I went here for lunch time to try this new food truck. I had the chicken parm which is chdeep feied breaded chocken cutlet serhed wuth marinara sauce, fresh basil, mozzarella & marinara sauce served on a focaccia. Then little serving of curly fries. Just when you think you won't see another new food truck in good ole Brisbane Marina, along comes Speedy Panini. And speedy they were. During their first few days, you could tell they were still trying to get their system down, but even when they seemed to get backed up, they were on it, getting those sandwiches and lasagnas out their window. I have to say the polpette (meatball) panini was good and Grandma's lasagna was an pretty generous portion. The cannoli tasted good, but a bit small if you ask me. These guys have a lot of potential. i was @ edgewood eats last night, and so was the panini truck with their friendly italian staff and big smiles. in addition to paninis, they also sell lasagna, salad, and cannolis. note that this truck accepts credit cards, huge plus! here's what i ordered: pollo panini ($7) this sandwich was a nice, hearty size, and very filling. the chicken was seasoned/marinated/cooked very well, it was so tasty and juicy, absolutely delicious! they added mushrooms, some italian herbs, and provolone cheese to this panini which really enhanced the taste. my only complaint is that the bread was a little soggy, probably from the chicken juices flowing down as i was holding the sandwich vertically. also, it would have been nice to have some herbs/spices baked into the italian ciabatta bread. sicilian cannoli ($2) a sweet mix of pistachio nuts and chocolate chips blended into ricotta cheese. to this, i say, "la dolce vita!" it was delicious, i could have eaten more! food was great, and i'd definitely be back to try one of their other paninis and have more cannolis. $9 for a full dinner is pretty good. read more

Speedy Panini made its Moveable Feast debut today (11/26/11). I'm not sure if it was Graziano or Vittorio who was working in the truck, but he was very friendly. Too bad he didn't have any lasagne, but I tried the Pollo Panini, which was served on a nice crispy roll. The menu said my $7 sandwich was a marinated chicken breast, Portobello mushrooms, Italian herbs & Provolone cheese, tomato & pesto spread. The mushrooms looked more like button mushrooms, but I suppose they could've been Crimini (baby Portobello). Everything tasted good, and I liked the crunch from the bread. The only downfall was the cheese was cold and solid. It would've been better if the sandwich was warmed through with melted, gooey cheese. Friendly service and a tasty sandwich earns this new truck 4 stars. read more

The name is misleading. It is definitely not a 'speedy' truck. This is a pretty 'authentic' Italian food truck (or so I imagine). They play italian music, and have Italian paninis & pastas. Apparently, Renzo of 'Cafe Renzo' in Palo Alto is a cousin of the 'Speedy Panini' guy. I had a salsiccia panini & a cannoli. The salsiccia panini tasted very Italian. But other that that, I didn't really enjoy it too much. However, I suspect that their pastas are pretty good. The cannoli was a small one, but actually good. Not as fresh as Romolo's, but the shell had a nice crunch to it, and the filling was pretty flavorful. read more

Actually caught this truck at the Moveable Feast in Saratoga not in San Mateo, CA. But even though there was no line for this truck I think their Panini was very good. At Speedy Panini, after doing some research before coming I was intrigued to try the PolPette Panini which was made up of Mama's recipe meatball, marinara sauce, provolone cheese & basil. The sauce was oozing but good and tasted really homemade and fresh likewise with the meatball. Tasty and I would want to get another one someday. $7 each for all the Panini's. read more

I was pretty excited to try this truck, and it didn't exactly disappoint. The truck guys are quite friendly and, to my untrained senses, appear to be genuine Italians, accent and all, which adds a charming touch of authenticity to the experience. The Vegetariano was tasty, and they use the Acme ciabatta, so it's on decent bread as well, but I guess I am more used to a pressed panini and a panini that is warmed the whole way through. The cheese and tomatoes were as if they'd come straight out of the fridge, which was a little jarring at first bite because the bread was warm. Had the cheese been warm and gooey, this would be one seriously awesome panini, but as such it's just a-ok. It's not that I won't be back if I see the truck again (I would like to try the Caprese, too, and it definitely wasn't a bad sandwich), but I guess I like my paninis hot and at $7 a pop, they seem a little undersized for a cold sandwich. read more

