From the initial check-in, to the nurse, to finally seeing the doctor almost an hour later... no one moved with any urgency whatsoever. Meanwhile, staff were casually talking about who was going to lunch--as if nothing was happening--while my child was there bleeding. And the worst part? We were there for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS just to get four stitches. This isn't the first time either. The lack of care, the slow response, the complete disregard for patients--it's becoming a pattern at this hospital. Unacceptable.

It was also very hard when I first started my search for a licensed mental health professional to figure out who I could possibly trust and feel comfortable with in sharing knowledge of my family's most private struggles. But after reviewing one website after another of possible candidates I could meet with in our local area, I decided to go with my gut feeling and made an appointment to see Dr. Babette Rosabal. It must have been fate because quite instantly, and unexpectedly, I started to open up to her and shared with her more about myself and my family than I ever thought I would feel comfortable in doing during a first meeting. This is a testament to the very professional and yet equally approachable way about her. Since then, I have had 7-8 sessions with her and I feel immensely fortunate to have her as my therapist. From the way she speaks to you, looks and smiles at you, warmly invites you to share whatever troubles you, listens and responds to you without judgement but instead offers you advice by way of providing another perspective/lens by which to view the situation you are in, you will no doubt find her to be fully engaged and wholeheartedly committed to helping you work things out. She is always calm, focused and yet very relaxed, intently listening versus writing notes throughout, and you can sense that she is a natural in helping people through their emotional conflicts. Just having the opportunity to be able to open up and share my concerns and troubles with her has been so relieving to me. The great trust I have in her is evident by the fact that I have also had each of my kids privately meet with her as well. I don't think I could more strongly state what a benefit she has been to my family. Dr. Rosabal is definitely someone who elevates her profession and I am writing this review to help others know that she is someone worth meeting. If you are contemplating psychotherapy/counseling for the first time or are just searching for a therapist that you may better connect with, I would highly recommend you call Dr. Rosabal. That cluelessness turned to fear and panic when we found out it was high risk. Luckily, we were referred by my regular OBGYN to perinatologist Dr. Carbone-Lazarus. She went above and beyond to explain everything to us. Each time we visited her she answered all of our questions. She is highly knowledgeable but down to earth. The triage nurse was very friendly and always had a great attitude and our ultrasound technician was an angel. The office itself is great. We never had to wait more than a few minutes. I'd strongly urge you to valet your car, it is complimentary (tip in cash) and saves so much time and headache of the garage. We got into a routine of valet and take elevator to 5th floor in sometimes less than a minute. Overall I would 10/10recommend Dr. Carbone-Lazarus to anyone looking for a caring and competent doctor!

Her office staff borders on incompetent. They are indifferent and incapable of even the most basic follow up tasks. Concern for the patient is not a concern here. Dr. Jacques recommended I get a highly invasive test during my pregnancy which resulted in no new information - she knew I had had non invasive prenatal testing and still recommended an invasive procedure and the test results are identical to the NIPT, nothing new was learned from the test. Her office never answers their phone, they take a daily 2 hour lunch break (WTF?!) where a useless answering service 'takes messages' if even. They do not call you back if you ask for a call back nor if you get disconnected. They exhibit no customer service. They didn't answer the phone for an entire day when I was trying to schedule an emergency procedure. Beyond horrible.

During our second visit, while I was speaking with the receptionist, my child was standing next to…read moreme at the front desk. There were business cards displayed on the desk within reach. My child picked up one stack and was simply holding and moving the cards from one hand to another. The receptionist addressed my child in a noticeably rude tone and said, "Put those cards back." I responded that my child had done nothing harmful to the cards. She repeated herself in an even harsher manner and stated that the cards were not meant to be played with and that my child had to put them back. I took the cards and showed that they were not bent, damaged, written on, or torn -- my child had simply been holding them. At that point, one of the doctors joined the conversation. He introduced himself as being in charge of the clinic and spoke in what I considered to be a nasty, aggressive, and disrespectful tone. During the conversation, I told him that this was not an appropriate way to speak to people and that, as a psychologist, he should know how to communicate with people. His response was, "Yes, and as a psychologist, I see what stands in front of me," which I found deeply disrespectful and dehumanizing. Another issue that was brought up during this argument involved a small table in the waiting area. During a previous visit, my child stepped on the lower support piece underneath the table and it broke. At our next visit, the staff mentioned it to me. I apologized, and nothing further was said about it, so I believed the situation had been resolved. However, during this disagreement, the doctor brought it up again and said that we had broken their table. I reminded him that this had already been discussed. Since the table appeared old and the paint was visibly chipped and worn, I offered to replace it with a similar new table that I estimated would cost around $50. However, he stated that I owed him $200 for it. The broken piece was not the table itself but a lower support piece that did not affect its functionality. What surprised me was that an issue I believed had already been resolved was brought back up during an unrelated conflict. He then stated that clients like us were not welcome and asked us to leave the clinic. I told them that we also would not continue visiting a place where staff raise their voices at children and treat families disrespectfully. I asked to cancel all future appointments and prepared to leave. However, the interaction continued. The doctor remained angry, continued raising his voice, and followed us as we were leaving the clinic. At that point, I said that I would leave a review about this clinic because people deserve to know how clients are treated here. His response was that if I did that, he would sue me. I asked what legal grounds there would be for that -- because my child touched business cards that were left openly accessible and were not damaged in any way? In my opinion, a mental health clinic that works with children should demonstrate patience, emotional regulation, and respectful communication. In my experience, the staff's behavior toward my child and toward me was dismissive, confrontational, and inconsistent with the supportive environment I expected from a children's psychological and psychiatric practice. Parents deserve to know about experiences like this before choosing where to seek help for their children.
