I was scheduled into SSC for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy to be done concurrently. Because of the pre-surgery prep, I was starving, exhausted and anxious. The staff at SSC were awesome from the first walk through the door to escorting me to my car after the procedures. I was the first procedure of the day. I was greeted and taken back by Wendy who was an absolute HOOT. She had me laughing and joking and so relaxed, I never gave another thought to anything negative. I was greeted by several other nurses and attendants, my doctor, the anesthetist...and each and everyone I met was pleasant, seemed happy to be there and it made me happy to be there too. I'll start this off by saying, that I've worked in several surgery centers in the OR, so being the patient was a little odd. Specialty Surgery Center is very well run. The facility was very clean & followed COVID-19 protocol. The online pre-registration for medical history was very user friendly. I received a call a few days before my procedure to confirm my copay & went over any out of pocket expenses. (Pathology) I had my colonoscopy procedure done yesterday (12-13-21). My registrar, Kymm, was very friendly & thorough with all the paperwork. My pre-op nurse, Valerie, was amazing !! My IV went in on the 1st stick. Being dehydrated from the prep cleanse made it hard to find a vein. Tammy & Nadin were my OR Nurses and Jacqui was my Tech assisting the Doctor. All three were very friendly & hooked me up to the monitors. After the propofol hit my IV line I was out. My procedure was about 30 minutes. Best sleep ever !!!! My recovery room nurse, Hilary, was beyond funny & professional. They had an assortment of drinks & snacks to choose from after surgery. The whole experience from start to finish was spot on. It was very organized & the nursing staff was beyond amazing !! read more

Pros-The facility is very clean. The front desk people are lovely and helpful. My personal doctor and anesthesiologist are great. Cons- This is like having a procedure in a fast food restaurant!! I had an endoscopy yesterday. My nurse acted like she was on speed. Running and speaking 90 miles an hour. She's so hyped up that she put the IV into an artery according to what she was yelling. I'm not looking because I don't do blood. I hear her going frantic then two other nurses thankfully come in and stop the bleeding and reinsert the IV elsewhere. I come out of the procedure and I have a nickel size cut and a bruise on my left arm that wasn't there when I came there. I'm seeing that my left arm was bandaged. I'm still loopy from the anesthesia. My doctor pointed it out when I was coming to, but all I remember saying is that I didn't have this when I came in. It wasn't discussed further. I had an endoscopy, so it's not in an area that he was in. They come in and release me. I dress myself, they did ask if I needed help. Then they ask if I can walk out to the car. I say "yes". I'm still stoned. I most likely would say "yes" to anything. I should have been put in a wheelchair and wheeled to my friend's awaiting car. They walk my wobbling self out to his car. I can appreciate that the doctors are double booked to see their patients. Unfortunately more and more of us need care. However, we need good care. Proper care. They need to slow down and pay attention to what they are doing. I shouldn't come out worse than when I went in. I will never go here again. If I have to switch doctors to be seen somewhere else, I will. read more

July 30th Sunday 8:30am Doctor & nurse is on the shit list Jerry had stitches out on Thursday July 27th 9 days after surgery It was to soon to pull the stitches out, l doctor told the nurse to pull the stitches out she put bandages on it & sent jerry home no follow up no nothing. Notice Friday at another appt back of his shirt was all bloody where the cut was in back of the shirt it was to late to get a hold of the surgery doctor his doctor who did it. All weekend the sore been wide open leaking puss & blood on all his shirts threw all the bandages. This is bs Monday morning I'll be calling that surgery doctor & go to his office give them hell & show every one the pictures & videos of the fk up work they did Wish I can send pictures & videos what they did & what's happening read more

I was scheduled to come in for a procedure at a specific time. Got a phone call from the surgery center asking if I would be able to come in early. I hurried out of the house and arrived early. The waiting room was crowded and there weren't many places to sit, and it was uncomfortably cold. It was clean, chairs were taped off for social distancing requirements, and everyone was required to wear a mask. Sat for an hour before I was checked in. Can't figure out why they asked me to come in early when they were clearly behind schedule. Was finally taken back to prep about 90 minutes after my arrival. The nurse was very nice, but I sat in the office prep and waited another 15 minutes until a bed became available. I have very small veins that never cooperate. Told the nurses about my vein issues before they started my IV. Took 6 tries and the vein finder machine before they were able to get my IV in successfully. I was thinking that they should have used the vein finder immediately since I advised them that they'd have an issue with my veins. Not sure why I was stuck so many times before they used the vein finder machine. Again, the staff were super nice, so even thought it wasn't fun getting stuck so many times, their kindness made me not mind it so much. The Anesthesiologist was very nice and the procedure went well. The nurses in recovery were also amazing. They make sure your ride is there and then walk you out to the car and make sure you're good. All in all I was there about 4 hours, which was about two hours longer than when I've had this same procedure a couple of times before. If I hadn't waited so long, and gotten stuck so many times, it would have been a five star experience. The staff was great and made the experience bearable albeit long. I'd go back. read more