Came highly recommended from a co-worker and definitely delivered. This is a very straight-forward approach: it's a NY style Italian sandwich shop on wheels. And, honestly, with all the crazy gimmicks these days coming out of food trucks on the west coast, it was nice to get a simple, traditional plate - rather than a trendy basket of bulgolgi tacos, mac-n-cheese egg rolls, kimchi tater tots, burritos with french fries, or whatever other Frankenstein combination we've grown accustomed to in Silicon Valley. Getting back to basics, doing something simple (but expertly), and having a well-made panini felt reassuring and comfortable. As far as my experience, I forgot the gimmicky name that they gave it, but basically, I got a sausage and peppers sandwich on fantastically toasted bread. I was never excited to try this truck. It serves Italian sandwiches and you can get a decent home style Italian meal anywhere, anytime. But today, due to the limited time I had for lunch, I decided to try it. Everybody who were in line said this was one of their favorite trucks. I decided to try the Salsiccia panini, their pork sausage sandwich. It was good. The sandwich was big, but not overwhelming. The ingredients seemed fresh. The overall flavor was a little bland, but still tasty. Speedy Panini does offer other options besides sandwiches, such as lasagna and canolli. But sandwiches are what they're known for and I can't wait to try the others on the menu. The price...oh boy, this is one of the most affordable food trucks out there, which is very rare. Friendly staff. I definitely got made fun of for pronouncing the Salsiccia wrong... curse my Spanish influence. I asked for a sall-see-see-ya, when clearly it states, sall-see-cha. Stupid. Anyway, they happened to stop by outside my work. I was hungry and needed a quick fix. I stopped by for the Salsiccia. Damn. It was a good sandwich. Made to order. Don't you just love those days when the universe throws you a bone? This past Wednesday, a little karmic action brought me the goodness that is the Speedy Panini. I had brought a packed lunch (soup and salad) to an especially horrific work day (ok, in financial printing they're all horrific, this was just another Wednesday). I ate said lunch. I was still starving. A coworker brought me a little white doggie bag and I just about dropped my panties for the caprese salad panini in all its crunchy, olive oily, herbby smothered glory. I thought to myself, "I can't possibly eat this whole thing. I already ate my lunch. I am not a pig." And then I proceeded to shovel the damn thing down my throat, only coming up for air when there was nothing but crumbs left. After recognizing the guy that took my order, I looked at the address on their truck and realized their based out of Cafe Renzo in Palo Alto. In fact I believe he's a server there but possibly related to the family? I genuinely like Renzo and it's cool to see that they're venturing out of their old world brick and mortar and running a truck of simple Italian treats. I love this food truck! I try to stop by when it's on Stanford's campus. I had a great conversation with the owner, Graziano, the first time I came, and he's always so friendly. He grew up in Sicily, so this food truck is very authentic with Southern Italian influences. I really like the vegetariano panini - such a good mix of perfectly cooked vegetables. The bread is also perfect - I think they use Acme bread but I'm not totally sure. It's $8 for a panini, which is totally reasonable for a delicious lunch! What I like of their paninis is that the bread is thinner which makes the filling taste better. I like Caprese panini the best, simple, just the right amount of tomatoes, mozzarella and oils. Meatball panini had good meatballs and sauce. Chicken and mushrooms in Pollo panini are good but a little too dry. Same goes with Salsiccia. Their truck never seems to have a line. Speedy Panini came to our offices on Geng Rd in Palo Alto today for lunch. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the food and Graziano's charm. :) Grandmother's lasagna was every bit as tasty as Graziano promised. I just keep enjoying this truck more each time I it them. The food is always so yummy, they vary the menu and they make sure that each plate is perfect for service to us. Today's special is an especially yummy Panini Milanese for $8 and was delightful! crunchy with layers of complementary flavors. Ingredients: Crispy Chicken Breast Provolone Cheese Lettuce Fresh Tomato Mild Jalapeño Aioli sauce They melded together perfectly where one flavor morphed into another and the creamy sauce wit provolone nicely complemented the crunchy juicy chicken. The chicken was an especially pleasant surprise being perfectly seasoned before being breaded with its crunchy topping. I hope he offers this special more often because its already on my "regulars" list. The Mild Jalapeño Aioli sauce is a delight, its not really spicy at all, just full of distantly yummy flavors that truly complemented the chicken. This is an excellent balance of flavors that makes ordinary sandwich places pale by comparison. Keep in mind that he makes so much more, pastas with rich alfredo sauce and strips of tasty chicken if a yummy and satisfying regular item for us to enjoy. Their cannoli are consistently excellent with a tasty creamy filling and crunchy tube, sublimely complementary lecture and delightful nutty and hint of orange flavors makes this a favorite dessert. Vegetarian Cuisine is definitely available, in addition to salads there is: Vegeteriano (Panini): Grilled eggplants Pesto Sauce Roasted bell peppers Mozzarella cheese Sundried tomato pesto sauce Vegeteriano is one of our friend's favorites, filled with yummy satisfying flavors that feel like a real meal. The irony in this place is that the 2-3 times I've eaten here, the service was terribly slow. They ran out of a few sandwiches and there is simply nothing "speedy" about this place. I tried to avoid eating here after the figuring out the issues they have with speed. Maybe they've fixed the speed issues recently, judging from the recent reviews. Graziano and his crew have got the Italian sausage sandwich on lockdown. Flavor is awesome, value is good in terms of portion, especially by food cart standards. It tastes homemade, has just the right amount of spice and heat and their is textured flavor profiles. They make them pretty quick and the ingredients are very basic. Perhaps most impressive is the size balance among ingredients. The sausage length and width fits perfectly with the fresh Ciabatta roll which minimizes bread bites and ensures textural consistency. Unlike allot of the cart food, this sandwich is easy to handle with one hand without making a mess. A simple, tasty sandwich that goes great with the Pellegrino this cart also offers, or with a nice white wine or Martini. Excellent Italian flavor, perfect for Springtime, casual dining. read more

