Bought a love item there. The packaging was completely diffrent to the item that was in the box. I called customer service requesting to exchange the item for something closer to what I was looking for, I didnt even want my money back. Very impressed with tonight's visit. I have been here before and like others (reviewing this place) I wasn't happy with how employees represented themselves/the company. Today I walked in and Christine immediately greeted us. Throughout our time in the store she checked on us and walked around. At some point there was a crowd of diversity- from different races to different ages. And I believe there were only two employees working but one just fixing the products. So I assume she does have to walk around and make sure there isn't customers with bad intentions inside. So I didn't take her doing her job personal. She rang us up and made conversation following my question. Christine had amazing customer service. I heard her interacting with customers, giving the younger crowd advice and checking in on everyone that was in the store. Glad to know that Spencer's is (hopefully) improving. read more

Was in on a very un busy Monday, had an unfortunate encounter with an employee. I was going to buy lava lamps (plural) for a lamp hoarder who owns hundreds. So, I attempted to take a full pic of the lava lamp display, with the sale signage (to text him) when I was stopped by salesgirl, who said "Excuse me, you can't take picture in the store." I said "Really?" (riddled with disbelief and sarcasm) and she replied "It's a trademark mall policy." Well miss clerk, no idea what a trademark mall policy is, but it cost you somewhere under $100. From what I could see, lava lamps are among the pricier items in your store, so suit yourself. Don't tell your customers what they can't do, tell them what they CAN do. read more

The little 16 year old boy with the hat needs to learn some manners and not give the customers attitude. If I need help with something don't "ugh" don't roll your eyes and don't give me attitude. If you hate your job then quit don't take it out on customers who are being patient and polite and just want to shop. The staff always greets me when i come in and they always ask if they can help me find anything specific, and of course they always let me know about all the sales. Would give zero stars if I could. I was in this store last night. A group of older teenagers came in, and one of them asked about a specific style of naval piercing jewelry. The sales person said, "Oh, that's for people with super model type bodies". It was horrifying. Just direct the customer toward the item they are asking about! What gave this man, who was rather portly himself, the right to say something like that?! This guy was totally rude to a CUSTOMER. This kid looked totally normal and fit to me, but what if they weren't? Who cares?? They can wear whatever style jewelry that they want! I felt so bad for them. There goes a potential sale, out the door. Not to mention my lost business, because I put down everything in my arms and left. There's no way that I will ever spend a dime in that store again. I am WAY too old for this store - but that doesn't mean you are! :) A wonderful crapola store, full of loud music, wacky t-shirts, collectibles, naughty merchandise, piercing paraphernalia and did I mention loud music? But it is a fun place to pop into and kill time to admire all the wacky stuff people spend their money on. I love Spencer's, it's one of my favorite stores, but experience at this location is absolutely horrible. Multiple times I've gone in and been looking at something and a woman (didn't get her name, but she has blondish orangish hair - in a pony tail - seems middle aged) tells us to leave. Experience one I was looking at a shirt to check sizing and how the shirt actually looked, she took the shirt from me and told me if I wasn't buying anything I had to leave. My second experience, my friends and I were looking around and talking (yes slightly loud, but we were still looking at things to buy) and she yelled across the store "if you're just hanging out and not buying anything you have to get out". Some may still say that it is close...however I would say that SPENCER GIFTS is coming out on top these days. T-shirts, books, mature goods and erotic merchandise...yes, this place is really cool. Even if you are not looking to make a purchase it can be a cool spot to "kill time" at the mall. Spencers Gifts has been number one for jokes and gags in my book for as long as I can remember(It was always the store that mom tried to avoid on outings to the mall). I love it here, this place is exactly how I would imagine my twisted mind would look like if I set up shop. I bought some ear tunnels there that completely trashed my ears. Upon receiving them the woman at the counter yold me not to use tea tree oil and to enjoy my new plugs. Tea tree oil is safe to use and she had very small tunnels which kind of made me think she may have not known what she was talking about. I wore the jewlery for a few days and one day my ears were getting SUPER irritated almost as if they were burning. They began oozing puss and had an open sore type of feel and look to them. It has been over two weeks since this incident and my ears are still not the same and I'm worried if I can even get them back to normal now. Iv put some oil on them and have been letting them rest and they've gone down in puffiness quite a bit. When I wear my other plugs there is no irritation which I was I am 100 percent certain it was from these tunnels because my stretched ears have been healed for years and have never had this issue before trying Spencer's jewelry. I am confident I can bring them back to normal but upset that I have to downsize and wasted 17 dollars on some shitty advice and some jewlery that burned the fuck out of my ears. Went in with the bf. No greeting, whatever. I was looking at ear jewelry and this broad right next to me would look at me but never said a word or asked if I wanted to see anything. Asked her to open the case, she sounded exasperated while asking some guy to open it. He comes over and seems annoyed that I took one single minute to compare plugs. The bf was looking at belts right by the first lady and asked how much belts are. She didn't respond to him. Nice work ethic. Go up to pay, broad number two actually acknowledges me but immediately asked the guy to let her go at 8 instead of 8:30. He said no. She kept asking and he kept saying no. She was distracted so my credit card swipe timed out after I already put my wallet away. I was ignored for the rest of the transaction. I had to go back in search of some all black plugs in a 9/16. Shittiest selection ever, mostly acrylic garbage. No greeting this time either, by the way. Three employees and a security guard are standing in the middle of the store talking shit about their manager. All of them look at us multiple times and no one says anything. I'm thoroughly looking at these jewelry cases clearly needing assistance but they would rather say rude things about their superior. Never going back, yay! read more

She looked at me like a criminal or something, then walked away. I dismissed this the first time, but this happened every time I visited, over several months.
