I wanted Subway, the slightly healthier option, and my husband chose McDonald's. While he used the app to place his order, I stood at the counter to order my sub. There was a young lady there who greeted us with a smile and overheard me asking my husband what day of the week it was. She immediately knew I was checking to see what "The Meal Deal of the Day" was. It was the Hot Honey Pepperoni. She went to the back to let the Sandwich Artists know that they had a customer. The two young men emerged from the back with a lack of enthusiasm but came over to glove-up and help me. I asked for the Turkey Titan on wheat. They were out of wheat bread, so I chose the Herb & Cheese bread and asked for the rounded end to be cut off. He repeated my request slowly in the form of a question, so I explained what I meant. He must have never received that request before. I also asked for mayo on the bread, rather than on the meat, which is what they usually do. Lastly I requested that my 6" sub be cut in half. He completed my sub and slid it into a bag with no napkins, so I retrieved some myself. Then we moved into the convenience store area and grabbed some 2/$3 small cans of Pringles, a couple bottles of Calypso fruit drinks, and I couldn't resist the overpriced gas station Tornado (Southwest Chicken & Cheese). It was $2.99. Had I known that, I would not have purchased it. After using the restroom, my husband and I went over to McDonald's to pick up his order. The timing was perfect. I have passed by this old Convenient Food Mart store many times but finally made this stop after a recommendation by a close friend who is a big "foodie!" I knew a Meatloaf sandwich was going to be on the list so I went directly to the counter to pick one up, I also picked up a country ham sandwich and bottled water to eat in the front seat of my truck (there were no open seats available inside due to the local crowd occupying all the tables and seating), they were very busy. There was plenty of help, everybody was very helpful and friendly. The steam table had plenty of options for lunch or you can choose to have a deli sandwich made but the Meatloaf is piled high in a bun and it packs all the flavor you expect from a farmhouse kitchen table! I will be back soon and make this a regular lunch stop to try some of there other menu items when I am working in Shelbyville again!

I came after lunch time but they did advertise lunches, they were just gone so I'm not sure what they offered. The do require you spend $3 or $4 before they will run a card transaction but that's not a huge issue, just something of note and they do post that.
