This is our favorite park to go to as a family. There are tables and plenty of seating to watch play (but play with them too!). There's a big open area for lawn games and also a splash pad with more seating and a pavilion you can rent for parties. All things enclosed and pets or bikes are not allowed. In addition to this there is a massive lawn to play things like soccer or other sports, great paved walking or biking paths and it even goes into the woods where you can play in the creek. There are plenty of great trails here, paved and dirt, and a hand-full of fun geocaches if you download the app. Very amazing park!

For some reason he started to reel it in (I would have cut the line or waited and given him my rod if it started to climb the line). The snake "jumped" off the line and swam away under the bridge and into the dark part by the grass.....umm ok time for me to walk...fast....away. So be careful!

Beautiful and easy walking trail located in Brandenburg Kentucky. We decided to check this place…read moreout after stopping by in popular Brandenburg attraction jailhouse pizza. The gps with the current yelp address took us to some industrial area with construction called buttermilk falls commerce. It said we had another 1.5 miles to go but there was a sign that said trails with an arrow pointing left. Right past that is a security shack for the commercial buildings. The very nice gentleman there told us the gps is wrong that we can park in a gravel lot right behind us where the trails sign was. Or if we were out of Towners he recommended parking at riverfront park right by jailhouse pizza and grabbing some pizza and walking the calories off as the other entrance is located there. We literally had just left that area so we did some unnecessary driving. After popping a u turn and parking in the Gravel parking lot you enter a park entrance that is gravel and has a sign. Buttermilk falls is about 2.5 miles one way and on a straight line that ends at the river front park. We took the concrete road and about 1/4 a mile in you see a break off nature path called "Emmett falls trail" you could either go here or stay on the concrete path. We took the scenic wooded path. It was about .5 miles of real beautiful and pretty scenery until we reached the very large and wonderful Emmett falls. They have a lovely seating area right at the bottom and you can climb to the top of th waterfall as well. Emmett falls is the only "large" waterfall in buttermilk falls. At the tail End of the trail towards the riverfront parks you hit stretch of several beautiful small ones. But Emmett is the big boy! After that you you can trek back onto the path you was in before veering left to the waterfall and continue forward which will take you back to the concrete path you was originally on. Or you can cross over to the concrete path immediately and then head back to the gravel parking lot by hanging a right or continue left and move forward on the concrete path. Once back on the concrete path you will cross a few lovely bridges and scenic opportunities. You will encounter one port o pot about the halfway point. You continue along the concrete trials and as you get closer to the riverfront park entrance there are several very small and beautiful water falls everywhere on both sides of the concrete path. Very lovely and great photo ops. Once reaching the other small waterfalls we turned around and took the concrete path all the way back. So we kinda created are own loop. Very nice, simple and beautiful walking trails. As for where to park for out towners like myself it depends on want you want to see. If you want to see the huge Emmett falls first then I would park at the entrance of buttermilk falls commerce as it is closer to that entrance. If you want to see several tiny ones first then start at the river front park entrance. If your gonna see both then either is good. It would of been nice if we had known you could enter through river front park as we had literally just left that area after eating jailhouse pizza. But either way we still had a great time and enjoyed. I will give a warning at least for AT&T users. You will not have great reception here. Calls and texts are spotty and internet is a no go. So bring plenty of charge and do some pre planning if that's a necessity for you. Overall absolutely worth checking out. We spent a day in Brandenburg all in that same vicinity and the entire family and group of friends we went with had a wonderful and memorable time.

A very cool playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, a walking trail, gazebo sitting and most shockingly of all a full blown skate park. Who knows maybe the next tony hawk is practicing now in small town mount Washington? Took my 4 daughters along with some friends here for the fist time ever today. My one year and six year old loved the playground and swings. Played for hours. My two older daughters tried out the state of the art skate park. Which I was shocked how elaborate it was. In the whole metro Louisville area I can only think of one other skate park and that is in downtown Louisville. They had a blast there. They borrowed a friends skateboard and they really took a liking to it. I've already been sent Amazon links from both of them asking for a skateboard so I'm sure I'll be back here once that happens. I enjoyed sitting back and relaxing and watching them have fun. Plenty of spots to sit and relax and an easy small concrete walking trail that circles the park amenities and beautiful landscape. Very impressed by this park. Very well upkept and lots of cool and fun activities for all ages. We will absolutely be back to This hidden gem several times. Absolutely worth checking out!

