I have been coming to Salon Fiber for about 2 years and LOVE the salon. I found them after leaving a longtime stylist at another salon that was no longer convenient to my hours or home. I was super stressed about finding a new salon/stylist and did exhaustive research on local salons via Yelp, google reviews, and Instagram. Through many visits and following the salon on social media I can tell that all of the stylists here are talented. From balayage, to bold pops of color, to event hair, they have broad skill sets on hand. I was interested in balayage for a more natural look after doing a double process of dying my roots + foil highlights for many years. I have been seeing stylist Briley for about a year and love the way my hair looks. Briley is excellent at achieving beautiful natural looking balayage. I love that it doesn't look super obvious that I've colored my hair whether I've gone lighter for summer, or darker for fall, it is a subtle enhancement that works well with my original coloring. I appreciate how detail oriented she is, always talking through the details of what I'm looking for in cut and color. I also appreciate the recommendations I've received from the stylists here on how to upkeep my color and overall hair health. They carry some specialty lines of products that I was not familiar with before coming here, and I absolutely love the italian line Davines that they offer. One important thing to note is that you need to allow a bit of extra time to find street or lot parking in Phoenixville. There is a lot right across the street and behind the salon, as well as a few spots right out front. But, depending on the time and day of week (or if there is an event in town), parking can require a few extra minutes. read more

I visited this salon with high expectations after reading all of the rave reviews and seeing this business specializes in beautiful color work. Given that the prices here are premium, I expected to tap into their marketed expertise to treat my hair woes. I am super bummed to report this salon fell short of those expectations for my visits. I don't feel that I left with amazing hair and reaching the goals discussed with the stylist, or that I even had above average service. I came in to have my roots and ends match a seemingly complex service for me, and eventually after ongoing visits to have my overall hair color lightened. The person who I saw I feel overpromised and underdelivered. Between both of my visits there were many issues which I experienced that amounted to a negative vibe. I felt that the stylist was rushing a lot during a visit which caused her to splatter my face and clothes with lightening product unapologetically. The stylist got dark hair dye which stained very visibly all over my face and was ready to let me leave this way. I had to insist to clean off my own face with wipes. The next visit I needed to remind about this and no notes were taken to proactively avoid. Despite the discussion and understanding with the stylist about what I want for my hair, I noticed there was a difference between my roots and rest of my hair after a lightening service and simultaneous root touch up. I did expect for there to be better matching - this was noticed and confirmed by a different salon which I had a consult with to treat my hair. During one visit when I asked for a hair trim, it was not very detail oriented. Later while looking at my hair, I did see many parts of my ends which weren't trimmed and still had damage. The observation about lack of detail orientation was confirmed at a the different visit. There was another stylist next to me who was obsessing over a client's cut and measuring and cutting from every which angle to ensure perfection - I did not not have anywhere close to this level of attention, QA, outcome for a less complex trim! Then I noticed they were obsessing just to post on social in their in house backdrop/lighting mini studio, which made me wonder if that level of excellence is selective. During my second visit my blow dry was not smooth at all as it was rushed due to end of the night. The service also seemed a bit unapproachable as despite me conveying I need to get in in 4 weeks she was proposing 6 weeks or at times in the middle of the work day. Who in any job can reasonably travel and step away for 2-3 hours in the middle of the work day? Not until I repeated (again), was a more creative solution proposed which would meet my conveyed needs. Egh this lack of empathy in the customer service was yet another turn off. Due to these issues I chose to not proceed with visiting this salon another time, or making it a part of my ongoing hair maintenance routine. There are many beautiful photos on IG from the stylist I saw, and I'm so bummed about my own experience having spent on a premium experience and not being able to leave with awesome hair! I really did feel this salon experience failed to wow me during either of the visits despite giving them more than one try. Given the difference of results, I wonder if this salon is selective about who/when they offer execllent service versus mediocre as I experienced which is too much a gamble when you're paying such premium prices. Unfortunately given how long this business books out, I do not feel it is a practical salon to visit if you have a fast paced lifestyle and are in need of regular hair services. These were all rookie mistakes for a business charging so high - think twice! read more