Let me start off by expressing how much of a nervous wreck I was going here. Controlled Sedation can be a scary thing if you don't know what to expect. I was scheduled for a Endoscopy and my heart rate and blood pressure was through the roof! Literally, my fiancé was like "You need to calm down!" Lol. What made this a 5 star experience for me was the entire staff I had the pleasure of dealing with. Usually when you go to these places they try to get you in and out like cattle. Everyone from start to finish provided nothing but the utmost care, patience, knowledge and professionalism! I felt more at ease. They could read my body language very well and knew I was stressed out and were very supportive. Everything from the front desk, to the RN Nurse (Sandy, was the best!) to the Anesthesiologist, to the recovery nurse (Even though I probably annoyed her being all loopy afterwards, lol) and my very own Gastroenterologist, Dr. Faris were fantastic! This review is in not a criticism of the doctors at this facility but is meant to warn military or retired military folks using Tricare medical insurance. I don't like to give negative reviews but this situation was frustrating and may help other military families. All patients, even non military, should closely check the information handout they give you before going home to ensure it pertains to your specific procedure. The pre-surgery info we were given did not include anything about voiding the bowels (for a colonoscopy!) but only mentioned generic things like no alcohol 24 hours, etc. and it took me 3 full days of tag team phone calls to get them to email me an information sheet that included the specific over the counter medications required for the night before surgery. They claim to accept Tricare and we checked the "Tricare" box on their form and provided account info but when the bill came it did not include Tricare as the 2nd insurance and we were billed for the consult. Even though I was calm and polite when I called the Specialty Surgery Center office at 7250 W Cathedral Rock to inquire, the receptionist was rude and angrily hung up on me mid-sentence. We were on the line together maybe 90 seconds. I tried to call back many times the rest of the day but nobody would answer; I figure (speculation only) they have a readout of incoming phone numbers. Front desk receptionists, or at least the one I spoke to, should not be in a position to deal with customers if they have a rude disposition. If you call the information number they text to you, you can hear roosters crowing in the background and the operator has a heavy accent so it obviously rings overseas. Unlike the local front desk at 7250 W Cathedral Rock, the overseas operator was cordial and polite though nearly as uninformed. Dr. Christian Stone is probably a skilled doctor and the medical side of the house may be top notch but the administrative side of the house is a calamitously mismanaged dumpster fire. They don't answer phones during lunch and any other time of day if you do get through the maze of phone tag everyone you talk to says it's someone else's purview and transfers you or provides another number to call. I would not recommend the Specialty Surgery Center to military or retired military folks unless you enjoy sitting for hours on the phone trying to untangle payment issues between Tricare, rude receptionists at Special Surgery Center and the surgeon's office. I don't want to paint with a broad stroke, it was only one receptionist I spoke to and hung up on me. I cancelled the colonoscopy procedure and will try to schedule at the Nellis AFB hospital and I suggest other military families save yourself some trouble and do the same. read more

My son had his surgery here on 12/27 and I'm quite impressed with this location. We've been all over the valley at different hospitals/Medical Offices - Summerlin, Centennial, Mountain View, Desert Radiology, Sunrise Hospital etc, and this place - Specialty Surgery Center at Cathedral Rock is really nice! It wasn't too bad to get to. It's off of the 95/Cheyenne. If you take a local street, Tenaya down for about a mile, you'll cross Cathedral Rock. There is spacious parking. Inside the entrance, there is plenty of seating. We had a early morning arrival, but by the time we left, around 10:30 A.M, the place was packed!! There is only two vending machines with drinks/snacks. The receptionists were friendly and throughout. They were able to sort out my insurances within the hour. My son was taken on-time for prep, and the doctors/anesthesiologist was there on-time. The recovery room specialist could have had more care for my son. He woke up very ill from the anesthesia and the recovery room specialist wasn't there for him. We had to wait several minutes for new clothing, bedding etc from the recovery room specialist. I've had better care for my son in the recovery room at Summerlin and Sunrise. Overall though, it was a very positive experience and would recommend coming back here. We were in and out of the surgery center in under 4 hours! read more

There were no long waits at all and every staff member I interacted with was pleasant and seemed happy to be there. I was so upset that I didn't receive a "patient satisfaction survey" after my surgery. So many people and nurses at this Surgery Center really need to be recognized. Marie: The woman that registered me in was amazing......so much personality and actually was such a caring person Valerie: Was my pre surgery nurse......I cannot say enough about this woman, she was amazing......my blood pressure was high and she did everything to calm me down and her personalty keep me laughing the entire time.. Tina: I don't remember too much she was my procedure nurse but she must have done an excellent job because I'm here to talk about it Rizza: Was my recovery room nurse......and she would not take anything less than 100% recovery.....how she pampered me. Lori: Made sure I was comfortable until I got there. My anesthesiologist Was Dr. Bishop, what a remarkable woman......I have COPD and use a breathing machine at home.....and after 2 years she showed me the proper way to use it hahah......She gave me good tips for after surgery.....and she would not let me go into surgery without having a breathing treatment.....I felt so safe and secure going into surgery with her by my side.......and afterwards she came and checked on me to make sure I was ok All of these women were amazing and probably all deserve a raise, they all went above and beyond read more

