I initially discovered the moving service on Yelp. I originally had a phone conversation with the owner Justin on 7/6. I advised him that I was interested in a local move as well as furniture assembly for a tv stand and a wall unit. He told me that he had 2 assemblers on his team and that he would send them to me the day of my move and that it would be either a $50 flat fee or $80 if the time went into an additional hour. He also told me that it would be $80/hr for 2 people as well as $100 flat fee for the uhaul truck. This was odd to me since moving companies traditionally have their own trucks. I confirmed the date but told him that I had to get back with him regarding the time. On Saturday 7/11, I contacted him again to give him my time of 9am. I reminded him of the furniture assembly as well as using face masks and disinfecting the truck----AS HIS AD STATES--first he states yeah, they wear facemasks then acted like he didn't know what disinfecting the truck would entail. I told him that I wanted him to have his crew spray the truck with disinfectant before my stuff was put into the truck. He said that he would buy disinfect spray to have that performed for me. On 7/14, I received a call from his mover Stefan who advised me that he would be at my residence at 9am. I mentioned the furniture assembly and Stefan told me that he was the assembler. I asked Stefan if he had the tools to do assemblies and to my surprise stated, "no ma'am". How does an assembler not have tools? However, I went out and purchased them. On 7/15, my moving day, I get a call from Stefan at 905 explaining to me that Justin texted him the night before and told him to contact me in the am to let me know that uhaul doesn't open until 10am. When I received the call, I was livid. Justin called me and I let him know how dissatisfied that I was and that he should have contacted me the night before just like he did his staff. He gave me the sorry excuse of: I only contact customers within business hours. He also told me that he got a uhaul that was in my town. That didn't make sense because I live in Lake Park, Ga which borders Valdosta as well as the fact that I was moving to Valdosta. At 1015am, I texted Stefan asking him if he'd picked up the truck or his ETA since I had to pick up my keys at the leasing office. Justin calls me and tells me that the Lake Park Uhaul didn't have any trucks. I couldn't believe that Justin was so incompetent that he botched up and delayed my move. He lied on Uhaul being the issue when in fact it was him. Instead of booking the uhaul on 7/11 when I confirmed the time he waited until the night before to book it. Also, a REAL business owner would have picked up the uhaul the night before to be prepared for business the following day to accommodate the customer's time. They had to go to Valdosta to get the uhaul so my move that was originally scheduled for 9am ends up starting at 1130am. The 2 movers arrived WITHOUT FACEMASKS AS WELL AS WITHOUT THE SANITIZER SPRAY!! I had to give them my Lysol to spray the truck. FYI, you must pay the $100 cash for the u haul as soon as they arrive. The truck was finally loaded at 1245. I received a call from my apt complex telling me that I had a cut off time of 2pm to get my stuff moved into the apt. I explained to the movers that time was of the essence. On the way to my new apartment, I lost sight of the moving truck. My daughter and I arrived 20 minutes prior to the movers. Once they finally arrived at 130pm, I explained to them again that we were in crunch time and had to be unloaded by 2pm.I told Stefan that he could assemble the furniture inside the truck after it is unloaded so that they would be assembled when I could enter at 430pm. First Stefan asked me if I was taking the uhaul back. I then stated, "NO, that's why I paid the extra $100 for the uhaul". The other mover then said to Stefan, you can build the furniture and I will unload the truck. Stefan then said, "I have to be honest with you, I don't know how to assemble furniture, I have to read the directions. Then he said that there wasn't going to be enough time. I paid for the moving service so that I wouldn't have to exhaust myself, especially since I had surgery but had to help unload the truck along with my daughter to get the unload accomplished quickly. We ended up finishing the truck at 230pm. Even though I was upset with the company, I still gave each mover a $5 tip. It was very hot and they did physical labor. After all the inconvenience that I went through as well as the 20-minute break that his movers took, I was charged the full $340! BTW They only accept cash. I would have been better off getting help from Craigslist and renting a UHaul. read more
