Went to see Deadpool and Wolverine at this theater today. It was a great experience. The theater had the nice leather recliners, and there were much fewer seats than in a typical theater, so it cut down considerably on the amount of people in the room. It also made finding our seats super easy, which is a plus because I usually get so lost and confused trying to come back from the bathrooms lol. The tickets were reasonably priced, and the small popcorn came with free refills. I will definitely be returning the next time I want to go to the movies. read more

Love this movie theater, rooms are smaller and the seating is very comfortable. Some seats have heated seats and four different massage levels. Wish they would list what seats have what feature when purchasing online tickets, would make it better. Snacks are good and they even have food from the restaurant on the third level. Am I the only one who was unsure about this concept? Is my crunching going to disturb other moviegoers? Why wouldn't I just get dinner beforehand instead of getting there early to eat in my seat? Sperry's proved me wrong. Everyone, you were right! Genius idea. It was so nice to sit back and have your food served to you, making your whole night conveniently in one place. Also, the prices for food are REALLY impressive- I figured with $5 movie tickets, they would get you with the food prices (goooosh, never realized what a pessimist I am until I read this review haha). This is my favorite place to go to see a movie. The sound is great, the seating is spectacular! The price is really good too and if you join the moviegoers club you get good discounts (upfront at the concessions stand - so be sure to let them know if you are a club member). The moviehouse is always clean and in good repair. On Tuesdays they show movies for $5 - now that is a deal! Parking out back or in front. read more

Looks can be deceiving. When we arrived at this restaurant my first impression was not flattering. The restaurant was mostly empty, there was a front counter to order and sit cafeteria style and interior design shouted "IKEA". Turned off by that, we turned right and decided to take a seat at the bar, the best decision of the night after coming to this restaurant. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the Bar Manager Dan was ingenious with his cocktail creations and counter conversations. As a matter of fact, the drinks were so good, we came back the following night to try out the new month's concoctions and loved them. If you are a Old Fashioned guy like me, ask for the Winchester. Was very disappointed in our first experience there. Our group rented an entire theater and it was well over 80° In the theater. At least two different people went and asked for them to adjust the temperature and they did nothing. It made for a miserable experience with hot cranky kids. We much prefer Kraft 8. read more

Dinner and a movie just got raised to the next level! Family and I came on a Sunday afternoon just for lunch. Order at counter, get number and sit service. But, there is an elevated level... real plates, silverware and napkins! A little pricey for a family of four. Once the food came out the price was fair for the quality of the food. Kids had mini hotdogs and chicken strips. Great quality and taste. Adults had pizza and Caesar salad with shrimp added. Both great. All together a fine meal in a great spot. Without a doubt one of the best things to happen in port Huron in a long time! Once you go here you won't want to see a movie anywhere else in the area. Services include recliners and extensive menu with food delivered right to your seat. Includes wine as well. If you are local then you will appreciate how they have incorporated the history of the old department store. Heck anyone would appreciate it. There is a restaurant upstairs that is a cut above. This is an intimate setting with decent parking and a young staff that were wonderfully cordial. The seats were recliners, the screen large for a four row seating arrangement with only a 35 seat capacity, but the quality was excellent. I loved this, my first experience here. I can say that since my first review, things only got better. Ushers are better than other theaters in town. Facilities are clean and comfortable and I enjoy the food at my seat. I miss the $5 deals and concession prices are high, though quality is fine. But mostly, I miss going as our governor has shut down theaters. When they open, I will happily go back. read more

This place takes your movie viewing experience to a whole new level. The theaters are smaller with recliners that allow you to relax. Hungry? Have a meal delivered right to your seat. The second floor has a restaurant that is amazing. We tried poutine for the first time and wow! The fried mushrooms were delectable. The movie was amazing to see relaxed in the room reclined chairs. read more

Ok, I admit I was one of the skeptics on this one. Putting start of the art cinemas in what was an iconic yet now run down former Department Store seemed like the craziest of ideas. Count me as convinced. This place is awesome - just saw "Star Wars, Rogue One," here and have loved what they've done. If you grew up with Sperry's before it closed in 2000, there are plenty of small touches to peek your memories, including the reuse of the '50's space age lighting, the Art Deco-like columns, and even a timeline wall (down by theaters one and two) which tells you some of high points of its time as a Department Store. So far, only six of the eventual twelve movie theaters are open, and the 2nd floor Restaurant has yet to be finished - but what I see so far I like. Way to go guys: it's nice to see a movie downtown again for the first time in years! read more