My visit to Specialty Surgery Center was as pleasant as it could be under the circumstances. I was there to have a cataract removed and this is where my doctor operates. This is a sister property to the Las Vegas Surgery Center near Charleston and Rancho. After signing in just before 7 AM, I waited for about 5 minutes when my name was called and I was shown to my prep area. All the standard things were done by a very nice nurse who was very easy going and efficient. The rooms were spotless and everyone was looking out for my needs. I shortly met the nurse for the operation and then the anesthesiologist came by to introduce himself. After vitals were taken and the line was put in my wrist, I was wheeled to the room where the operation took place. Since my head was taped to its resting block, I couldn't tell you what it look like except for the stunningly bright lights above. A half hour later, I was wheeled to recovery where I hopped off the bed and sat in a chair until my ride came. Everyone at the Specialty Surgery Center was polite, friendly, and competent people. I imagine I'll be seeing them in a few months for the other eye. I won't mind going and I won't be as apprehensive as I was this morning. read more

Very relaxing and the least anxiety I've had with any surgery. (And I have had a lot) All forms were done quickly. Check in was quick, clean and not too crowded. I noticed it really depends on your doctor and their schedule to how long you wait, as another patient in preop area came in after me but was taken back before. Dislikes are how I waited an hour in preop bed without TV access, so I just stared at the clock, however it does make it nice and quiet which is ideal when worrying about upcoming surgery. Also I emailed my allergy list twice but front desk never received it. However I was able to provide the email to the prep nurse and she took care of it. I completely recommend this place and hope any future surgeries are done here. They even called and sent me a letter hoping my recover was going well. Can't beat that! read more

My Mom had a couple of outpatient tests here last week, and I was impressed with what I saw of the facilities and staff. Front desk was pretty cheerful for 0630 on a stormy morning, we had her checked in within minutes. She was called back in a reasonable amount of time, I left my contact info for them to call me to retrieve her, they called before I left the car park to make sure they had the correct contact info. A few hours later, one of their very sweet Recovery Nurses called to say she was ready, so I was buzzed in the back entry to pick her up. Two incredibly kind and caring nurses were with her - she was quite wonky from twilight anesthesia - and gave me her release instructions. I wish I could remember their names, they were both Filipino ladies: one older with short hair, and a younger, long haired lady; I just wanted to hug them both (and I'm quite non-tactile :) They followed up the next day with a phone call to check on our patient who has 0 memory of her anesthesia induced shenanigans, which is a good thing. I'd definitely suggest this center for a medical procedure. read more

Marie, Tania, Victoria, Tina, Michelle, Hillary & Lesley were an amazing team and I want to say Thank you. To begin with, It should be noted that my 22 yr old daughter was having a laparoscopy surgery and since it was her first time for any procedures, she was nervous. The registrar, Marie, got us checked in quickly and was very friendly and helpful. Then we had the pleasure of getting the best pre-op nurse, Tania. I simply can not say enough great things about her abilities. She was able to calm my daughter's nerves and did a wonderful job with prepping her for surgery with all that entails. She was AMAZING! And so appreciated by mom & daughter for making this experience a good one considering. On to the surgical nurse and tech, Victoria/Tina and Michelle... they either got word their patient was nervous or just saw it on her face and also did a great job of comforting her on top of their other duties ... some nurses just truly care and go the extra mile to help. Hillary and Lesley did a wonderful job of helping in recovery and making sure she was comfortable. I am sure they didn't realize they had helped as much as they did because you could tell that the entire staff treat all patients this way which is why I wanted to take the time to show our appreciation. read more

My wife had two procedures here and I was pleasantly surprised how warm and friendly the entire staff was. At other medical centers it is just people working in a mechanical and cold fashion with no regard to the "human" piece of medicine. At the Specialty Surgery Center, from the time of check-in to the time to leave the entire staff were incredible and friendly with my wife and me. Have had a few outpatient procedures over the years and SSC is at the top of the list (along with NewYork-Presbyterian) for having had an outstanding experience. Every single person I interacted with was simply amazing. I could not have felt more concerned for, from start to finish (although one small con, I felt rushed by the recovery room nurse after waking up from the procedure -- but it was such a minor thing that I do not want that aspect to detract from my overall experience). The day before I'm supposed to go to San Jose my friend texts me and asks me if I can take him to his surgery... at 6am! We get here around 530am and its super quiet and dead. The check in nurse was very nice and gave him papers to fill out. We sat there watching CNN for a while and he was called for his surgery. I sat there for 2 hours and watched the tv and crazy people in the waiting room. The room is actually very clean and has some spacious chairs, vending machines and a bathroom are also there. A little while later his doctor came out and let me know he was alright and they were just waiting for his meds to wear off. His nurse came out 30mins later and she was seriously the nicest lady ever! We exchanged stories about my friends hbp and her hubbys! She explained everything to me and I signed off on his papers. We waited a little until the helper came to let us out and walk us to the car (that way my friend wouldn't drive off all drugged up!) The staff here are all super super nice and the location is quiet and easy to find. Yay! read more