I had a color correction, balayage, and hair cut done with Nichole about a month ago and she did an incredible job. I first called the studio about color correction after I used L'Oréal Colorista to put blue throughout my hair on top of my balayage. The blue would not leave; it had left a strong green color throughout most of the lightened parts of my hair. Fiber first booked me with a consultation, so Nichole could see my hair and book me for an accurate time window. She was super nice and attentive, but for booking, she didn't have any availability for over a month. When she saw how long it was though, she opened up a Saturday about a week and a half away that she had previously been off for because it was the day after her birthday. This was incredibly nice both on her part, and because I was desperate to get rid of the green hair. For the actual appointment, Nichole patiently worked through first stripping the color and then giving me a more dramatic balayage than I previously had. She really looked at the pictures I showed her and talked to me about what I wanted. I was in the salon for about four hours, and Nichole and the staff were nice and accommodating the entire time - including running out to my car multiple times to add change for parking. I love the finished look. I've gotten balayage done multiple times from several different salons, both in this area and in Manhattan, and her work is definitely among my favorite. We forgot to take a before photo, but I've included our after photo. It's been awhile now and I'm very happy with how it's growing out and fading. There was still a green tinge that showed in fluorescent lighting after Nichole was done (not her fault at all, she was honest about realistic expectations, and the dye was way more intense than I thought). However, that's gone now with her recommended use of purple shampoo, and I'm so happy with the final result. I highly recommend Nichole for color correction or for balayage!! Awful salon, terrible experience. Ugh, so so bad. (See pictures for proof). Date of service: 2/25/2015 Date of photos (after only 2 shampoos): 3/6/2015 So, let me preface: I had previously dyed the underside of my hair a beautiful teal color from Pravana and I needed a color refresh. I decided I wanted to spread the color into a bayalage so it faded more gently from black to teal. I also needed a haircut because I'm growing out my bangs and wanted more of an angle in the front. My experience: I had a multitude of pictures which I presented to the girls at the counter, very clearly showing the process I wanted done (I've learned not to take chances - always bring pictures). They booked me about an hour and a half from when I walked in which is fine because I live right around the corner. When it was time for my appointment, Chelsea started painting on the bleach. She then moved me from her chair back to the "color room". I was seated next to two women having their hair colored. Not two seconds after I sit down, am I then moved again. This time, to a back corner into a very uncomfortable chair. I figured there was a client coming in but no one was seated in the chair for at least 20 minutes. It was the most uncomfortable, awkward waiting time I've ever had. I didn't feel like a client, I felt like a bother because where I was seated was totally in the way of staff carrying boxes back and forth. I was very relieved when Chelsea came to wash out the bleach. She took me back to her chair out front to dry my hair before she put on the color. Color in, then for some reason she shampooed it out. Every other time I've colored my hair or had it colored, my hair was just rinsed out and then conditioned. I didn't say anything because I figured she knew what she was doing. So, she then cuts and dries my hair. The color was brighter where I ALREADY had it but I didn't notice a difference anywhere else. I remember her making a comment "maybe next time, we should bleach some more pieces because some of these didn't lift too well". Awesome. In retrospect, I should have spoken up right then and said no, I want to re-bleach them now. But I'm terrible at doing that. I figure when I'm paying for a service, it should turn out right. I shouldn't have to tell them how to do their job. Time to pay. My grand total for 2 uncomfortable hours which barely changed my hair: $205. WHAT?!!!!! I'm sorry, but that's so overpriced, I don't care what service you have done. Whatever. I hand my cash to the girl at the register and wait, expecting a receipt of some sort... Nothing. She's too busy talking to some guy who walked in behind the register. I guess she notices me waiting finally, because she looks up and says "you can go now". Ugh. So now, a few days later, I was hoping the color would show a bit more because sometimes it tends to brighten after you wash it. It didn't. I've also noticed some of the barely visible "bayalage highlights" aren't teal. They're still blonde. As are some pieces on the underside of my hair. It looks like a disaster and I am so frustrated that I paid over $200 for my hair to look this terrible. To be noted My first experience here was great. I received a Brazilian blowout from Chelsea and, although she missed a section of hair about an inch wide, the rest of my hair felt so good! read more