My favorite place in Port Huron to see a movie. I love walking throught the original Sperry's doors to enter the building. It's such a nice memory. This is the perfect addition for entertainment downtown and is found in a building that deserved to be made beautiful again. It's definitely where I'll be purchasing my movie tickets! read more

I only go here to see movies. I have referred Sperry's to many people I know and once they get there, they never go anywhere else. Staff is polite, atmosphere is clean, and the food and beverages are diverse and accommodating. Just one suggestion- have more than one bartender in dining as the orders for mixed drinks take a lot of time while those who just want to order wine or beer have to wait forever. read more

Came to visit family in the area and was so nicely surprised by this venue and all they have to offer; from not so average movie snacks to weekly events. Personally my favorite is their "Indie Nights", nowadays it's so hard to find out about lesser known movies and I always like to stay up to date on new releases. This week they're screening Stockholm with Ethan Hawke ( a dark comedy based on the "absurd but true" story of the bank heist that coined Stockholm Syndrome). Went there on New Years day with my two teens. Small, intimate showing rooms with comfy seats, which is pretty cool. Problem was, they may have over sold because a group that had purchased tickets next to me found other people in their seats, so the first few minutes were awkward. My kids were in another movie so I ordered their food which should have been delivered to their seats. It never came! I didn't find out til after they'd seen their movie, they didn't complain themselves. Thankfully I had bought them other snacks to enjoy. I complained after and the manager did offer the food or a refund but it was disappointing that they had no food for the movie. We will try this place again however next time we're in Port Huron. read more

Went to see a movie this afternoon that was sold out in a few of the bigger theaters around here. Decided to go up to Sperry's, about a 30 min drive for us and we were very impressed. The capacity of the theater we were in was 26 including 2 handicap spaces. The seats were comfortable with tray tables, friendly staff. We didn't order and have our food delivered but I saw others do it and I may try it in the future! Great venue! read more

I'll admit, I had high expectations. After reading articles about this establishment with interviews of General Manager Scott Beeden himself, I believed this would be the place to be impressed! According to one article: "...take the stairs or elevator to the second floor, and place your order at the counter. When you've paid for your food, grab a thick wood block etched with your order number, then have a seat in one of the plush booths or at one of the modern-looking, but comfortable tables. Within minutes, a friendly staff member will bring your order, and you can enjoy your food and drink while keeping an eye on the large screen across the restaurant, which display showtimes. If you've finished your meal before your movie begins, just head to your theater and enjoy the show. If not, says Beedon, feel free to bring your food and up to two drinks into the theater with you." Sounds Great! I decided to make this our destination for Valentine's Day. I bought our tickets online a day ahead and even picked out our seats without any problems. Our 6:30 showtime tickets were printed and my Valentine's plans were made. For those who grew up in Port Huron (as my wife did), we were promised a kind of 'walk down memory lane' as the building reopened under it's old name with a new purpose. We entered the old building at 5:45 Valentine's Day and headed straight to the "Second Floor Dinnerhouse" for dinner. We placed our order at a food counter. Kind of different, but we expected it since Mr. Beeden had mentioned it in the article. There were a variety of dishes to choose from ranging from simple to elegant. I was sure to ask the girl at the counter if we would be able to make our 6:30 showtime. She assured us that we would and I thought to myself "even if we don't completely finish our food, the general manager stated that we would be able to "bring our food to the theater to finish". We ordered a Rice Bowl, a Burger, and 2 soda's. The total came to $25. We were handed a paper table tent with a number on it (not a thick etched wood block) and two paper cups for fountain drinks. Hmmm, not quite the 'Dinnerhouse' experience we expected. There was no large screen with movie times (or at least that we could see). Booths were far from 'plush' and the 'modern looking tables' looked more like they were straight out of a college cafeteria. We found our booth and then had to get in line for the soda fountain. (soda fountains and paper cups are not what I would expect from a place called a "Dinnerhouse") There was no iced tea (as my wife had asked for) so we pressed the ice lever and filled our own cups with coca-cola. Then. We. Waited. ... and waited ... and waited. 6:00 no food. 6:10 no food. 6:20 no food. At 6:25, with still no sign of food, we knew we were going to be late for our movie. Isn't that the purpose of having food AT the movie theater... to make sure you're NOT late for the movie?! Our theater was just 1 floor away, and we were going to be late?! I asked a counter server what to do. She kindly wrote down the number to our movie theater and seat numbers and promised to have our dinner delivered to our seats. According to the article which interviewed Mr. Beeden, after ordering "About 15 minutes later, but no more than five minutes into the show, a runner will bring them their food and drinks." I agreed and we went to the theater. The movie started promptly at 6:30, but the 'no later than 5 minute' guarantee from Mr Beeden, came and passed. At 6:45, I gave up all hope that our paid-in-advance meal was ever going to show. I apologized to my wife for a failed attempt at a nice Valentine Dinner/Movie. At 7:15, an hour and a half after arriving and 45 minutes into the movie, our food was finally delivered. A runner brought our "Casual Dining Dinnerhouse" meals in styrofoam containers, plastic utensils and condiments in plastic tubs. Not quite the "Dinner and Movie" experience we were expecting. (Try building and eating a burger in the dark... not easy or fun). The actual food was fair and the movie experience was good. Very comfortable seating! There were wide recliners with swing away tray tables for the food and soda. The left half of the screen however, was slightly out of focus which played tricks on the eyes. (Projector adjustments need to be made in theater 9) With all the other theaters moving toward the recliner experience, Sperry's will have to do much more to make it the go-to choice in Port Huron. My advice? If you want to see a movie, give Sperry's a shot. You might enjoy it. If you want a dinner and a movie experience however, go somewhere else. Update: Since our negative first experience, we decided to give them another try. It seems as though our first visit, and the negative results we experienced, can be chalked up to "new business" overload. They seem to have overcome those obstacles. We've enjoyed dinner & movies since. read more

