Derrick is amazing. I would give him the 5 star rating for his services. I left him a voice message and he replied me in an hour and came to my house next morning. I didn't really know what's the problem in my sewage pipes, so I roughly explained what city service people's comment about my pipe leaking issue, he spent a good half hour to figure out what could be the real issue. Not only that he even went to the city service dept to find out what exactly is the sewage pipe problem. Additionally he called utilities companies to check whether the area can be digged, not affecting any utilities lines. I was so impressed at his professional skills and initiatives in working on the project quickly. He made sure the dirt he rigged out not damaging the lawn, and at the end of his work, he also cleaned up the lawn. He's so professional, and really talented in his work. A few times, he had to fix the pipes which were done incorrectly by other plumbers, he was always abel to come up a low-cost and creative way to fix them. I have never written a Yelp review, but was moved to do so after having Main Street Plumbing's Derek fix my garburator issue. He was easy to reach on the phone and schedule an appointment with. On the phone he came off as very knowledgeable and attentive, as he listened to my description of the problem and explained what the possible issues might be. He even told me a little bit about the specific system that I had in place and how it compares to other models on the market, as well as gave me a direct quote for the possible things that might be wrong and need fixing (which was also the cheapest I had found). He was promptly on time for the appointment, and did the job carefully and quickly, in under a half hour. Even after having fixed the garburator issue, he himself noticed a small sag in one of the kitchen sink pipes and, of his own initiative, fixed it up in place, going above and beyond. As far as COVID goes, Derek wore a mask and was very respectful, and on our side we made sure to ready the area for him by wiping things down and keeping it clean. Derek was very professional and transparent about costs. He is a perfectionist which is a very reassuring quality in a plumber. He removed our garbage disposal and did an excellent job of re-piping to give us maximum space. He also fixed a leaky hot laundry faucet and replace the inner workings of the cold one as a preventative measure. He also future proofed our stop tap to the dishwasher so that when we have the dishwasher replaced in the future it won't be a problem - something that I hadn't thought of. We really appreciated his knowledge and professionalism. Our apartment building is old and has a weird water shut off procedure which meant that Derek was unable to test his work straight away. He instructed us what to do when the water was back to full pressure and later returned to make some adjustments. This wasn't ideal for him and I imagine quite frustrating. I felt bad but Derek was very professional and took it in his stride. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending him to anyone. read more

Called around 11am with a picture/video of my issue (Faucet Leaking) and within 10 minutes he replied back with options, opinions, and different quotes for each so I knew what I'm getting to. He was at my place by lunch time and was out before 1pm with the issue fixed. Granted, not everyone will have the same quick turn around as I had but here is where I justify the 5 stars: - Was able to stick to the quotes he gave me over e-mail with picture evidence. - Removed everything underneath the sink, and offered to put everything back afterwards. - Communicative of the issue and what he's doing to fix it, and if there is unforeseen complexity. - Was able to take Cash, Cheque, or credit card. Overall it was great experience compared to what I was dealing with before from other companies that: - Charged for an diagnostic. - When replying back they didn't give me options to choose how to go about fixing the issues just a quote. This is only the second Yelp review I have every written but wanted to comment about how impressed I was with this company. When my sink backed up and caused a geyser in my kitchen on Wednesday night, I looked on Yelp and found excellent reviews for Main Street Plumbing. I was pleasantly surprised to notice they were open until 8:00pm so I called them at around 7:30pm. Derek was very helpful and accommodating and was able to squeeze me in for an appointment at noon the next day (yesterday). It was Dadi that came to do the work and I could not have been more impressed. He was very professional, personable, and took his time to show me and explain what he was going to do. He got right to work and had the issue fixed in no time, making sure that he showed me what he had done. I cannot thank Derek enough. Where others failed me, he expertly succeeded. First, Derek is: courteous, professional, and kind (plus I'm sure a whole lot more). Our unused garburator began leaking, but it wasn't an urgent situation as we have a bucket. I phoned Main Street Plumbing on Saturday for what I thought might turn into an emergency situation with my bathroom plumbing. I was fully prepared to have to pay overtime charges to make sure that I didn't have water damage throughout my condo, and thought it best to get in a professional. Well, Derek got