Ok so Rose of Bengal has been under new ownership within the past year, so let's rule the old…read morereviews out. My friend who lives in Bury took us here one night and I was really surprised to see such a low Yelp score since he talked so highly of this Indian Restaurant- but I trust my friend so I thought we would give it a try. We came on a Sunday and were seated right away. Our server was very pleasant and has even befriended my friend since he's been a regular. It's awesome when restaurants remember there regulars and treat them well. The server was also great at giving recommendations and explaining the menu to us- as my husband and I don't eat too much Indian food. We all started with some drinks- very heavy pour- I didn't mind! We also has the garlic naan (soft and crispy), which came with 4 different dipping sauces/toppings. Our server also brought out a complimentary order of onion balls on the house. They were great dipped in the yellow sauce they brought with the nann- with a slight curry taste to it. For our meals, we got an array of different dishes. We got the Lamb Tikka Massala, Tandorri Chicken Massala and Green Thai Chicken Curry. The green curry was the winner for me- spicy and savory with a hint of sweetness to it. The flavor of the massala was rich and delicious- one of the best I've had and tasted very authentic. For sides we got the coconut rice (very sweet and served with coconut within), garlic rice and the fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were my least favorite- not like your typical fried potatoes, but the garlic rice complimented the dishes well. We had a great experience at Rose of Bengal and I would definitely return if I was ever back in the area. People need to give it a try- I promise you won't regret it.
