They totally took advantage of my mother and scammed her. She hired them to do her sale, and they tried to back out at the last minute, claiming there wasn't enough inventory. They had seen the house when they made the initial agreement but had not taken an inventory so had no evidence to suggest that anything that they were anticipating selling was missing. My mom was desperate because time was of the essence, so she begged them, and they finally agreed to a 70/30 split. It gets worse... they put a sticker on every single little thing, and the stickers they used do not come off easily. The prices they put on these stickers seemed random, and way too high to be for real. For example, a small wooden carved bird with no identifying marks to indicate its provenance was priced at $39.00! And an old worn-out Tupperware bowl was marked $9.99! They claimed that they didn't even make $1,000.00 and listed only a few things on the "sold inventory" sheet they included with the check to my mom for less than $300.00. I had looked at the set-up the day before the sale, and some of the things, e.g., one wooden ladder with wool Indian blankets (sold) was marked over $599.00 - just for the ladder. It gets worse... One of the neighbors saw the guy (suspect: Don) peeing in the front yard, and yet they left the bathroom looking worse than any gas station bathroom I've ever seen! I very rarely leave negative reviews for businesses in my community because I want them to thrive, but I had to warn others to be very wary of these people.

From our very first interaction, our experience with their team, particularly with Kim, was nothing short of exceptional. Kim not only demonstrated an impressive degree of politeness and unwavering professionalism but also exhibited profound knowledge and clear expertise regarding the intricate estate sale process. We were especially grateful for Kim's remarkably swift turnaround in conducting the initial comprehensive walkthrough of the home, which efficiently determined the feasibility and scope of the sale. Moving forward with their services was seamless, underscored by a transparent and equitable 60/40 split agreement, which instilled immediate confidence. Subsequently, the dedicated team from "A Touch of Class" meticulously handled every detail, from the precise pricing of each item to the artful staging of the entire collection. Their efficient, respectful, and thoroughly professional approach to preparation was truly remarkable, culminating in a highly successful and well-attended three-day estate sale. We were profoundly impressed by their adept capability to manage the entire complex process with such a high degree of expertise, sensitivity, and organizational finesse. We wholeheartedly and confidently recommend "A Touch of Class Estate Sales by Don" to any individual or family requiring reliable, compassionate, and supremely professional estate sale assistance during what can often be a very difficult period. Since then, we've signed up on their email list and have gone to almost every sale they've had. Frank and his team are very professional, friendly, helpful and honest. Everyone seems to enjoy what they do and are knowledgeable about what's in the house for sale. It is a very fun and lively atmosphere, which makes it even more enjoyable to go to. What I've noticed from an AHES sale, as opposed to the others we've now been to, is that they are respectful of the house and their owners too. That has not always been the case with other estate sale companies. My husband and I are now experienced buyers who don't mind digging a little to find unexpected or long lost treasures (to us). We'll continue to go to their sales, if not to find something old/new and interesting, but just to say hi to Frank and his team. What a great company with even better people!

I needed a company on short notice, and American was the only one available. Initially, I found…read morethem to be open and cordial, and felt they were reputable. That's the key word,"reputable". They were NOT, but I didn't find out until the sale was over. First, I was told they had a HUGE following on Facebook, but my friends and I could never find info on Facebook, or anywhere else on social media or on their website. I asked if signs had been posted around the neighborhood. "Oh, yes, we have lots of signs all around." Again, my neighbors drove all around the area, and found ONE sign. I was assured there would be an ad in the paper, but none had ever appeared. ALL THESE LIES BECAME EVIDENT because the turnout was extremely low, and the agent said he was so surprised because there were usually crowds of people at his sales. I must agree with the review of Melissa S., the woman, although pleasant when we first met, turned out to be rude and intimidating. HERE'S THE REAL PROBLEM - THE MONEY. At the end of the sale, I RECEIVED A CHECK AND A RECEIPT WHICH DID NOT LIST WHAT ITEMS WERE SOLD. Therefore, I had no idea what was sold and for what price. Any amount of items could have been sold and not recorded....how would anyone know? Considering the home was 3,500 sq.ft., and filled with many pricey items, including jewelry, the total sum we received was not at all consistent with the items sold, nor with the prices they listed on the various items . THE VERY LAST STRAW!! There was a long, black mink coat which belonged to someone from the frigid weather back East, worth upward of $5,000. We asked how he would price it, and he said he would leave the price open so he could negotiate with anyone interested. We told him not to sell it for less than $1,500, UNLESS HE CALLED US PRIOR TO SELLING IT so that we could discuss it. HE AGREED. HE THEN SOLD IT FOR $50 AND NEVER CALLED US PRIOR TO SELLING IT, as agreed. He claimed some little old lady came in at the end of the sale and she was freezing SO HE FELT SORRY FOR HER AND SOLD IT TO HER FOR $50!!!! Time does not allow me to list ALL the "questionable'' activities during that sale, but I would be more than willing to speak with anyone at American Estates who may feel these statements are false or inaccurate in any way. THEY ARE NOT.

Once I signed the contract, couldn't do a thing. Was recommended by my community, but they remembered when a woman owned it and she was wonderful; came to our community many times with excellent results. No one will use him now, he isn't allowed here. Paul wasn't just rude to me but rude to the management at our community building. His people were there several days early getting ready. I live across the street, so I video taped those folks carrying things out to their car. Pretty "sketchy" people. Paul states that those items were paid for. BULL. He brought in so much of his own CRAP to sell that you could hardly see the antiques available or all the other lovely items. I told him NOT TO SET UP in the back room, as there was a mold issue. He disregarded it and when I told him to get the stuff out of there due to health and legal issues with customers, he turned into a complete ass. When all over, many of our items didn't sell (PRICES WAY TOO HIGH) and in the end, floors were scratched. Of course no comment from Paul. After speaking with many other estate sale groups in Albuquerque I found out that none of them have much respect for him. They have heard these stories over and over. I go to estate sales, and tell the story. No one is surprised! Paul has owned this business for around 5 years. It's not even in his name due to some issue with his last business. This guy is a rip off! DON'T USE HIM. He kept 60% and took the remaining items. A couple of unprofessional "liquidators" were there a few days to collect what was left. Coming in late at night, needed to call me to get through the gate, unprepared for the load. Paul really scrapes the bucket for his workers! WISH I used the first company I contacted, but they didn't have a schedule that worked for me. The homeowner was very quickly placed in a nursing home due to medical issues and I had to sell her assets as quickly as I could. Didn't know how screwed we'd be. Paul is a total ass -- karma is definitely waiting for him. Again, NONE of his peers will have anything to do with him. SAVE YOURSELF -- GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY! BUYER BEWARE!!! :^{ Punk in pink shoes.

I originally signed the contract in June, and was not told that I would have to wait months, incurring storage fees for the estate during the time. I had to move everything out of my Mother's house in late July because the gated community where she previously lived, Tanoan, did not allow estate sales. I was sent an abrupt text message a few days ago informing me that for unknown reasons, Talbott Auctions would not be able to handle the estate sale. This was quite a shock, since I was looking forward to liquidating the estate and closing the book on my Mom's move and relocation into a retirement home. I had previously brought to their storefront 10 heavy boxes of books that I had hoped would be included in the estate sale. I was told that I needed to provide an address where they could be delivered. Now the boxes are sitting on my front porch and I am not sure where to store them, since all of my garage space is taken up. This is very disappointing to me and my three siblings since we have virtually no time to deal with this because of busy work and family schedules. I am sorry that I didn't do more research about alternate estate sale companies/consignment stores.