The trails cover a wide variety of environments, reaching a meadow where the power lines through and going down into the ravine which holds the Kentucky River. Once you're down there, a long path runs under the riverside cliffs. As is often the case in this region, the scenery is pretty, but on the difficult side. Many of the trails are narrow and covered with gravel or mud, and are high enough in spots that a slip could carry some significant consequences. There were plenty of bugs as well. But I managed to get a solid two-hour workout/scenic visit in. It's free and it's not far from Lexington.

Fairmount falls is a hidden and very well kept Louisville treasure. This is a walking trail located…read morein the fern creek/zoneton areas of Louisville. For whatever reason it is owned by Jefferson memorial Forrest which is in Fairdale a good 20 min away. The park area is blocked off by rope and a lock. To get the lock combo you have to call 502-368-5404 and hit "0" for the operator. At that time either someone will pick up and you tell them you want to reserve a spot for Fairmount falls and the date you need it. Or you can leave a voicemail and they will call you back ASAP. If available (only 3 cars a day) they will get your vehicle make and color and license plate number and give you the code. They will tell you to enter the home address of 9601 thixton lane but the entrance is actually across the street. How hidden and unknown is this place? I live literally a mile from here for the last 3 years. I had no idea it even existed. I've probably drove by the hidden entrance 20 good times with no idea. The woods and creek that it attaches is literally the same woods and creek in my actual back yard. If I was grizzly adams I could probably find a way to navigate or kayak my way there. But I'm not about that life. It's the 21st century and I have no problem calling a phone number, reserving a day and driving myself here. As alluded to the entrance is very small and tight (large vehicles may have to adjust a few times) and hard to miss. When you take the rope off you have a tiny parking area and a nice picnic table area. From there you start the trail. The trail is 1.1 miles round trip and it is a loop. First part of the trail has a variety of beautiful mossy rocks and fallen trees in a well beaten out and carved out nature trail. You will come up to a normal road and have to cross it to continue the trail. At that point is where you approach the breathtaking and beautiful Fairmount falls. They have a few side trails to get closer looks and photos. However you will be cross over the falls shortly while staying on the trail. When on top of the falls your feet will get a little wet. There is no barricades so you have to be careful of you dare get closer to the edge for a look see. It's pretty much straight rock in what I'd say is well over a 50 foot drop. So there is not walking it off if you slip. So proceed off trail with extreme caution. The trail continues through more beautiful natural Forrest areas. Including some nice random spots that had yellow water Lilly's that popped up. That second half also has a couple bench areas to sit and relax in the woods. The second half of this trail once you cross the waterfall has some very muddy spots. It is flat Ground and you can trek around them in the woods. Which you can tell has been done before as a second path is starting to emerge. Eventually you loop back around to the waterfall and head back to the beginning. Fairmount falls is Breathtaking, peaceful and quiet. You feel like your in on a top secret place when going there because you will likely be the only ones there and upon arrival you have to take a lock off the rope then lock it behind you and do the same when leaving. Being a mile away from my house I'll reserve this a bunch moving forward. It's an easy well shaded walking trail and relaxing. My family and I have done majority of Louisville walking trails. There isn't another waterfall like this nearby. So it is unique too. Overall extremely glad to have found this hidden gem. I would highly recommend for any nature lover!

But besides the point we got there had a lot of cool photo ops had a lot of cool little waterfall things going on and just saw lotta good things good big hiking loop going across the whole thing is like a mile long and easily marked And easily accessible for all of us and we had a really good time I will definitely be back to this place and I bet he's already giving back the same day with the rest of his family so he really enjoyed it so I will definitely be back it's a fun little hiking trail if you like woods and you like hiking you'll like this place
