If, as the signs say, "We have your size!" why should I have to go to the special clearance area? They should really change the sign to "We have most sizes!" If you have a shoe size somewhere in the 6-9 range, there are lots of choices, varieties, options. Lucky you! For the rest of us... nope. And don't tell me, "Just go to the website!" I wanted to find some basic low-slung black pumps. To try them on before I bought them. I shouldn't have to go online for that. Added note: I tried to give DSW Shoes a second chance. Usually when there is a price difference and you find others with the same price, they honor the marked price. They were out of stock in my size, but the manufacturer is in Lake Oswego and they were making their order the next day. They just added me to the order. Less than a week later and my boots are in! When I picked them up, he told me Chinook didn't want the old pair back, so he patched the hole and gave them back to me! Super friendly service that goes the extra mile because he can. They asked a few questions to figure out what I was looking for and what I had worn before, and then promptly brought out multiple options to meet that criteria. They don't pressure you into sales, and they give you plenty of time to try things on and walk around with them (including on an in-store treadmill). While the prices are maybe 2-3 times as expensive as what you could get for a cheap knockoff on Amazon, it feels good to support a local business and have guidance in choosing the right shoe for you. The store has a rewards program, and they plan various run clubs for the community.

Since I had just gone to the Ross in Eastport Plaza, I decided to take SE 82nd to get home so I could stop in this Ross too. They all have different inventory so it's always worth a quick drop in and walk through the store. Today I found a gorgeous jumpsuit by Calvin Klein for $49 and I've seen it at Macy's for $129. Same exact one. Also bought an on trend pair of leopard print pants. I know, sounds like a street hooker. But they really are somewhat tame, no pun intended! I plan on wearing them around the house as loungeware because the material is so soft, they have pockets, and they are a loose, wide leg style. For $11.99, I couldn't leave them behind. It was Friday around dinner hour so the store was not crowded and checkout was fast. If you go during lunch hours when it's busy, the lines are often long because for some reason, they have less cashiers working during the busiest time. Like all Ross they have the annoying "greater" as you walk in, not adding to the experience at all. I smile and keep walking. At this particular store on this day, I did see a very active security guard really walking around watching to prevent theft, not just standing around which is usually the case. I, for one, appreciate this. Too much theft in Portland and it affects all of us. I like that they have security guards; I'm there to shop not steal so their presence doesn't bother me.