This food truck is a favorite among our employees! Posting the menu around the office the day before, some people remembered having them before (and that was a couple years ago)! Graziano also remembered catering us that long ago too! He was excited to come back and we were excited to have him back! The food was very delicious and the bread was super crunchy! (Ciabatta bread is the best!) All tasty options (Caprese, Pollo, Vegtariano and Polpette) with either a side salad or curly fries was just the right amount of food! Only problem that arose was that the sandwiches were pre-put together so if you didn't like something (IE: mushrooms, tomatoes) you had to pick them out yourself. -Sped up the process of getting the sandwiches out faster though. No other major complaints that I heard of, which is a plus too. Reasonably priced as well (broke down to $11 per person). I will definitely look into them for the future! read more

One of the best meatball sandwiches I've ever had, maybe the best. Love that they have the 'lil tub-o-peppers outside to slip into your sandwich. My coworkers shared Grandma's Lasagna - Meat sauce, béchamel sauce, eggs, green peas, mozzarella & parmigiano cheese, oven baked, covered with homemade tomato sauce ($9). They said it was too die for and that the serving size was generous (served in a large compostable clamshell). The noodles had that fabulous fresh pasta texture. The red sauce was really good, packed with flavor. What really did it for them was the addition of béchamel sauce. Too bad they scarfed it up while I was out getting a flu shot. My coworkers and I are food truck fans, and we make it a point to try as many of the trucks that come around Palo Alto as possible. Speedy Panini is a new favorite as much for their sandwiches (which, admittedly, aren't melty like you'd expect from the name, but are more like really delicious Italian-style sandwiches) as for their personalities. The bread is amazing, the cheese is even better, and you won't need a snack all afternoon (but you won't slip into a food coma either). If it's slow, chat them up! These guys are awesome. read more
