed them the day of the delivery to ask for a time slot, they said they cancelled my order. Their excuse was that they tried to contact me for credit card information and I didn't respond. I check my call logs and I had not received any calls or voice mails from them. I never got an email about the credit card either. I even had asked them earlier in an email if I needed to sign anything and their response was that I would do that when they deliver - no mention of credit card or other payment forms. When I called, the manager (Nancy) was not in. They never apologized and continued to lie about trying to contact me. I asked them to have Nancy call me back and then sent Nancy another email to contact me with no response. I don't mind people making mistakes, admitting it and do what they can to fix it. These people just never took responsibility and continued to lie about it. They almost ruined my Thanksgiving party. This place is a little sketchy but their prices are really inexpensive. I rented linens for my wedding and some coffee mugs. There was some confusion with the order, they don't seem to be super organized but in the end I got everything I needed, it looked and worked great and was a great price. We used Modern for a school function. Nancy and Joe couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Their prices were wonderful, plus they were willing to meet any other price that we got from other vendors. PLUS, once Joe came out to the site a few days before our event, he was made several suggestions, based on our layout. We took some of his suggestions, not all and he was not pushy. But, I must say, that because we used some of Joe's ideas and because he was willing to meet and/or beat other prices that we got, we ended up saving ourselves so much on set up time. This place may have great prices, but you get what you pay for. Several times I made the mistake of renting from this place because of their prices - and I will not make the same mistake again! The first time I rented from here, was actually the least worst - the only complaint was that the linens had snags in them and the chairs weren't in the best condition - but they were ok, so I was willing to rent again from them because of the prices. The second time, when I called to make a small change to my order, they didn't even have a record of my order. The real disappointment came, however, when how dirty the chairs and silverware they gave us were. It was clear that the chairs had just been dropped off from a previous party, there were food chunks and stains all over the chairs. We spent a long time cleaning the chairs - I couldn't believe they would give us chairs in such a condition. The third time they sent me the wrong linens - wrong colors and sizes. And the linens were in horrible condition - one even had cigarette burns in it. The tables were fine. The chairs were ok. But the stress they caused me over the linens that day was not worth the extra money I saved by using their company. Worse was how they handled my disappointment. When I complained, they played dumb - the owner said she would ask the owner, and she never even had the decency to call me back. I also was really upset to learn that she charged a previous credit card I had on file without even asking me if I wanted to use the same card again. To the comments about the "rudeness" of this company: I wouldn't say they're rude, they're just very honest with you and if you act like a jerk to them, chances are you're getting attitude back. They're cheap, they fulfill your order, they will respond to your inquiries via phone or email right away--they'll get the job done. We had a big wedding order and almost everything was perfect except for the napkins. I ordered a few different colors for the napkins because I thought it would look pretty on our wood rustic tables, but instead of mint I got sage green, instead of light pink I got salmon, and although I liked the light yellow color, they didn't have enough so replaced the remaining napkins with a neon, highlighter yellow. When I called the store and explained that the colors didn't match what's on their website, they offered to exchange all the napkins for ivory ones AND were willing to deliver them (a 40 minute drive) at no extra charge.