back to me right away, asked me to explain the situation and then guided me through what I could do to fix the problem myself. His advice, which was precise, saved the day! All this is to say that he could have easily come to my place and charged me for the service (at weekend rates), and I would have been none the wiser. I am truly grateful for his honesty and expertise and will definitely use his services for future repairs that are beyond my scope of abilities. Highly recommended ! Honest, works fast, has the knowhow, a definite pro !! Admitted he doesn't like doing sewer jobs and would rather refer someone he knows enjoys that type of work but he continued anyway. Had a backed up kitchen sink past the p-trap he wasn't initially able to clear, but after gaining access through another access point that needed an iron pipe sawed through with a power grinder, was able to clear the blockage. Thought we were done , but no , this clearing caused the downstairs laundry room to get flooded because of the blockage getting moved, Derek didn't hesitate to remove the jury rigged washing machine drain and snaked the sewage line again till it too was fixed. Derek responded quickly to a request for two relatively minor jobs: assessing whether two faucets could be repaired and handling the replacement if necessary. He was prompt, knowledgeable, fair, and non-judgemental about the cramped and unfinished areas of our basement suite. He had some good-quality replacement options with him, and the whole job was therefore completed quickly and efficiently. He also assessed our corroding hot water tank and provided some good replacement suggestions. Unfortunately, as we need to replace the furnace, we may need to work with a contractor who can do both simultaneously, but for any other plumbing jobs we'd work with Derrick again in a heartbeat. No attitude, just friendly, straightforward and gets it done - he will not waste your time. I've had him re-install a kitchen sink and fully replace our hot water heater (pretty big job) and we couldn't be happier with his work. Very professional, thorough, on-time and clean. Just had Derek do a repair on a toilet and shower valve, very fine fellow, explained everything as he went and double and triple checked his work to be sure there were no leaks ! Very conscientious and thorough, planned ahead and had everything he needed for the job without having to run to his wholesaler for parts. Derek works fast and does great, precise work. If there was some kind of plumbing Olympics, my money would be on him. I last called him a couple years ago for help with a complicated toilet install, and this time was replacing a broken faucet and garburator. Derek managed to finish what should have taken 2 hours in under an hour. I was honestly surprised. The results look immaculate and everything under the sink is nicely laid out now. I asked around for competing bids for both jobs. He was the lowest bid both times, but now that I know his work, I think I'd go with him in the future even if he was a middle bid because he's honest and his work is stellar. read more

Our hot water tank was on its way out so I called Main Street Plumbing because of all the good reviews. Derek was able to fit me in within a couple days and he came when he said he would, in fact he was early. He charged me exactly what he had quoted me and on top of being so professional he went the extra mile after and fixed a couple more things for me free of charge. Derek is knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. He replaced my leaky faucet hose and fixed my garburator in less than an hour. He also found a screw in the garburator! For months, I was wondering what that noise was!@!#. And now my hose doesn't leak and he even put a bead of silicone around the sink which was never done in the first place... I was wondering why my sink in my new condo was leaking all the time. If you are having any plumbing issues, I absolutely recommend this guy. I generally don't write reviews often, but I have had a great experience communicating with Derek. This morning the water tank on my toilet cracked, leading to a flood. The unit requires replacement. Derek has provided me with valuable input related to "what to do" as the tank maybe faulty, and the manufacturer may need to replace it free of charge. Derek didn't charge me for this advice, just provided very timely and professional text messages. That is awesome. I am really impressed and felt compelled to leave a positive review. I was able to make an appointment very quickly, and finally fix a problem with my faucet that had been preventing me from getting proper hot water. Derek went out of his way to get the job done, even sourcing a new faucet at a great price when it turned out the old faucet was not installed properly and due to corrosion needed replacement. Been reno-ing a 36yr old house that had nothing (and I mean nothing) done to it .. seemingly ever. Had the interior redone last fall and the past week just the kitchen sinks started the slow drain of death ... Clogged drain was defying my efforts, liquid plumber, plunging, clean out traps and 20 ft of snake. A call mid morning brought Derek to my place by 1230. He not only showed great perseverance working the drain using a power auger but also replumbed the drains and took out the garburator I never wanted in the first place.
