I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

Food: - Chicken liver pate: 10/10 SOOOO good! The bread that comes with it is amazing too. There is some sweet jam that is paired with it also. It doesn't overpower the main pate flavor, but I could probably do without the sweetness. - Pressed leeks: 10/10 I haven't had leeks too often in my life but this was really good! The sauce that they put it on pairs so well with it and really makes the dish. Must try even if you think you don't like leeks. - Venison tartare: my husband loves tartare and mustard so he loved this dish. I despise mustard and am lukewarm on tartare. The mustard taste was so strong. I hated this dish but I'm also not a good critic for it, so no rating from me. - Pappardelle: 7/10 Simple and classic. Not worth getting on your first visit but a nice dish on its own. - Butternut squash: 8/10 I can't remember much about this dish except that I enjoyed it :) - Pork collar Milanese: 9/10 Like a much better version of a schnitzel - Dumplings: 9/10 Just read the description on the menu and you know it's gonna be good. Ricotta? Brown butter? Yup amazing! Creamy, delicate, but not just a big mush that makes me want to gag. - Lamb ribs: 9/10 Nicely smoked, all around good balanced flavor - Wagyu bavette: 10/10 So good! Tender and juicy. But at this point in the meal, I'm usually pretty stuffed and the portion size is pretty decent. I would enjoy it even more if we didn't always order so many other small plates haha - Mushrooms: 9/10 Mushroom haters, please try this! You may change your mind! It changed my friend's mind that also doesn't like mushrooms. Service: - Always a good time. Checks in but not overbearing. Ambiance is slightly upscale but still relaxed. Doesn't feel uppity. - One time, we got free dessert. We were the last party in there so they probably just wanted to get rid of it. The cookie was so good! I've also been for brunch but have since forgotten what we've ordered. I just remember enjoying it a lot more than expected. Can't wait to go back again!

We decided to get a bunch of dishes and share. 10/10- chicken liver pâté with seasonal jam and focaccia - smooth - creamy - paired with the sweet jam 7/10 -kanpachi crudo, satsuma ponzu, crispy sunchoke, mustard seed - fish was tender - slight sweet and crunch bits 9/10- mesquite smoked lamb ribs, white BBQ sauce, rosemary - Lamb was very tender and fell of the bone, sauce was tangy. 10/10- marinated mussels on grilled bread, calico' beans - mussels were flavorful, bread was toasted just right provided a nice vehicle for all the toppings. I enjoyed this dish. 9/10 - pork collar milanese, white anchovy, fennel, apple. - very balanced - savory crispy pork and the topping gave freshness and sweet and tanginess. 8/10- roast chicken and potatoes, lemon aioli, herbed schmaltz - dining companions enjoyed the this dish - moist chicken and potatoes were tasty 5/10 - campanelle, crawfish, Calabrian chile, crab butter - pasta was nice but the spicy sauce overpowered the crab butter and crawfish.

I received a text after an hour that our table is ready so we entered and the lady on the reception told us to wait. So we sitted inside and infront of the reception. We patiently waited then I received another text that my name was removed in the waiting list. I thought maybe bec I'm already inside and already spoke to the reception. I thought it was normal to wait that long since from the review it's about 2-3hours waiting. We wait another hour. I cannot hold already my patience and we are hungry. I approached the reception again and to find out that me and my kids are waiting for nothing and wasting our time. Reception said that she message me twice that our table is ready. I told yea we are here inside on that 1st text but this lady told us to wait and remain sitted. So I don't know who's at fault if that lady forgot to tell to those handling the reservation or they ignored her. I don't know if we will come back again here bec of this waiting time. Maybe don't go there if you are too much hungry. Overall, the rest of my stars goes to food, the place and to Thyler (i forgot how his name spells). He's awesome! He took picture for us and even printed it for us to take home for free.

Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.

Menu is on a QR code on napkin box or u can ask for paper menu. ALOT of variety. Burrito, chicken and waffles, donuts, chicken wings, spam and eggs, bulgogi kimchi fries, country fried steak and more. Ordered 1. Ube Waffle- Warm, creamy, buttery, fresh waffle taste, delicious! Would order again and again 2. Bulgogi Kimchi fries- I was not expecting them to be this good as kimchi has a very strong fermented, acidic flavor. SO GOOD. There wasn't tons of kimchi on the fries, they have mayo and hosin sauce on them with cliantro and other stuff. did I say SO GOOD? Would order again and again as a shareable between friends. 3. Country Fried Steak, sunny side up eggs and cheesy hash- I did not expect it to be so tender. The pepper flavor hit me right away. The runny eggs with some hash on the fork, delicious combo. 4. Viet style Steak and eggs- My friend ordered it, it's his second time ordering. He loves it. It comes with a salad, dressing and two how u want'em eggs. The steak is marinated and tender. Service was fast. I had a mimosa, it wasn't too orangey or too champagney. I loved the glass it came it, stylish and tapered upwards. Would try a different drink next time. They have a lot of different drinks. Overall, the visit has me wanting more, especially hearing about their unique donuts. Already looking forward to next visit. Gonna try other things in the menu. While the waitstaff alerted us that they were about to close, we assured them that we would order quickly. The inside has a number of tables of different sizes and while it was basically empty since they were about to close, it seems like a spot that large families and friends would go to enjoy dinner together. Around the tables, the decor pays tribute to the heritage of the dishes with a large rural of the Mayan pyramids, hand-carved art, and traditional pottery on display. For food, we ordered the shrimp and beef fajitas, which came out quickly. The sizzling platters were accompanied by a personal tortillas warmer with choice of flour or corn tortillas, and a large plate with rice, beans, guacamole, and a pico de gallo which was very heavy on the cilantro. The serving sizes were generous including the protein portions. I like my food pretty spicy and noticed that the dish could have used a little more kick but understand that that is not everyone's preference. I will say that their grilled onions on the fajita platters were fantastic. It's worth noting that there are several other well-known Mexican restaurants on this street, however Merida's prices are not as expensive. Our fajita plates were about $15 each. To complement my meal, I ordered a rocks margarita which came in a large glass but was not my favorite. It tasted a bit artificial and not like it had been prepared from fresh lime juice. I'm not sure that I would order this drink again Overall, a solid spot. It's definitely worth a try.

The chicken soup is my favorite, and the fact that they pack it with such care to keep it hot and they even packed the soup separately from the veggies and chicken that go in it. I definitely recommend this place for authentic deliscious Mexican food.