After this horrible haircut I don't trust anyone anymore to cut my hair. I have been struggling to find a good colorist who's not afraid of going bold. I found it in Kelly at Fiber! I went in with shoulder length hair, that was damaged and has been every shade of mahogany to auburn you can imagine. In two years no one has been able to give me a good single process. Kelly nailed the color on her first shot - a dark auburn with a plum undertone! She gave me a dramatic hair cut too! From shoulder length overgrown bob to a long faux hawk pixie. The cut is fantastic and workable in a couple of ways which helps satisfy my creative tendencies! She was glad to recommend a great spray wax to use for styling which is perfect for my ultra fine hair! I like this salon . The employees are very nice and everyone is competent. I did change though as the last two times I was there the operator who I had an appointment with was not the person who colored my hair. I hate it when I have an appointment with an operator and you wind up getting your hair colored by a junior. If your operator is too busy to work with you that means the salon over booked. Salon Fiber is one of the best hair salons I've gone to, certainly one of the best in the area for a solid men's haircut (ask for Alyssa). Very relaxed atmosphere, and all the stylists are strong communicators. They listen to what you want (even if you're not the best at explaining it) and have the skill to pull it off. I've also never experienced that weird moment there during a haircut when the chat runs its course and we're both just go awkwardly silent. My usual stylist from my usual salon is out on maternity leave, and my short hair needs cutting ALL OF THE TIMES, or else I look like Justin Bieber. Am going away next week, so I thought it best to get a haircut, lest I find myself out and about and mobbed by pre-teens everywhere I go. Found Salon Fiber on here (thanks, Yelp!), then found its online booking (possibly my favourite invention after Marmite). Grabbed a last-minute appointment and the Yelp voucher (hey, why not?) and headed on over. Leaving your hair in anyone's hands is nerve-wracking, but Kelly's immediate understanding of my short/choppy/texturised cut allayed all fears. She is super-skilled with both razor and scissor, and my hair looks amazing -- absolutely none of that "Oh, it'll probably look better in a week or two" feeling. What's more, she's got an actual personality; you won't have to keep your small talk to the weather. Actually, all the stylists seem as if they'd be fun to sit for. The overall atmosphere of Salon Fiber is kicky and modern and, hey, the Pixies were playing on the sound system. Can't find fault with that. The personal bonus was that the rates were quite a bit lower than what I'm used to paying for an excellent haircut, and it's always nice to save a few bucks, right? Right. And now I have a quandary: For the first time in seven years, do I change stylists/salons? I think I shall re-read this review and find that the answer is obvious. read more

As a woman with very long, very thick, unruly hair, I walked into this salon as a bundle of fear, as I usually do encountering a new stylist. I have had so many terrible experiences in the past and I expected this to be no different as I needed a major color correction and a cut on my hair that hadn't been cut in months and months. Well, to my very pleasant surprise, I found my rockstar stylist, Nichole. And I swear, I will never go to anyone else ever again. I travel an hour to go to Salon Fiber just to see her. 1. She didn't laugh too hard at my hair :) 2. She was so methodical, took her time to figure out what was best for me and talked me through it all. She in no way gave me false hope so my expectations were clear. I appreciated that, because when it comes to your hair, you want to know what to expect when you walk out of the salon. Especially with the color correction. Nichole explained that the best option would be a balayage, along with explaining that a balayage builds on itself and each time it would get easier and better -- all of which has proved true. Nichole has learned the in's and out's of my hair. The color is stunning, the cuts are perfect, the styling is above and beyond. I walked in to see Nichole for the first time feeling horrible about myself and walked out feeling empowered and amazing. Every time, she makes me feel like a normal human being again. Found this salon through Yelp- no problem getting in, Jenn cut my hair. Did a great job. I've been going back and now my wife and our three sons are going to her as well. They honored the Yelp discount on my first visit too. Jenn is fantastic with both of us as well as the kids. Heads up: you can't put your tip on your credit card any longer, so bring cash for the tip if you're using a card for the services; also parking is a nightmare- watch for the marked spots under the bridge and make sure to pump the meter- Phoenixville is strict on tickets all of a sudden back there. read more