My fiancé set up a dinner for two and a movie... we sit at the table and service was ok but the entree's to choose from were overpriced for the poor choices available. My food came out dry and my fiancé's were burnt. We wanted to send back the fries but the manager wanted to argue that they were great and got snappy at us. Then things got heated, she took our dinner and tickets away then had the nerve to get a male coworker come by to escort us out! I am very upset with how she behaved then called for backup as we would never be unprofessional especially in what is supposed to be a nice movie and dinner house... we are very upset and will never spend an evening where a professional lashes out at customers again! We never wanted any harm or trouble. So if you like mediocre food and service at a high price it's the perfect spot..these days it's hard to find a nice place with good service :( read more

This movie theater is absolutely perfect! I loved it! Entering through the original doors brought back a lot of memories of shopping. The concession area sits right below the mezzanine and I love that they kept the railing. I should mention that the concession employees were very nice and welcoming! Once inside the actual theater I just loved the intimate setting. Chairs are so comfortable! Can't wait to visit again! read more

This review is about the "restaurant" inside the theater. I am a fan of the actual movie theater - but the dining is basically an IKEA cafeteria inside a movie theater, horrible LED lighting - just not a comfortable atmosphere. Additionally it seems to be poorly managed. The food & drinks that we waited FOREVER for were really good (we got Impossible Burgers!!! Yum!!) Thank goodness for that. The waitress had zero idea how to multi task and I think this is bc of poor management and training. The human customers are THE priority. Not bussing tables then putting drink/food orders in etc. The food was really good - the service experience was one of the worst. The waitress was friendly and pleasant but it was not particularly busy and watching her do a zillion other things over serving us - it is certainly disappointing. We'll just get popcorn and snacks next time we want to eat before a movie. read more

I grew up in Port Huron and remember shopping at Sperry's, so to see new life in this old building is very exciting! I have only seen one movie there so far, and it was a great experience. The staff made sure we got to our seats, and even lowered the seats in front of us to be sure we could see the movie....which we could even if the seats were not lowered. The theaters are small and intimate, which I find very welcoming. I love that there are little swing away tables on each chair, with a cup holder. This will be the theater I go to for every movie I see....love that it is right downtown! read more
