I went for a vehicle inspection, and came away feeling pushed around and that the staff did not see…read moreme as a person.
I was told that the vehicle inspection would be an all day affair; drop off the car, and you'll get it back "sometime before 6 pm". I am not sure how anyone can be expected to plan a day with such vague timeilnes, but- fine. One day, I thought.
They failed the car on inspection. I found this interesting, as the car did have a vehicle inspection last year in another province, and passed. It has not been driven any differently since that time, and I hate driving, so in fact the car has hardly been driven at all. Conveniently for Can. Tire, this made the cost to me nearly double.
Blindsided, I agreed when they said they'd need to keep the car for another day to make the repair. I had no choice- I have a timeline to get this done, and no other weekend in the near future will do.
All I needed was someone to drive me to my neighbourhood. Canadian Tire left me stranded, without a vehicle, for an entire weekend, gave me only the vaguest of timelines, and the staff that I spoke to were entirely unconcerned about this. I am new to the province! I have no one to help me with this, so all I needed was someone to take less than 30 min out of their day to save me hours of mine.
"Taxi or bus" they told me- ah, so in addition to making the price of this visit spike, you expect me to pay even more on top of that? As though I don't have a mountain of other bills to pay, and an employer who is refusing to pay me my full salary? "Well, it's your problem. I have another customer waiting"
I have had an entire weekend ruined by Canadian Tire staff who did not treat me like a person, only a cash cow to be milked. I have had vehicle inspections done in other provinces, and no other auto shop has treated me so callously- even if they couldn't provide a shuttle, there was still more kindness shown. Canadian Tire has lost my business, and I would never advise anyone else use their services.
To be fair, there was one person on the Saturday team who I feel did at least sympathize, and made an effort- but one person was not enough to salvage the situation.