I recently used Salon Fiber's Prenup Service to style my hair and makeup for my Indian pre-wedding event. My stylist, Emily, was AMAZING!!! She arrived early and had all her supplies nicely organized, which allowed for her to work so efficiently. She was very patient and flexible and really took the time to understand my vision for my look. She even gave me an extra lip gloss to touch-up my make-up throughout the evening. Emily additionally did hair for my mother and sister --- they were both very pleased with the level of service. Emily was so patient and calming. She helped us all feel very relaxed and confident. For the Indian brides out there --- Emily also placed a matta patti tikka (headpiece) for me. She did a fantastic job with the placement and the headpiece remained secure for the entire evening. I was so pleased with my first visit; I have decided to make Salon Fiber my go to Hair Salon. I moved to the area last year and finally found a stylist I like (Emily)! When I arrived, I was immediately greeted and offered something to drink. The Salon seemed busy with other returning customers, so not sure why this place has so many bad reviews, I was told there was a change in management about 1 year ago and they have made many changes. I got a color, some foils and a haircut, she helped me pick the right color for me, and I have a full face, she helped me pick the right style. I was thrilled. I made my appointment 3 weeks in advance. When I showed up 15 mins early I was told they could not find my name anywhere in their system. They did not ask me what services I was looking for and they did not offer to reschedule me. I was told I must have booked at a different salon by accident. When I called into the salon I had booked with I was told that I was at the correct salon earlier and they could not find me in the system at all. I just received a call back from the supervisor and they were conveniently able to find my appointment for next week and that they would do my appointment at a discount. I declined their offer because they could have just said they lost my original appointment but rather they made up a story about me arriving the wrong day. Overall very dissatisfied. Such a shame since everyone says their work is great. I took off time for work in order to get in here. read more

I've gotten my hair cut at Salon Fiber several times, with Maura as my stylist. I have never been disappointed! I have received excellent service and great product recommendations, and I don't have easy hair to deal with--it's super baby-fine. I've seen that they are moving from their current location on Taylor Alley to a new location on Main Street in Phoenixville in February. This is fine by me because I can still walk there if I want. I'm not sure if parking will be much better in their new location, but it is a nice area to walk with other shops and restaurants nearby. I'd recommend parking up the street from their new location and stopping for lunch before or after your haircut. All of the staff at Salon Fiber seems very friendly and professional, and everyone (including other customers) seems to be in a good mood whenever I go in. I recently moved from NYC and was very worried about finding a hair salon that I liked and could trust. To be honest, I am often a salon polygamist if you will - I love checking out new places and am always on the hunt to find the perfect spot. I found Salon Fiber online and decided to check it out. I am so happy I did. I went in and saw Lindsey, who is amazing, and got Balayage Highlights and a Keratin Treatment. From the moment I walked in, everyone was super friendly. They were also extremely knowledgable. How many times have I had my hair dyed or highlighted at a salon? Probably 10-15 times (most often at different salons). This was the FIRST time a stylist mentioned that my roots pull cool while my ends pull warm. This totally made sense to me when brought up, because I always end up hating how highlights look brassy on my ends. Lindsey compensated by using the correct tones on each area of my head - even though it involved a little extra work. Everyone at the salon who I have come across is very sweet and knows their stuff - but I can personally recommend Lindsey, and can confidently say I will continue to make the 35 minute drive because I have found my stylist! Finally! She is easy to talk to and has great hair (something I find very important in a stylist - why would you want someone doing your hair if their own isn't looking good??!) I'll admit I'm not particularly adventurous with my hair and I don't require a lot of styling, but in any case I'm always satisfied when I walk out the door.
