We tried Dr. Swann for our initial visit. We love Dr. Swann. She is thorough, patient, kind and helpful. She listens to my children, she explains herself, and she prompt in responding to issues. I have had some difficulty with the office. There has been several computer system changes (according to the office staff) which has lead to constantly having to update information, inability to log onto the patient portal, and mix-ups with insurance, parent, and payment information. I needed information for my child's school from the doctor's office. I was unable to log in to the patient portal to request the information. I tried to schedule an appointment online and was not allowed to do so. I called the office to request the information. I was told it would be handled. Nothing. I hand delivered a written request. Again, nothing. 2 months later, I have finally scheduled an appointment! Here's hoping we can get all of this resolved before Christmas!

Unfortunately, my experience with the scheduling staff was disappointing. I repeatedly explained that I was simply trying to find out what was required to schedule a new patient appointment, but the conversation felt confusing, dismissive, and unnecessarily difficult. As someone seeking help while actively suffering from migraine symptoms, a little patience and kindness would have gone a long way. While I understand providers may not be accepting new patients, I left the call feeling frustrated and unsupported rather than informed. I hope the clinic can improve the way new patient inquiries are handled, especially for people already dealing with significant health challenges. Very rude staff.

Nobody else's name was said at any point during my signing up. When I arrived, I was told I'm seeing someone named Jason, who within the first 5 minutes of the appointment became judgemental and condescending. When I had my practitioner switched to Dr Narron, again, the person I was told I was going to see, it seemed fine for the first 3 weeks. Then I noticed that every appointment (I was seeing him WEEKLY) he had to spend 10-15 minutes of the 30 minute appointment looking at his notes to try and remember who I was. Every medicine he prescribed didn't help me, only gave me awful side effects, like rapid weight gain, rage episodes, and near total emotional death. He constantly forgot my therapist's name, which could cause issues with insurance. Lastly, he never seemed like he knew what was happening, as if he was high or just not mentally there.

I have been a client for many years dealing with both minor and major health issues. Dr. Weizman is my primary doctor but I have seen some of the others in the practice. He is one of the best doctors in Asheville. He returns every call or email I send within the same day. Most times it is after office hours but he DOES return your calls. Never had any problems making appointments. The Front Desk folks are top notch. If they can't get me in that day, they easily set me up for the next day. The nurses, PA's, lab crew and everyone in the office has always been quite good at their jobs. They answer all of my many questions and concerns and also relay them to my doctor if he needs to follow-up. I'm never rushed through any part of my appointment. Dr. Weizman will review your lab work, his recommendations or records from my other doctors. I never leave feeling confused or concerned about my health. These are the people you want taking care of you when you're not feeling too good. I highly recommend the whole practice if you need them.

It actually was a blessing in disguise when I found Dr. Ann Smith with Apple Valley Family Medicine! I was happily surprised when I met her, very knowledgeable, personable and she took time to thoroughly answer my questions and concerns, I didn't feel rushed as I always had at my previous Doctor. I have been experiencing joint pain in my knees and ankles for the last few years, Dr. Smith recommended a treatment plan and said I'd feel better in two weeks and I did and do. I am very grateful, previous Dr. just told me it was my age (54), a kind of get used to it answer. Needless to say, 5 stars to Dr. Smith and the Office environment was great as well.

If you want a dr to spend time really listening to you, & sussing out your medical issues, then you have to accept an occasional wait because that's also what he's doing with the patient that came before you. In a hurried world where many Dr's grab their prescription pads and barely listen before diagnosing and treating you, Dr.Gardner is a real find. I've been coming here for approximately 13 years, and he's always hit the nail on the head. Plus he has a lovely bedside personality, a sory of Zen calm demeanor, super intelligent, and smiles a lot. Mostly I appreciate his deductive skills, how he works all the clues I provide into a diagnosis, and then a plan. The office is clean and the front staff friendly. Free parking in the lot downstairs. An elevator to his office shuttles those with mobility problems. On the few occasions I've needed a same day appt, it was arranged by Cathy at the front desk, with a simple phone call from me. On weekends the dr is available on call, or his "call partner" is available. My understanding is that he is not taking new patients (but has partners who will). I assume he got too popular. However, I emailed him to ask if he would do me the favor of seeing my parents - who had recently relocated to the area and needed a dr- and he not only squeezed them in to his packed roster, but continued to see my mom weekly for a while (until she needed to graduate to higher and higher level specialists). Dr. Gardner is still all 3 of our's primary care physician though. I feel lucky to have blindly picked him out on the insurance website.
