It's staffed with helpful rangers and volunteers…read more They gave me recommendations to check out the nearby Pearson Air Museum (which is free) and it was a pretty cool museum. The visitor center itself has some informational displays about the history of the fort, as well as the archeological excavation process and how the fort became a national historic site. There is a section with animal and spirit masks by a Native American artist. The gift shop has a lot of books and literature for sale, along with the usual post cards, NPS patches, etc. It is somewhat small though. Large picture windows give a view of the grass and large trees. The trees obscure the view of the fort, so you have to make your way down to check it out!
