The driver failed to ensure the tailgate was secured (which I have on camera). As the truck was lowered, the tailgate dug into the ground, bending the hinges and ultimately causing it to come off. This also resulted in damage to the newly painted truck and the tailgate itself. The driver was polite and apologized, stating he would report the incident to his boss. However, the owner never reached out to address the situation. After waiting several hours, I called myself and was met with complete disregard for the damage caused. I requested that they at least return and tow the vehicle back to the body shop. He briefly agreed, then hung up on me. I have since followed up three times and sent two emails with no response. At this point, I will be pursuing a civil case, as this damage is clearly the company's responsibility.
